Come on, that is like being the tallest midget, 2 games above .500, same as the Padres.
Exactly my point, he said that. He doesn't do the little things at all.Machado leads by example. Like jogging to first on every ground ball. His lazy lack of hustle has now spread to other players like Tatis and Bogaerts. Hard to watch our team right now. Hopefully they start playing better
You are not wrong at all, the writing has been on the wall. The Padres don't have a talent issue; they have a clubhouse issue. There is no accountability, team doesn't truly have a leader. Machado has even said he leads by example, which I don' think is all that good. Tatis does what he wants, who else in that clubhouse is going to mentor/lead the young players, thank god for Merril and he doesn't need that, guy busts his arse. I have also been told from an MLB scout, the clubhouse is divided a few ways, the have's and the have nots...............also the Latin players and the white players don't really intermingle at all. Not sure it is fixable, when things are good, they ride the high, but that isn't sustainable.
Then you take into consideration Preller, yes he isn't afraid of making moves, but some of these long-term contracts are crazy, Bogaerts and Darvish, ludicrous. I know SD fans love him, but he has made as many bad moves as good moves. Mason Miller is a stud, just not sure that is what the team needed, gave up a lot for him. I THINK, many of his moves are just to cockblock the Dodgers, Soto and Miller for example
Either way, I could be wrong on all of this, I am just a Dodger/baseball fan.
