I may have to buy a lawn mower.

all joking aside, I have the Ryobi 40v battery powered. It's cool, had it about 5 years, but the "clutch" or whatever thing-a-ma-bobber is that engages the self-propelled unit, is slipping pretty bad! Just looked up a YouTube video and it may be in the handle. Sounds like a 2-3 beer project that I think I'll tackle!

If I had to get a new one, I'd probably go back to gas:

This thing folds up nice and compact too! Gas will have more power too as far as sucking up leaves and such!

A boat worker came into the shop today. Complaining about the raids. Says there are groups of cartel members in the area, dressing up as feds, kidnapping and hiding immigrants. Is he or are they correct in this happening or is this what they are thinking. Either way they are scarred. Not a good time for them. He did say something was going to happen tomorrow. He wouldn't tell me what........

Couldn't tell'ya.. Every time I'd hit "enter" it would take me back to a blank reply screen.

Enyhoow...

I put sod in at my last house. Shit wore me out. I had to mow it 4 times a week. F that.
This house was way less, but still too much. I was simply burnt out on it. Hired a guy, to remodel the yard. He's rad. His crew does everything.

Had a water leak at the water heater a few weeks ago. His guys ripped out the drywall, fixed the leak, re-rocked it, and painted.

When doing the weekly yard service, they pick up the dog shit too if I haven't got around to it.

There is always a cold bucket of Models on the patio for those boys if I know I've been slackin'..

I will take the mow and blow for $50 every two weeks. Yard looks great and I can sleep in on Sunday's when I hear the neighbors fire up the mower at 5am.

Spent a couple hours after work yesterday clearing weeds, other crap with the weed trimmer and hedger. Got the front and side driveway done, today is trash day so Monday is always fill up the trashcans.

I love a tidy yard, not opposed to doing myself. Tools are key.

In fact the Toro Weed Trimmer would not rev high, would idle and i could hit the throttle in burst to get RPM up and use it...but too much gas and it would die. Time to have one of the boys rebuild and clean the carb, beating its gunked up.

Use Motomix or TruFuel. Ethanol free and won't gum up carbs.
Running them at full speed helps a lot. Just before shutting down, full throttle for a few seconds.
I freaking love yard work.

it's cheaper and easier to buy a new carb...or two.

This right here! I have a big ass yard with a ton of landscaping to maintain. For 160 a month they come weekly and my yard looks great all the time. I dont want to buy the equipment or spend hours every week to maintain it. I work 50+ hours a week and last thing I want to do on my day off is yardwork.

I say bring back the old school edgers and mowers, where the pull string broke once a month and you had to use playing cards to set the points.....these kids today got it too easy....

That was my life from 12-17. Mowed lawns for extra cash when ever I could. Pushing the mower across the street with the trimmer and blower on top.

I did the same. Dad left and it was just me, my younger brother and mom. Needed to help cover the bills, so I put the lawn mower to work. Probably around 12 years old as well. Had 5 houses a day 5 days a week. Some front and back yard some just front. 10 bucks got both done. Edge, mow and sweep. Neat story with it all. I wore the Toro mower out. Engine had no compression left and the wheels were falling off. I started with a great mower my dad had originally bought. It was more on the commercial mower grade then home owner grade so I pushed the mower 2 miles to a law mower repair shop. Owner said it needed everything and it would be a coupe of weeks. I let all my neighbors know and they waited for me. I went back when I got the call that it was done. Got the price and grabbed my cash. Walked to the shop and met with the owner. It was all new except for the frame and metal base. I handed him the money and he said its been paid for already. I was shocked. I found out later that all my neighbors pitched in to pay for the rebuild. They all knew our struggles and we all were a community that helped each other and were there for each other.

Ditto! I did about 5 yards on my street.

I actully like mowing my lawn. I make sure to mow it a different way every week, do a different design.
If there are a few blades of grass that were missed, I do a 90 degree opposite cut from the first pass to get everything!
To me it's relaxing, I don't have to think...just do!
Afterwards, I usually end up having a couple beers with my neighbor cause he's usually out there as well!
I run the sprinklers for a couple minutes to make sure I didn't clip any of them!
LOL

Weirdo. 🤣

I have a desk job now so when 1:30 hits... I'm out the door and ready to go work in the yard! I try to put in at least 2 hours a day before the girls get back from swimming at the In Laws. I consider it my "Gym" and at 46 with a 2 year old, I need all of the help I can get.

I also like the "Equipment" aspect of it. Researching, buying, using good tools is fun... in my eyes.

I used to have to maintain 3 acres when I was renting a house on the outskirts of Vista for 16 years and the property was nothing but a series of terraced levels... no real room for a Mower so I picked this bad boy up and have been VERY happy with it...

Pump gas, runs amazing, I've trimmed weeds up to 4' tall without any issues:

Once I moved out of there, I was back to the 1 acre I maintained as a kid that ended up to be about a half acre to use a Mower on. I picked one of these up used at the local Mower shop for under $200 and it has kicked ass for 3 years, now...

Aside from those two pieces, the only other equipment I rely on is a Ryobi reciprocal saw and 9" Diablo blade.

I love doing the work and have cleaned up 20+ years of neglected yard pretty easily.

Sound like what you would get at a shady waxing and message shop!!
