Ive been spending the last year or so working on practical pistol competition. Been doing a bunch of training as well shooting matches. This is a hell of a lot of fun. Old guy trying to learn a new trick.

I know @punkur67 shoots both precision rifle and practical pistol.

Anyone else shoot competitively?? If so what do you shoot and where?

Bob

I shoot PRS, NRL hunter, and am trying to get more into USPSA pistol competition. My home club for rifle competition is San Diego Precision Rifle club.

@Stinky what does your precision pistol rig look like? I think one of the local ranges used to do that.

Bobalos.....Precision is shot out of a box. You bring ur box to the range and set it on the table and you open it and set ur pistol on the table. Ur spotting scope is often clamped to the box. I don't have any of that. I use binos and just lay it on the counter.

My pistol is a cheap-o Ruger 22/45 w/a Millet tube red-dot. It is shot at 50'.

The target's "Black" is about the size of a tennis ball.

I think that is the kind of competition the local range used to run.

@Stinky is that Millet tube just a 1x tube style red dot, or is there magnification in it?

Is the Ruger chambered in 22LR?

Do you load your own ammunition or buy something specific for it?

thanks

The tube is a 1"....like the silver one (below), and it is the same mount. No magnification is allowed.

Precision Pistol is a 25 and 50 yd game w/.45 and other calibers. Indoor pistol is the same course of fire shot w/a .22 at 50'. There are 2 dif targets. The black is the same size, but the rings are dif between slow (10 shots in 10 minutes), timed (2 strings of 5 shots in 20 secs) and rapid fire (2 strings of 5 shots in 10 seconds) (these last 2 are shot on the same target).`

BTW., in some games, like air rifle and others....the X-ring is .177 (or thereabouts, possibly .22 on others) and it only counts if the ring is gone....punched straight through the middle.
