  1. Hey everyone,
Hope you've all been well. I've been busy workin and rockin, and through that have had opportunities to pre-run Baja and
even possibly race (navigate) in the near future. I navigated while pre-running the 500 a few months ago, and my driver loved how I operated and
encouraged me to pursue it. So I took the 2 Waypoint Nav School courses here I am. Anyway, our team we partner with/sponsor
is going to be running the 1000 in November, and I'm going to be going down to help pre-run again. I was wondering what helmet is the best bang for the buck.
I'm not sure if I need to get a whooptie-do carbon fiber one (expensive!) or just go with a standard one. (Is there THAT much of a difference?)
    I've been looking at:

    PCI Impact Air Draft
    https://www.pciraceradios.com/collections/race-helmets/products/pci-elite-wired-impact-air-draft-os20-sa2020-helmet
As well as the Simpson Desert Devil
    https://www.ruggedradios.com/products/simpson-race-sa2020-carbon-desert-devil-helmet-wired-offroad

Any other good helmets I should know about? Thanks in advance!

Ummmm…. Can we stay on topic for more than a page, squirrels… everybody still hates the whoops… hahaha.

Organized SXS race in Glamis is likely awesome!! THANK YOU $3 8oz soda RB and Monster for making so many of our Offroad fantasies come true!!!! 🙂

Happens to be a weekend my crew and I headed out there so will see what’s up and report back. Probably just traffic, no spots and mid-dunes closure (CANNOT fence that in so good luck with pass through…).

Serious, and applicable to thread topic, thought though, I would definitely be in for race rental for that if available. I’m generally aware that’s available for Best of the Desert, so maybe? Would likely be in to pay a G or so for something legal and top level/pro competitive, myself. Anybody know of source or down to supply race ready for $$?? 🙂

Reach out to Risq Racing in Utah. I know they probably have an extra car they'll prep and rent you.

hopefully these are personal stories and not stuff off the internet

BTW i looked it up and the right spelling is Jury but through the years has also been changed to Jerry

my trip to the dunes on Nov 4th  was heading past Ocotillo Wells, just coming out of the canyon and my single axle trailer seemed a little squirrely and it seemed low on one side.  pulled over and had lost 2 of the 5 leafs on one side.  the trailer was listing and the tire was touching the inside of the fender at 12 o'clock enough to discolor my fender (no tire damage yet) really no good tools with me.  limped into Brawley to Ace hardware and they happen to have   a 3 set of Crescent wrenches normally $49 for $19.99 on sale.  i bought them for being able to tighten the u bolt nuts but they weren't going anywhere.  I then drove to a few trailer places to get the parts i needed to make the fix at Glamis like a ubolt and plate kit.  but i was late getting to Glamis so i borrowed a floor jack from the place i bought the parts and did this.  it worked so well i drove home like that so i could do it at the shop

the electrical tape was to keep them in there when i was hitting  jumps on the way home😄BE222A8E-0412-4C3D-878F-22DF1C34DB88.jpeg

    That's awesome that it worked!!

Yes and no, I do not think the world would still exist as we know it if one of the narcissistic tyrannical rulers of some of the aforementioned empires had a button to disintegrate his opponent and the entire world in an attempt to stay in power or act of last defiance. Times have changed...

Fair point, but I just don't think it's going to come down to that.

  5. Not sure if any of you listen to podcasts much, but George runs an awesome one in "The Dirt Life."
It's streamed every Monday on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, and is available for download on the Apple Podcast app too.
Guy has all kinds of guests in racing, from small time guys to legends like Rob Mac.
I've had the pleasure of being on it several times, and this one was a blast.
Good laughs and some great guests! Feel free to check it out.

No what he is saying is that competitions who's outcomes require a person's opinion to score the event are not real sports.  That only leaves Bull fighting and Racing as real sports, the rest are games.

Not saying they are not in peak health, physically fit or don't have amazing talents just that is it a real sport when somebody's opinion on how well you performed a trick or move that is subject to interpretation isn't really a sport it's a popularity contest.

    Ah, got it.

Googled the definition, looks to be legit as far as the Rules and Customs and Competitive part.

    sport spôrt

    • n.
An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively.
    • n.
Such activities considered as a group.

When did they add Skateboarding?  What the Heck!!!

I've heard a theory that if you need a judge to tell you how good you did (like in Figure-Skating, Half-Pipe, Diving, Gymnastics, ETC), that it is not a real sport.

Anyone who thinks that gymnastics isn't a sport is an absolute moron.
Those people are some of the most physically fit on the planet.

  8. I don't think some of you guys understand that it wasn't necessarily a "Screw up".
These teams spend weeks prerunning and deciding what lines they wanna take during the race.
It's not uncommon for spectators to set up in a manner where they're blocking these lines,
forcing the racers to make decisions on the fly on where to go. This was one of those such cases.
He went the line that he'd mapped out, and people had blocked it, so he had to work his way back.

Yup.. even saw Laird there again … he lives right up the river.

Ready to go back. I can’t believe how disgusting the air quality is around here (Laguna Hills) right now. Seems worse than normal …

Might be back there in late 2021.

Yeah, Laird lives right there and is always running the Hanakapiai/Kalalau Trail

Rogan might have voted for Jo Jorgensen in the general election but I'm pretty sure that in the primaries he said he liked Bernie Sanders. Given that, hard to see how he's "fiscally conservative".

Well.... he's pretty clear on why he move to Texas for starters lol.

One thing I can appreciate about DLR is he has been the exact same guy his entire career.  I like hearing his stories of growing up in Pasadena (went to John Muir High School, same as me but 18 years after him) and the backyard parties in our town.  But I couldn't finish the interview on Rogan.

I've seen some clips of Jocko on Rogan's IG, dude is very driven.  Haven't listened to Tulsi but I will.  I really liked Dave Smith the political commentator, which was unexpectedly good.  I had no idea who he was, great interview.  I really liked Mike Baker, ex CIA officer.  Seemed to be very candid about how things work in the world.  Didn't agree with his views on the 2020 election fraud but other than that great interview.  I also like most comics Rogan interviews- Santino, Breuer, Bargatze, Stanhope, etc.

Yeah, it took me a bit to get into Jocko.
When I heard he was a Navy SEAL who wrote books and had a podcast, I couldn't have rolled my eyes harder when people brought him up.
BUT.... after giving him a try, and especially after reading his book "Extreme Ownership" I'm 100% sold.
Probably the best book I've ever read. Give it a shot. If you're not a reader, the audiobook is awesome because he
and the other author narrate it.

Here’s our crew for this trip. Mr. & Mrs. Buttcrack (she’s in pink), my wife’s best friend, my youngest, 15 year old (on top) and 2 of her best friends (one is the daughter of my wife’s best friend in the picture).

It’s been a great trip. Flying home Saturday.

Completely shutting down my business for 2 weeks was the best decision.

    Totally relaxed.

    Peace.

    Looks like Hanalei there!

  13. LOVED queen's bath when I went back in 2014. My buddies and I went on a trip and hit it just about every day. You've gotta just wait for the next wave to swell up and push you onto the shelf and then climb out. Wasn't difficult at all.
