Are there any tracks near Orange county that are still open for 1/8 cars?

Huckleberry in Anaheim at the Santa Ana River Lakes does 1/8th scale electric.   Otherwise you have to go to Thunder Alley, the Dirt, or Palm Desert.   Can head up toward Camarillo and Freedom Park does 1/8th scale (Friday night is racing - this is our quasi home track.). Further up is Channel Island in Santa Barbara.

Robby and Max BOTH finished.....Max only had one wheel steering.....

Max broke a tie rod and it sounded like RG may have bent one, but fixed it when they were at the remote pit.

Yessir, Matty is a good friend of mine. I was there racing as well. We were just in Phoenix for a 5 hours 1/5 scale endure, his team has won 4 years running

That 5th scale stuff is gnarly.  Like watching Lucas Oil races.  LOL!!!

I will stick to 1/8th scale nitro.   MOD crew was at the TNR race this past weekend at The Dirt broadcasting.

Let me preface this with saying, I love what I do, but HATE where I do it. I've been here nearly 30 years(the only job I've had since getting out of the Marine Corps) and the company just getting shittier every year. I am in design and development for medical and dental small equipment and make a very good living doing it. I have an opportunity to go work for Team Losi/Horizon Hobby in the product development department designing and developing R/C cars and since this has been a passion since I was a young kid it would be awesome to be able to do so. My only issue is it would be roughly $40-50k less per year because I'm coming in at the bottom. Seems like a no-brainer to find something more but I can't get this thought out of my head. So, as the title states, could you? would you? make that kind of sacrifice to be happier in your career or am I just being a dumbass? TIA

Horizon is a big company and working in a field you are passionate about would be fun.   If it was for Team Associated I would say go for it.  LOL!

Just have to figure out if you can afford to take that significant of a pay cut.

  5. Dunes are too rough and not fun on a quad on holiday weekends.  Heading out past China Wall quad is a blast.

Sold my quad last year and my kid's quad.  He started riding a dirt bike in the dunes and like it when he went out with the other dirt bikes in the camp.  Riding the quad was fun.

We have one hold out in camp that will still ride his quad.   He usually gets beat up keeping up with us driving SXSs.   He won't admit it though.  LOL!

Careful I think there are a bunch of closures on that side, but there are some fun dunes over there!

You run until you hit the closures and then pop back onto the Sand Highway.

Going to have to try that next time everyone wants that trip. I'm staying left of the Hwy. Peace

Some good dunes left of the highway down in that valley when heading to Gordons.

I'm OUT on that trip. Been there done that. I prefer the Dunes! Peace

When we go down there we hit up Buttercup after we eat.  We use to hit up Gordon's Well and dune back through Patton Valley before the closures.

Really only have a portion of the sand highway from Roadrunner down.  The rest of the ride is in the dunes.

i dont understand why in glamis someone needs to carry gas in a sxs . i have no problem leaving wash 10 going to china wall the swing set and down to duners diner and back on a single tank. i have brought gas for the quads on that trip because on of the three will run out usually 1 miles from camp on the way back. i do have a roto packs mounted on the cage on the cold side of the engine 99 percent of the people riding with extra fuel don't even need the fuel for the rides they do. i wish them a speedy recovery

The Pro R sucks up gas big time and so does the 4 seat Turbo R.   Neither can make a run from Washes through the dunes down to Roadrunner and down to Duners Diner and back on a full tank.    That is the only time we have to carry fuel.   For regular dune runs there is no need.

Rotopak fuel cans or the Giant Loop fuel bags are the safest way to carry fuel.

Before SxS's, China Wall was empty on the biggest of weekends.  Loved duning out there back then.  Imagine trying to do an EPO race now out there..................just an example, these never happened.:classic_blink:

Plenty of good dunes with very little to no traffic out there.

The China Lake has brought way more that way.   They have discovered the easy straight shot in from the Washes.

  11. Jett getting that win is going to be big trouble for the rest.  He has officially mind f'd the field.   Still think Webb will be in the hunt for the championship this year.

Freise is so predictable.  He should teach the others how to get a holeshot and then they can blow past him before the first turn.

I got flamed for it before but I'll say it again, I was really hoping the economy would have priced people out of Glamis.  Another flame me statement...SXSs have ruined Glamis and off-roading nationwide.  A lot of good people own SXSs.  They are fun, practical, nothing wrong with them.  Then enter the non-experienced sh*theads and a$$holes that their homie, bro, ese, etc...told them to get or the COVID, let me finance my this to get me out instead of going to Disney or on a vacation types.  AND...more flaming...this younger generation (millennials and zoomers). They don't give a single f*ck about anything but themselves..."MY GLAMIS!"  I'll ride where I want!  I'll stop where I want!, etc...  Most aren't on here and stay on FB or IG.  I really lose my chit when I see older folks acting this way...You f*cking know better.  I see their posts...they only care about themselves and they have their stupid mentality that it takes a village for them to have their fun.   "We need help!"  "I need gas!", blah, blah, blah...  I'm not their village and refuse to be.

This season is a wash for me.  Car is not done.  I have been out a couple times to camp with people and might do a couple more but really haven't done any riding.  Once I get my car back together, I plan on joining the off weekend crowd or even the midweek crowd.  I'm done dealing with retards.  Mac has aged out! GET OFF MY LAWN!!!

The welcome to Gecko mid-weekers greeting group is waiting for you.

  13. I did not feel like the camping area was packed like years ago.   Plenty of room in the wash.  A lot of the groups in the wash had empty spaces due to people leaving early.   Years ago we woke up to a group that parked close enough we could hand them coffee through the windows of the RVs.

The dunes were busy in the usual spots, but the rest of them were pretty wide open.   Only thing I noticed is the places groups that were not broken down decided to take a break.

I think Camp RZR weekend is the busiest now.   This Thanksgiving was not bad.

Other than good weather, that was a rough trip for me.  Sand was almost unrideable for a quad.  Even the deep washes were trashed.  My daughter and I hit some ruts on the way to Vendors that were like trenches.

I've never seen it that busy in my life.  Washes were packed to 27.  Crowded at least to 30.

I am glad I don't have my quad anymore.  The dunes were not quad friendly.     We headed toward the Wall and Ceiling and found plenty of untracked sand.

Anything near the Swingset, Olds, and Osborne were beat up Christmas day.

  15. This past week in Glamis I could not believe the amount of groups with kids running around stopped in the worst spots possible.   This were not groups stopped because someone broke.  They just decided it would be a spot to take a break. They were either at the bottom of a dune in a well traveled area or stopped in the middle of a line maybe 25-30' past a transition.  Their kids running all over the place as others tried to navigate around them.

Common sense with their kids went right out the window.

The dunes were weird in some spots this past week.
