  1. I remember a few years ago before the site crash I believe, there was a member who's wife was driving a 2012 Ford Edge when she called him to say that the car just stopped running.  He went to check it out and tried driving it to get a better idea of what was happening.  Got a little bit before it blew.  Turns out it was the water pump, and through the ultimate wisdom of the Ford engineers, the pump was installed in the engine instead of how it would be normally positioned more independently outside.  Turns out the seals failed and the engine oil mixed with the coolant and...well you know how it ended.  Anyway, my wife has the same car and it's coming up on the 90k miles mark ( seem to remember him saying it was how many miles he had on his ) and thought about getting it replaced before it blows my engine too.  So, looking for a referral to a mechanic in metro Phoenix that could do the job at a reasonable price.

  2. Ahh...the ole' "Quality of Life" question, what's the price of happiness?  Taking Control of your own destiny is where it starts.  You've proven that you can make money for other people, start making it for yourself.  There are just too many variables involved to make certain you're making the right choices.  Sounds like you already know what you want to do, just need a push.

  3. **Phoenix, Az.**No doubt about it, employee retention these days is rough.  Want to say it's the higher pay that we're having to start new employees at.  Don't need the money, don't have to work as much because they usually don't have a pot to piss in.

But there still maybe some hope.  One of my skilled fabricators is setting to retire mid-way through this year.  I know I'm not going to find the perfect replacement, so I'm going to have to grow someone into the position.  The last three years of running help wanted adds through Indeed and Craigslist has been nothing short of depressing and frustrating.

Had some time on getting someone in so wrote up the add, shot of whiskey, and hit the send button.  To my surprise resumes came flowing in at a pretty good clip, even a lot from out of state.  And for a change, a better percentage of people that had some experience.  Was receiving new resumes for 5 straight days.  Ended up landing someone that lived ten minutes away, had his own car, and for less than we were advertising because of his lack of experience.  Hopefully it's a sign of things to come.

  4. Holed out two so far, 1st PW @ 89 yards, 2nd 7W @ 159 yards.

The not pulling the flag, IMO, started off when Covid broke.  Golf was about the only thing you could do maskless.  People didn't pull it for sanitary reasons.

  5. One can only imagine what Trump would've accomplished if his presidency wasn't under constant, mostly unfounded attack.  In a way, it could be said that he should win another term in office, as his last term was disrupted by corrupted interference.

However much it seems he deserves and is up to a second term, unfortunately most Americans aren't up to another four years of media manipulation.  As for his replacement.  Although DeSantis certainly is a viable alternative.  Pulling him away from the success he's had in Florida is unnecessary at this time.  At this age he could still run for President in the late 2020's, early 2030's.  If I had to take a stab to back someone for the 2024 run, it'd be a Pompeo/ Gabbard or Haily ticket.

Could you imagine buying that toy hauler without know the history behind the guy that owned it, and wondering why everywhere you go people are cussing you out, flipping you off,  or hucking crap at you.

Well then, enlighten us stupid people.... tell us how None of this is because of the direction this government is going.....tell us how we are on the right track.

Whoa...Slow your scroll.  These are some tid-bits I plucked from another post in this thread.  And since then the poster of those comments seems to be standing firm behind them, and waiting to be proven otherwise.  Unfortunately though, it appears he has forgotten Brandon's first day at the helm.  If I remember correctly he had a stack of E.O. he signed directly targeting oil supply and production, among other things.  It was the follow up of the promises of he made on the campaign trail.  Since then he and his cabinet members have done their best to destroy the fossil fuel industry by way of overly cumbersome regulations as well interfering monetarily...banks, loans, funding...ect.

What I find most interesting with our Skyward thinking friend was pointed out in his last comments. "Everything would be different if Trump won the election? How?  Sorry to say, but everything is different.  But I guess he could be on to something, Brandon's only policy so far seems to be destroying, and eliminating Trumps policies.

Yes. Suffering. Steel contracting business. I pulled back on business a year ago as the costs and inefficiency equaled slim to no profit. Thank god we are not driving our trucks as often to job sites to install “pieces” of jobs at a time. We used to have to move in on jobs 2-3 times total. Now the superintendents call constantly to get a sliver of the job just to keep it moving because all the trades before us are in a mess also.

Feels like 3rd world status is just around the corner.

Those that blame “this or that” fed government policy for our condition are clueless. Any in power would have made the same QE decisions. It started in the Trump regime. The Dems DID push for more QE but it failed to pass (which it was bound to but they had to put on a show to buy votes). State policy appears to be more damaging. California policy is just getting absurd. We can vote there with our zip code.

Domestic oil production is not down, in fact is on the rise. Keystone is one controversial example that is being overblown.

Yes, some policies have small cause and affect here and there but overall this is just a correction to a worldwide overconsumption economy. This was going to happen sooner or later. Covid just accelerated the due date.

The rest of the world lived with prices this high for decades. Time for change. Nowhere else do they drive inefficient vehicles as the norm as we do.

We are not in control of the worlds resources any longer.

Want to get ahead of the curve? Start selling your toys NOW. Don’t wait until SHTF….

You ain’t seen nothing yet! The “real” bad is coming…..

  9. Distributor and converter of foam plastic, rubber products.  Increases have gotten so bad we no longer do formal price book up dates.  Almost all jobs are estimated from scratch.  Freight cost are just as bad.  Used to be delivery time was our vendor selector factor for freight, now it's back to price.  And being a lot of these raw materials are made over sea's, it always makes me wonder how much product is still on the container ship staging in the ports.

The 2008 recession was bad, but this one coming up is going to be multipronged and is going to cut deep.  The only saving grace as far as I can see is the midterms, and they can't come soon enough.

  10. Was at this party years ago, my friend had to leave so I walk him out and down the street a ways to his car, said our fare-de-wells and headed back to the party.  Just walking along, and coming in the opposite direction is four guys.  Didn't think much of it, and just as we were about to pass one another and of course the smallest one out of the bunch decides needs to say something...to me.  I was trying to think if I knew these guys, but no and as quick as that...WHAM! clocks me.  Dazed, just feel back a bit thinking WTF...  Turn around to head back to the party, kind of pissed and no sooner than I see three of my buddies.  One of them loves to fight. Two guys that sitting in a truck saw the whole thing play out, and went on to hunt these guys down.

Find them in short manner, and sure enough I see the little guy, most notable by the red laces on his boots.  Go up to the passengers side of the Camaro where he's sitting, asked him, "remember me?...Get out!..."  He sighs like he too busy for this, flings the door open sticks his leg out, and I kick shut right on his shin.  Punk was railing in pain.  The other guys were now looking a six on three and decided it was a better scoop up junior and high tail it.

  11. If I remember correctly, due to contractual obligation McQueen was prohibited from racing motorcycles during filming projects.  And just like any other moto enthusiast, might as well asked him to stop breathing.  To get around it he would covertly enter races under the name Harvey Mushman.

  12. Live close to the Phx Children's Hospt couple miles north of Phx Shy Harbor.  Every bit 70 mph in the winds, was just waiting hear what's coming down of going up.  Section of the ( +/- 12ft. x 30ft. ) neighbors car port roof set sail, left some memorial body scars of their vehicle before docking in my drive way.  Lost power 11:00ish as the winds blew in, and restored 6:00am.  For what ever reason we always lose power in the hood, and getting tired of it. Especially frustrating when you look out the window and see everyone else on the block is still energized.  Looks like it might be time for the Genrac, or maybe one of those Tesla batteries if it could support the whole house load.
