I am currently in the very slow process of rebuilding my 2005 TRX 450R and discovered a wonderful issue yesterday. What can deteriorate on a Petcock assembly, pretty much has on this bike.

Do any of you have experience with any of the aftermarket Petcock companies?

All Balls

Fuel Star

Rebuild OEM?

This step and the Carb rebuild are all that’s left before the sale, would like to keep the cost as low as possible while still having no issues.

Thanks!

Mine on the 400EX had to be replaced, blocked solid and the plastic filter screen/tube snapped at the base. No Reserve LOL.

$84 OEM Genuine Honda

But I'm not selling that quad, so do what you got to do....

Well... since I got a raise and a bonus big enough to buy a Funco... I decided to go Honda on this and not cheap out. All said and done, OEM seems to be the same price anyway.

Now, it's time to toss the Carb in the ultrasonic cleaner! Almost done.

Thanks for the few replies... I know most of you aren't in shape enough to ride quads anymore so wasn't expecting much.

Same thing happened on my '06. Haven't replaced it yet..
Well, now you know how cheap it will be.

Tip for disassembly when the time comes:

The tank has those brass inserts that hold the Petcock in with 7mm bolts. Those inserts will likely come loose and just spin, just like the ones on the tank do. After YEARS of battling spinning inserts on the Tank/Fender sections with Greengo on BOTH of my 450's, I sat and looked at those fucking bolts last weekend and figured out what was really going on with them... FINALLY.

IF your bolts are just spinning the insert, grab a pair of good needle nosed pilers and grab the WASHER O.D. below the bolt head and then loosen the 7mm bolt. The WASHER is what is galling/sticking with the insert, not the bolt (unless corroded). I got ALL of my bolts out of the Plastics in a matter of minutes after we spent at least a decade leaving the front fenders attached to the tank. In 10+ years of heavy Glamis trips (2005 - 2015) and being on here, no one had that answer for us.

Fortunately, mine came out nicely.
