2011 Desert Rat dual sport (similar to Desert Dynamics)

Chassis was built by Desert Dynamics. Ray at Desert Rat built the rest of the car. I purchased this car in August 2013. I am the second owner. I have taken good care of this car over the years and have done a number of upgrades. The car is dialed in, very reliable, and ready to go. Title clear and in hand. Registration current until June 2027.

EDIT 1: Sorry, I failed to get a walk-around of the car running while I had it out of the trailer after our last trip! Here is a cold-start video from 12/3/2025:
. I also dug up a clip from Glamis so you can hear the actual exhaust tone under power:
.

EDIT 2: Dimensions –
Overall length: 15’ 4” (from rear-most part of engine cage in rear to front of sand tires in front)
Front width: 90-1/4" (with sand tires; from outside flat faces of tire surfaces)
Rear width: 93" (with sand tires; from outside flat faces of tire surfaces)

  • 6.0L LQ4, Thorley headers, mild cam, dyno-tuned at Westech at 373 hp / 393 ft-lb at the wheels. I do a Blackstone oil analysis with each oil change. The most recent one said (paraphrased): “…insolubles (solids from heat/use) are quite low…the oil held up well…wear looks great, too. No issues to note.”
  • Mendeola 2D w/ updated case (not early version which had issues), G50 input shaft, aluminum nose cone. Full rebuild 5/29/2024 by Dave Folts Transmission including a gearing change so there’s a nearly-new R&P in it, new 1st/2nd main shaft, and new 4th gear (3rd checked out good). Five (5) trips on rebuild as of 12/1/2025.
    • This horsepower level / trans combo has been solid – I've never had the trans let go on me, only preventative servicing.
  • Kennedy Engineering Stage 3 double-disc clutch
  • ProAm shifter
  • 2” front hubs
  • 934 CV’s
  • Fox 2” bypasses and coil-overs up front. Fox 2.5” bypasses and coil-overs w/ external reservoirs out back. Tuned by Shock Therapy. All eight (8) shocks fully serviced 6/20/2024 by Fox Factory including new shafts. Five (5) trips on shocks as of 12/1/2025.
  • Upgraded to PRP Comp Elite seats in front. Original Twisted Stitch seats in rear.
  • Crow 5-point harnesses (3” lap, 2” shoulder)
  • Windshield
  • Rigid 40” radius LED roof light
  • Rigid 10” E2 LED bumper light
  • Baja Designs lower front pod lights
  • Interior lighting
  • Quick Light HD 6ft, blue lighted whips
  • PCI 4 Link Pro Elite intercom w/ Bluetooth; headsets and jacks at all four (4) seats
  • Icom car-to-car radio w/ external microphone and magnetic mount
  • Lowrance GPS
  • Labeled switch bank
  • Headset/goggle holders on ceiling
  • Ice chest holder in front of passenger’s feet
  • Turning brakes
  • Howe power steering pump and ProAm reservoir w/ filter
  • FK heims and Grade 8 hardware
  • Two (2) fire extinguishers (one front, one rear)
  • 20 gallons fuel capacity
  • New Odyssey battery 3/11/2021, always kept on tender. Original Odyssey battery lasted 8+ years, so this one should be good for quite a while.
  • New cooling fans 1/2025 (one was getting hot/seizing so I replaced both)
  • New rear brake pads 10/2021
  • Set of four (4) 35” desert tires on EMPI bead lock wheels
I also have a lot of receipts and electronic documentation such as set-up files, torque specs, how-to instructions (e.g. engine pull tips, shift linkage adjustment) that I can put together for you.

$49k OBO. No trades. Car is located in Murrieta, CA 92563.

Ray at Desert Rat did the same thing that Rich at Armor Craft in Vista did. These cars should be definitely considered Desert Dynamics cars. He would order 3-5 frames from Dave (Buggyworks basics to Prerunner level) and build them up with DD parts. I almost got a frame from him but was into 2 seat cars at the time and he only ordered 4 seat frames.

High Quality car listed here, for sure!

Thanks guys. She's been a great car.

Per some inquiries, I added dimensions. I also added (but doesn't seem to be working) videos of the car running. Is there a magical trick to inserting Vimeo links? After I used the "Insert link" button and save, the thread says "Sorry We're having a little trouble." I am wondering if that is just me or if everyone is seeing that...

Not sure if it will take a Vimeo link. You can attach the video file to the post then make sure to select "INSERT" on the attached video.
