Is anyone hopeful that these will be any good? Supposedly they’ll be around $25,000 with DIY warranty repair support.

I was a lot more intrigued when they were going to be $20,000. Also I was a lot more intrigued until I found out their warranty is 12 months/12,000 miles.

1 year/12k warranty is troublesome on a first year vehicle for an entire brand...

I have my eye on a blank slate with power windows, center console, and bring your own speaker mount. I don't think any of them will be under $30K out the door which pushes me back to a known manufacturer but we will see.

I thought they were gonna be around 15K??
Also, lease an EV, don't buy it is my thought. I don't think resale on EV's is that great.
This Slate is an interesting concept though

No leasing at this time but maybe in the future. I don't think they were ever supposed to be $15K but originally, they were shooting for $20K and the covid inflation came. Rising only 25% to $25K tells me they will probably sell base models at a loss as the rest of the country went up 40%.

Still not a bad option for a kid that doesn't drive many miles, of course way over my kid budget

For $30k, a Maverick Hybrid brings a lot more to the table...

I put down my $50 deposit about a year ago when they first revealed it. At the time the $20k price point was the whole appeal — made it a no-brainer. Unfortunately with the federal EV tax credit gone, we're now looking at $27-28k, which is a pretty significant jump and honestly has me rethinking the whole thing.

My plan was to buy one strictly as a commuter to keep the miles off my F250. I drive 72 miles round trip to work, 5-6 days a week, so the 150-mile base range would actually cover me just fine on a single charge. Financially it made a lot more sense at $20k

Also just to clarify on the warranty — I'm not sure where the 1 year/12k figure came from, but federal law actually requires EV manufacturers to warranty battery packs for 8 years or 100,000 miles. , so Slate will have to meet that minimum regardless of what else they announce. Still waiting on them to release their full warranty details & pricing.

$20k minus the credit would've been perfect.

Can’t trust AI. This is what AI told me, but it was pulling it from a different companies website that also goes by “Slate”. Sorry for the confusion.IMG_1977.jpeg
Knowing that an 8 year, 100,000 mile warranty is minimum, I feel A LOT better.

Same here, eary reservation. But the price keeps going up. I doubt i will buy one.

Very neat idea if the price was cheaper they would sell more.

Hmm, looks interesting. Surprised on the warranty. Should be at least 3yr 36k miles bumper to bumper. Hopefully Ford hurry's up on this new affordable hybrid truck that's supposed to come out with some crazy range. I think I heard like 700 miles or something. We'll see 🤷‍♂️
