I had bid on this Wrightwood cabin as a foreclosure auction about 4 years ago. It was a complete gut to my eyes so I bid accordingly. $125K was the top of my mark. It ended up going for $380K. I was blown away but chalked it up to my inexperience. I'm not a flipper. I was looking for a house to buy and had cash to make repairs. Market value for the sq/ft was about $450K if the house was in turnkey condition. It looks like a Chinese company had purchased the house from the name on the title. It appears from these pictures that debris flow broke in through the garage wall (Facing uphill and I had seen severe damage so assumed rot) and flooded the entire downstairs. I definitely dodged a bullet.

Not saying that's AI , but weird it didn't move the chairs around or smash that cardboard box
That was my first thought till I recognized I had been in that cabin. Here is a video showing more. https://www.facebook.com/reel/687677917609461 This pic is from the zillow listing as a foreclosure. I had seen and noted erosion in the side yard from runoff during the winter. Pretty common up there. I never thought it would see this kind of debris flow. 1766940808838.png

SIL has friends up there...mostly the houses along the creek, but they are F'd up... no power, no water....crazy. Kind of like Oak Glen and Forest Falls gets hit all t he time... they got like 11 inches of rain....just insane.

My buddy lives up there. They just got the power back on yesterday.

10" of rain, I. 24 hours, plus the previous fires, will fuck shit up pretty good...

I'm not sure. There was a fire this Summer but I thought it was further North and West. The pics Rivermobster posted may have had debris from that fire. This cabin is well into town. I would think that many more houses up above this one would have been severely damaged from all of the debris shown in the video. No pics or video out yet. I get the feeling that many may have been vacation homes or rentals so the true damage isn't out yet.

This is where the creek coming out of Wrightwood above crosses over Desert Front road. I tried buying a lot of bare land and knew this crossing would be impassable during heavy rain.

Residents only allowed right now.

That MAY change tomorrow.

On my buddies street, almost every house is full time. Secondary houses are the exception and not the rule. It's a pretty cool little town. 👍🏼

id never be able to sleep with that type destruction on my mind. I mean we live thru tornados every year, but a flood, i'm out

Eff tornadoes, I'm not Dorothy in OZ....I'll stick with earthquakes LOL
Thats why I live where I live in Az, No Tornados, No Earthquakes, No Wild Fires, No Floods. No Locust just a little heat
