Update...finally pulled the trigger on a custom build. Granger Ford in Iowa had the best price (invoice minus 2%) but before I send them $1000 deposit, I wanted to see what local dealers would do. I ended up ordering from Aaron Ford in Escondido. They are selling me the truck at invoice which is about $1400 more than Granger but I figure I'll be spending about $1000 picking it up. I also like the idea of not putting an extra1500 miles on the truck.

Did you talk to anybody specific over there.  I am very close to pulling the trigger with Granger as well, but my hesitation is the distance.    If I could get invoice here it would be worth spending the additional 1800.00.  Granger is 6K below MSRP on a 250 Lariat.

  2. Probably a long shot but I wanted to see if anybody is sitting on an early 2000 CR 125 or YZ 125 they might be kicking around selling in So Cal.  My son has outgrown his KX 100 in one year and wants to stick with 2-strokes.   May consider a 250 but not sure he is ready for that.

If it's NEVER been registered, than it should NOT have a title.

I agree it would have had to be registered.  It might be MSO which looks like a pink.  If it is an MSO beware, I just got screwed on a KX100 that had an MSO and California won't register it because it has a small stamp on it saying "This vehicle was manufactured for off-highway us only in sanctioned competition events upon a closed course"

Its got to go to the CHP and have a "blue tag" vin # sticker attached by them. DMV should have told you that. 😏

Unfortunately they provided no guidance at all.

  5. I could use some advice on this as well.  I bought my son a 2019 KX 100 last Xmas, and like an idiot I bought it from a race family with only the Manufacturer certificate of origin thinking I would just have to the DMV for a vin verification.  I loaded up the bike and took it to DMV, went inside paid my fees etc. and then was told to drive around the back of the building for the vin check.   Vin checked fine but the engine was missing the Motor ID number so they would not complete the paperwork.  I reached out to the guy I bought it from and of course he had gotten from another race family that swapped the case out when they built the motor and factory replacement cases do not have motor ID numbers.  Anyhow I went home angry and have not done anything with it since but want to get it registered prior to desert season.

Has anybody successfully stamped a motor case themselves?  I really don't know what else to do unless I try the CHP and see if they buy the story and somehow will sign the paperwork. If not, I am going to have to try and sell it hoping another race family buys it and doesn't care.

  6. I have a large blackstone at home and a smaller 2 burner for camping etc. and both get plenty hot.  I usually have to cook on a low to medium setting.

If it is windy it can be a struggle and I will usually wrap foil around the edges of the grill top to help block the wind between the top and burners.

Have you tried a different propane tank just in case?  It sounds like a regulator or valve issue.

  7. If you go to usacarry.com there is a reciprocity map that lets you see the states that will honor California’s permit.  Plus if you travel you can easily obtain Arizona and Utah non-resident permits which give you even more states.
