Gear selector / wrong reading

I have the remark ind. gear selector in my car w/ an S4S.... got the trans back from rancho with a fresh rebuild.  Trans is in neutral, but the gear selectors is reading 3rd gear.  Did they re-install this wrong? or?

already left a message to remark ind, waiting on a call back.... thought I'd check in here.

Its 5 volts in and the voltage is broken down from there thru the remark gear switch.  Example.  N=5volts 1st=4 volts 2nd=3 volts etc. That reference voltage is then programmed into the display if your using a Motec, Holley, Aem etc.  If your using the Remark display then it should be plug and play. If so maybe the sender is turned 180 deg.

Not sure what would happen if the sender was installed 180 deg.  I didn't get a chance to see mine out of the trans.

Remove the sender unit from the trans and turn it 180*.

Did you have Rancho upgrade to the Gen 3 shift mechanism? If so, there will be a different sensor on the trans that will no longer with your existing display, the voltages are different from the early Gen 1/Gen 2 units.

If you have the new Gen 3 shift mechanism, you will either need to replace the display, including wiring loom, or you can try and contact Remark to see if they can reflash your existing display to work with the new sensor.

Below is the new Gen 3 sensor. Sensor mounts a little more flush to the front cover (no boss sticking out the front cover)

Thanks @Sean@WeddleI prepped a Funco Gen 5 with S4 last season and had Rancho rebuild the transaxle. Shift indicator hasn't worked since then. This could be exactly what's going on. Need to call my client and see if he can check which sender it has.

Try pulling the sensor and rotating the dial 180º like Jeff said. Usually a good idea to pull the sensor, power up the display and rotate the sensor to make sure the display is reading the rotations properly. Might need a new sensor, which are available. 

The early old style sensors (bulky aluminum boxes) DO NOT rotate a full 360º. They have an internal stop past where 5th gear position would be. Make sure the display reads N before installing on trans that is in neutral.

Never mind! Got it off. They had some silicone on the backside. Couple taps with a rubber hammer.
