California 2026 Fuel Prices

My wife's next car will be a Toyota Hybrid for sure, the technology is sound. Probably going with a Camry, not the dental dam Prius (Soup Kitchen). Not going full EV, I want to be able to do road trips as well. I did drive in an Uber Rivian the other day, the thing was bad ass.
 
Toyota Corolla Hybrid gets 47 MPG combined and starts at $25k, their Gas only version can be bought under $23k and gets 41 MPG HWY.

I don't think anything else gets that good MPG for that price point.

Any of the Toyota hybrids would be a good choice.

My friend has a Rivian SUV. It is really nice and stupid fast. No way I would do any road trip with an electric vehicle.

Got the wife a Toyota crown hybrid earlier this his year she loves it’s. It a wagon addition crown (three boys in youth sports)
39 city 37 hwy.

Corolla is slloooooooooooooooooooooooooooow though. I get it, these aren't rocket ships... But hol-eee-fawk is that thing slow, and it gets noticeably worse as the battery depletes.

This quote from Car and Driver pretty much sums it up...

I had one as a rental (sedan version) and it was pretty easy to get mid-40s. Super comfortable and roomy.

I hate that shit. I did that drive Friday to Havasu and Monday home. It happened two to three times each way.

I am pretty convinced that some do this for entertainment.Its not like theres a train of cars coming and the speed an approaching car has the truck can easily let the car by but nope they gotta shut the door instantly like pull put and then you see their turn signal come on.

Okay, now you're just Drunk posting... 🤣 .

There is NO WAY any Chevy anything (excluding the Vette) is "nicer" than ANY Honda or Toyota... especially a Volt.

My Civic is 10x nicer than any version of that car it could dream to be. Toss in a 2024 Camry or 2020 Accord with a 6 speed transmission and the 2.0 Turbo and there's not even a comparison. The Accord I mention is a detuned version of a Civic Type R... no Chevy Econobox is going to even come close in any category, except mileage - which it was designed to excel at.

What Camry did you own, a 1997 LE? That would be about the only way this would have any traction at all...
 
Toyota Crown gets over 40 mpg, a nice low mileage used one can be bought in the low 30's.

Typical Toyota....always $$$ LOL

The best fuel mileage was the Jetta diesel. My brother-in-law had one and I drove from L.A. to Fresno and got 50mpg.

Yup, a couple guys i work with have jetta wagons that are deleted and tuned. 50+ MPG. impressive but they sure look lesbian as hell

My roommate Uncle Doug (a TRUE friend to my brother and I) pulled 53 MPG out of a 2014 Hyundai Elantra that I rented back before I got my Civic. Don't need a diesel for these numbers.

I rented cars for a month to see what was the most comfortable to drive from Vista to Desert Hot Springs (15, 215, 60, 10, 62) and back every day. As Supervisor, I moved him to weekend shifts so that we had full coverage between us at Canndescent and on his two days alone (he drives like a Grandpa), he squeezed over 50 MPG from a GAS car over a number of weekends.

I was impressed but the car felt exceptionally shitty in Quality (like a Chevy Volt :cool: ) and I jumped into my Civic without hesitation. We averaged 41 MPG in that but the seats were (and still are) ridiculously comfortable for people under 250 lbs for multi-hour drives.

There's no other choice, for commuting. I'd have a 2024 Camry if I didn't have to get housing sorted out.

Had a 3 as a rental. Good chassis. Power was decent. MPGs in the low 30s.

But fawk, the infotainment system was a big ass screen...

That wasn't touch enabled. Everything through a stupid iDrive style knob. Fuck. That. Give me old style infotainment, or new. Not this abortion.

MAZ 3 turn dial for the info dash is like twisting nipples, gonna make me crash doing that shit on the FWY. LOL

We almost bought one of those this past summer.....really nice and peppy small SUV
