What kind of paperwork did you get with the truck? Have you inspected the VIN’s tags on the truck like the public vin on the dash, the federal sticker usually somewhere in the door jam? Do they all match to the seemingly legitimate paperwork? My concern is the truck has been stolen and what is known as a “vin switch” performed. That’s where the thief has legit paperwork say from a totaled out truck, and uses that to clone itself using a stolen one. Sometimes they forget to change the ecm which has the vin association with it as well.

So if the smog shop scanned the barcode on the dash to initiate the smog test, then hooked up the OBD2 port and the ecm told the smog machine a different story, then there is definitely something worth looking into.

Vin matched and checked. It was a one owner truck with maintenance records from the start.

That's great and all, but did they say it will solve your problem? I do love those guys tho.

Still researching why I initially lost connection to PCM, not a lot of info on the web about it.
I’m curious if it will happen again and how soon if it does.

  3. Went and talked to the guys at Pro Gear in Kearny Mesa (San Diego). Great group of guys, if you need gearing, axels anything drive train go there. They recommended getting a super chips flashcal. It’s not a tuner but a calibration tool. It lets you set tire size, gear ratio and several other things that I have not played with yet. It gets your speedo correct and makes your mpg, miles to empty more correct and corrects shift points. Checks for codes and clears them.  Program your tire size 2” smaller, I have 35’s and set it to 33”.
    $250 shipped in two days.

So I searched on Google a bit and it sure sounds like the tire size is the culprit. It may have had a tune and it went bad or it needs one to be recalibrated like a hyper tech. When I re-geared my truck, same big tires the shop sold me that tuner thingy to get my shift points and speedometer back to actual. I used Pro Gear in Kearny Mesa. I would call them with your issue and see if they're familiar with that problem. I can bet they are. Good luck!

Good call on Pro Gear, I have been there before with my 1 ton.

    Thanks.

  5. So I bought the truck, really clean and drives great. But,

    Code P0630 vehicle not programmed.
2014 F150 3.5.  Turned truck off Friday night with no light, started Saturday morning and had check engine light before driving it. Drove it about 120 miles and still running great. I have found it might have something to do with bigger tires, I have 315 (35’s). The previous owner said this size tire has been on it since 2018. What is the fix?  The scanner code reader would not clear it. Can an off road warehouse type place clear this for me or where should I take it in San Diego?

I was thinking junk built up in the injection system. There still might be something in there stopping correct fueling. Is this a symptom that just popped up or something that has always happened with the bike?

New issue. Bike has been flawless since day one.

I believe you can change mapping with an app, you try fattening up mid range?

When we first got the bike I read up on all the mapping you can do but decided to leave it at factory settings. It did cross my mind that could be an issue but I don’t think the bike would change mapping on its own.
I do use the app to track hours for service.
Looked at the app when this happened and everything looks normal, no fault codes.

  9. This particular problem is on a 21 YZ250f dirt bike but it could happen on any machine.

Getting a surge or hiccup at about 60-70% throttle then clears up. Low end is fine. I knew the plug was not the problem but changed it anyway and no different.
I’m thinking(hoping) fuel pump but looking for advice where to start.

  10. Thanks for all the feedback. Truck is a one owner 14 F150 with 140k miles and he claims maintenance has been top priority.
This is the one thing I have read about this motor is oil change every 5k.
It would not tow, just a basic daily for around town.

Kind of rare but it could be plumbed in with half inch soft copper tubing.  You might be able to confirm under the sink where they are usually are teed off of the hot water supply.  Remove the bottom front kick panel and maybe the panel behind it and you may find where the water comes in at and be able to remove it there.

    Rayspeed for the win.
