Help needed evaluating sand rail

Hello I have inherited a sand rail from my brother in law who unfortunately passed away. None of the family has an interest in keeping it so I need to find out its approximate value so we can move it to its next home. If someone can give me a little guidance it would be much appreciated. I will post a few photos and please let me know what additional photos would be most helpful. My brother in law was an avid off road enthusiast and spent a lot of time at Glamis over many years. What sort of motor and trans? How old?

I am betting stock LS1 with a 2D and stub axles.

I would say around $35k is fair.
 
Looks like a nice buggy. A few more pictures of engine and transmission, dash electronics and interior will help. Any paperwork on registration and motorwork would help.
 
What city is the located in? This site has members everywhere, maybe someone could come look at it and identify what's on it. Different components can have a big effect on price.
 
First of all condolences to your family. RIP fellow duner.

Without knowing the mfg of the rail and some more details on motor/trans,etc. it's just a wild guess. One thing is for sure and that is the market is crashing hard. Someone mentioned 35k and I think that is on the high end right now from what I'm seeing.

This really is some of the best advice so far. Not only will you cast a wide net on that page but there is some great knowledge on that page as well and its not uncommon for someone to chime in on it that knows more about that car personally.

Also, being an N/A LS motor with what assumptions lead to be a 2D trans, I would say more like 26 is a fair price also assuming that it needs nothing and is ready to go.
20k seems to be the base line value for an average 4 seater 2D trans car. This car seems to be nicer then the average car, but I would be hard pressed to see it go for more than 30k...

Sorry for the loss.. Good on you for taking reigns on taking car of his stuff.. a responsibility I wish upon no one.

Is it possible to contact anyone in the group(s) he used to ride with? They most likely will know many the details about the car, and could help you get the most money out of it.
 
The car looks to be an Allstar chassis with an LS base and a Mendeola 2D trans. My guess is $30 to $35k but we are past the middle of the duneing season, so your window is closing fast. Best advise would be to keep it until next year and post it up around October for the most return.

It definetly looks like an Allstar car.
Al built a great car that worked well....too bad he got into cocaine!!!
35k car all day long.
 
Sorry for your family’s loss, I can’t remember the exact name they started as but this is the same as a Revolution Sand car. If I remember correctly, this car was up for sale a few years ago and it is a 2D car. It is a very good handling car.

Just in case there is someone on this forum that knew my brother in law his name was Larry Jowdy and had been going out to Glamis for probably 40 years or more.
While cleaning out the garage I ran across some information on the sand car.

Also on the title it lists the year of the car as 2004 and the make as Moseb. Hope this new information is helpful.

That's an awesome log of what you actually got. Although a bit dated, still should fetch 30k all day. Some of the highlights are bypasses, 2" hollows racepak dash, 934s, etc. If you wait until season, and clean it up a bit possibly a bit more. Also, title shows it to be a Mosebilt which is pretty cool to some and to others not so much. I would imagine that in 2004 he was on his game. No longer building cars, as I believe I got his last latest one in 2023. Good luck!

I spent some time with the car this weekend trying to get it running. The battery is dead (I have a new one coming) and could not get the fuel pump to run, there may be a separate switch that I have not located. But by squirting a little gas into the intake manifold and using jumper cables the engine started easily. When I get the fuel pump sorted out it should be drivable.

Follow the wires back from the fuel pump. Could be a fuse or a relay. If those are hard to get to I use a jumper from the battery positive to the fuel pump positive just to see if you can get the fuel pump to kick on.
 
I found the fuel pump (Aeromotive A1000) is not functioning. I ran a jumper from the battery directly to the fuel pump and no pump sounds. I also found the fuse that that is associated with the pump is blown and every time I replace the fuse it would blow. I read that there is not a rebuild kit for these pumps but has anybody had any luck bringing one back to life?

Send it back in to aeromotive. Or replace with an aem lph400. May require some plumbing changes though.

Revolution was a totally different builder.
