Brake rotor question

Evening folks,

I just bought the napa premium rotors for my camry and they have a dull silver "paint" on them. My gut says "clean that shit off", but it kind of looks like it should stay on and just wear off ......

This is not oil or cosmoline, or wax....

I googled it and I was right at 50% of "leave it on" it's new stuff, and "clean it off".

And I was pretty surprised that none of the documentation with the rotors or pads Saud anything about it and I couldn't find anything on napas website..

Thoughts???

At my shop we always leave it on. Its supposed to help the pads break in

Whenever I ended up with non coated rotors, I always hi-temp paint them and just go to town with it. Pads clean it off before they’re fully bedded.

It's a polymer coating to keep them from rusting.

Leave it on.
