Metal blade for cutting metal

I've just noticed some metal blades, that look like a standard circular-saw or table saw blade that are designed for cutting metal.

Has anybody used them?
 
We use these all the time at my shop. We have a Milwaukee Metal Saw, but we usually run the Diablo brand blades, they just seem to last longer for our use. We have used the saw to cut sheet metal, B Deck, and posts both square & round. Just recently we put a metal chop saw on a cutting table in the shop to use as a backup when our bandsaws are busy, or just need to make a quick single cut.
 
All day long we use these for cutting metal. They are noisy but much cleaner than using an abrasive disc.

Metal saws run a lower RPM than a standard skil saw. I don't know if the faster circ saw would damage the metal blade or overheat the work. Something to look into.
 
I have the milwaukee M18 metal cutting saw and I use it for cutting all kinds of stull. Just made a bunch of cuts on 1/4" aluminum plate and it did pretty good and some of the cuts were over 48". I have the steel and aluminum blades and they last pretty long and get lots of cuts out of them
 
I tried one years ago but went back to the abrasive blades. When a blade for the circular saw gets too small I use it on the grinder.

I have one for aluminum and one for metal. They fucking eat through sheet metal extremely fast. Way more precision and clean cutting than any abrasive disk. However they make a huge mess and spray chips everywhere. Cutting through thick sheet its a great option if you dont have a big shear. i specifically use the aluminum one for cutting 3/16 6061 skid plates. Highly reccomend. If anyone is wondering im using them on a Milwaukee circluar saw battery m18

A lot of the newer ones have chip collectors. Not 100%, but it's not terrible either. Better than having to see where the sparks will go to set shit on fire. :cool:

haha i agree! The chips arent that bad, they make a mess but its easy to vacuum up with a shop vac. I way prefer them over abrasive disks for certain applications.
 
The upside to the metal blades, is you collect a bunch of the chips, then dump them under your buddies ride and say WTF is that from????????
 
I've also heard they're really good on fingers, too!
