i have a stuck pin and need to do some work on a track and idler on my 22 ton excavator need to remove a track pin, i hear i need a 50-100 ton portable press, there is even a C clamp version. was thinking of making my own for $300-350 in parts and my time but it is possible someone here know of one i could rent ?

some of my friends told me to flame cut out a hole in the track pin and then knock it out, and used dry ice and a torch to install it but would prefer not to have to beat it out and install it like that

yeah if i did it all the time it wouldnt bother me but would rather do it cold

just watched the video, i don't know why they didn't try to remove pins with that press? the copper tube thing was genius

looks like a big project and had no idea of how big that track press was---its huge!!

I watched that whole video and it was fantastic! smiled the whole time that guy reminded me of myself my excavator is 5 tons heavier but would expect about the same process. he is smart but his reasoning is a little off on why it doesn't need to be there. what the bolt and the preloaded assembly helps is so that the idler can fit 4 more inches in so you have more clearance to assemble the track pins, it is true it doesn't matter if he can assemble the track, but if he can't, then he will need to pretension that assembly (or possibly push the idler and track in with the other excavator while putting the pin in)

very well put together video!!

Very good channel for all sorts of farm fixes and how things work. He is incredibly patient and works hard to show how something works or how to go about fixing it when it doesn't.
Yep, I’ve watched most of his shit. Makes me want to do more with my land.
