PLC wi-fi gateway connection

There may be security concerns with doing this. Most manufacturers don't want access outside of their networks.
This is a specific request from a potential customer of our equipment. Without very specific program files (proprietary) it's useless. Our customers have the gateway to plug into the machine, but we don't give them the files unless diagnostics are needed remotely.

This request is mostly pointless. Typically, I have a tech log into the machine when I send them the files. I then log into their pc with something like TeamViewer, then control things from there. Even with wi-fi capability, a tech must be with the machine to preform manual functions in order to replicate an issue.

The USB to serial is the gateway that interfaces between the PLC and a PC. The PLC is the serial end, the USB is the PC end.

Unless that device has a security protocol/license you won't need it with the wifi solution I posted. It does the serial to usb conversion but makes it ehternet (since most pc's don't have a serial port anymore, but do support the protocol/driver), when you connect your PC to the network and point to the moxa device your PC sees the serial port from the PLC.

read the install manual from moxa
