Hey everyone, I have a 2006 Revenge Racing 2 Seat Mid-Engine sand car. It was built by Justin Smith of shock therapy. I bought this car 5 years ago for relatively cheap because it wasn’t running. I got the car running and have had fun with it ever since owning it. Broke a spindle and upgraded to the 2” hollows and had the upper arms re-fabbed. The car has a 3.0 Subaru with a turbo built by OutFront. I don’t have much info on the motor. I know I may get some hate from the Subaru guys but I want to convert my Subaru over to LS. Has anyone done so with there car or is it worth to sell the car as is and get something that I want. Here are some pics. The pic with dirt tires is the day I bought it.IMG_8066.jpegIMG_8465.jpegIMG_8443.jpegIMG_0982.jpegIMG_1037.jpeg

Hey it was nice meeting you and your wife over Thanksgiving weekend. @Grease Monkey this question is right up your alley.
Believe hes on his way or packing to head to momma g but I can tell you he did swap out the Subi for an LS. He swapped the trans as well for different gearing and chevy bell housing. All i can say is that he is love with everything that was done. It was worth it for him as the car is a fresh redo Funco. If you absolutely love your car then Id say it would worth it, not cheap but worth it. Keep us posted on your build, good luck!!

So, If I owned this car and was in your position, I would leave it Subi 6cyl powered. Being a mid engine and being tight on space, it just doesn't make sense. Your car should rip and the balance appears spot on. Rear engine cars provide a bit more flexibility on space and sourcing common parts.
This 3.0 you've got should be in the 600 hp range. Keep the boost down and it will live a long happy life. If you want more HP it will come with Johns new 3.6/3.2L platform. This would drop right in and you can use all of your external stuff with it. Cost savings.
You didn't mention which transaxle the car has. This is as much of a factor as everything else.

I have close to 10 years of working with John at Outfront. Had multiple Subaru powered cars. 2.5's, 3.0's and the latest 3.6/3.2 platform. It's hard to beat the power per liter, low center of gravity and fun factor a Subaru powered car provides.

Happy to help.

It has the mendeola 2d in it with Deco case. The car is alot of fun. Now with your experience with Subaru, when I change the oil, it has a chocolate milk like color when I change it, but it’s not dark like oil but it’s not light like milk lol. It doesn’t smell like coolant or smell like 110. Is that normal for a Subaru? I haven’t lost any coolant in the radiator and I put a glove on the radiator cap and when I started it, it doesn’t move or wave at me.

Hard to say, could be a result of it sitting for so many years. I call it tanning which is a polite term for rust. Could be condensation between oil changes and light running. Could be worse.

The 2D is paired fine with this 3.0 if cared for and not abused. No hitting the whoop sections floored and clutch in on a jump and landing. Putting more torque to that 2D is going to cost ya. Only saving grace is its access and ease of removal being a mid engine.

Thanks for the info I greatly appreciate it. I’ll have to just keep an eye on the oil and change it more frequently.
I don’t abuse the transmission, I just dune the car. Stay out in the dunes past China wall and play out there and stay away from all the knuckle heads.

Does the car have a mural on the trunk lid?
I’m thinking it used to have orange beadlocks and a bigger light bar on it….
If so, I know one of the previous owners, and it was a fun car to dune with.

Yes the mural is in the trunk lid still lol. And yes when I bought it it had orange beadlocks on chrome wheels. When I purchased it, it came with the Baja design lights but it does have the mounts for the big old school round lights.

bitchen car, the issue with engine swap as mentioned is the mid-engine space. I know justin built some mid-engine v8s like yours but don't know the details on whether it can just drop in that space or not

if not moving the engine/trans back or forward would probably kill the budget in fab-work redesign
