Flex Fuel Sensor - running 91 and adding pump e85

A good friend of mine has a turbo Pro R that makes about 475 WHP with proper fuel. THE THING IS A BEAST. He runs 91 most of the time in the mountains or on easy dune rides, but has a flex fuel sensor, so when he wants to head to the hill or drags he tops off with e85 and the tune adjusts on the fly.

I know this is common in street cars, but are any sand rails running a flex fuel sensor with a tune that adjusts on the fly based on ethanol content?

If so, what flex fuel sensor are you running, and who are you having tune the car?

It would be really convenient to always get your fuel from the pump.
 
Need a good engine management system that will work with the flex fuel sensor. Aem was my plan before Holley took them over. I'm out of that loop now.

Holley with a flex sensor is super easy. Adjusts timing and injector pulse on the fly. Haven’t done it yet on my car but have done the homework.

Need enough pump and injector to manage the range.
 
From what I understand, certain factory GM computers can also do this. For example, my 2006 Silverado was a flex fuel truck. If I convert that to a 3 bar map, in theory I can slap a turbo on it and throw that ECU and motor in a rail and I have a flex fuel car. I understand there is a benefit to the more expensive systems, but you wouldn’t HAVE to run an aftermarket ECU right?

This is correct. With an ethanol sensor wired in. Many GM ECUs that are in NON FF vehicles will do this too. These particulars ECUs were used across many platforms.
