EPO6 "The Strong shall go on" 3-10-2006

What is the fasted machine in the dunes?  It’s been debated time and time again.  Nobody really knows what the best duning machine is, but we were set to find out.  Slappy Racing set the stage to have the top quads and two wheelers compete against each other, ultimately building the fastest quad/two wheeler team.  Hosted by the beautiful Coyote, The Strong Shall Go On would determine who was fittest to challenge the mighty sandrail buggies at the GNC, The Glamis National Championship.  Because all past champions were exempt, automatically qualifying for the GNC, no past champions competed.

This left the door wide open for a new champion; another to join the ranks of the elite.  The final 5 positions would be given the pink shirt to proudly wear amongst their fellow EPO members.

As the sun rose, all the EPO members knew that this would be a grueling event.  Why?  The wind began to blow early and didn’t let up throughout the entire day.  In fact, it blew harder as the day went on, reaching its strongest gusts just as the final 10 racers took to the track.  The racers that drew high numbers were watching and waiting, wondering if the wind would cease.  That wasn’t the case.  The wind continued, making it nearly impossible to see the track itself.  It got so bad, that just seconds after a racer went on their first lap, the wind erased any evidence of someone ever being there.  Many of the racers had to watch the Event Staff Flaggers to help guide their way.  It wasn’t about finishing fast, it was all about surviving now.

35 riders went to battle.  The top 20 would move on to challenge the mighty sandrails at the GNC.
