Whispers turned to silence yesterday at the Flying J in West Memphis Arkansas as grizzled long-haul veteran Ed Vinson, 58, initiated his son, Eddie Jr., 19, into a time-honored trucking tradition: the inaugural meeting with a "parking lot hostess."
Witnesses reported Vinson proudly guiding a visibly nervous Eddie Jr. towards a woman identified only as "Starla." The air, normally thick with diesel fumes and the aroma of stale urine, shimmered with romance.
"Your very first comfort session is a rite of passage, son," Vinson was overheard saying, patting Eddie Jr.'s shoulder as Starla offered a practiced smile. "Every good trucker needs to understand the ways of the road".
'Hostess Logistics Coordinator' Cletus "Big Daddy" Johnson, wiped a tear from his eye. "I've seen many a boy become a man out here. This transaction felt special."
Eddie Jr. was later seen purchasing a large fountain drink and a tube of docosanol cream, his expression unreadable.
