Kind of a bummer that you don't get IBPs until the top offering.

They have to cut back on something to reduce the price.   I wonder if the shocks are the same length as they use on the X3.

I am impressed at first blush   -  I think its gonna work really well , but not being 2000 cc+ was a disappointment

Admittedly anyone getting the "full boogie" version with some added accessories will be in 70K+ OTD

First timers need a trailer and other accessories like tie downs etc.  so add $5K at least

Not going to be the $350 a month no money down crowd ... of 2017-2018...

But buddies disagree- they think that $1250 a month payment will not deter, they say SxS's  are still selling very well

I am still not sure how insurance companies cover these high end SxS's so cheap  - Of the last two Pro-R's in My crew, the newest one Lawn darted and ripped the tabs off - totalled and insurance paid out in full $59k  and he made only one $61 payment  (totaled in under 30 days)

My 60K truck costs me $2400 in insurance a year  - weird

People will just have to make bigger down payments or the financing will soon be 10 years to make the payment more reasonable.   Interest rates have to be stupid high on a powersports loan these days.

So the 2023 XRS weighs 1680 lb with 200 horsepower. Right now every BRP website showing specs is down but I thought I read somewhere 2200 lb for the new car. So is it indeed 500 lb heavier? I equate that in my mind thinking about a sport quad from Honda weighs 350 lb. A dirt bike weighs 225 to 250. 500 lb for only another 30 horsepower does not seem like the right direction for a zippy duner.

The top model Maverick R is 2250 and the base model is 2150.

Depending on the gearing and the fact it should have very little to zero turbo lag it should be quite zippy.  Can Am is not going to release a dog in the dunes.    It is 35 more hp.

7 actual gears and zero concern for fuel economy probably means this car will get more of its horsepower to the ground (with very little time outside of peak power due to gear spread), so I assume it'll be noticeably faster despite the heft.  CVTs will always have a little trouble at low speeds due to gearing/clutching limitations.

I'm curious if the base car is IBPs or just regular non-position sensitive shocks like the older ones...?  I'm not super familiar with all the SxS Fox shock offerings name-wise.

Base model has the QS3 Fox shocks which have compression only 3 click settings.   The have a model under the smart shock that has the 3.0 Fox IBS shocks.

I don’t really think this is a game changer. Honda came out with the Talon in 2019 that has a DCT. Add a turbo that gets you close to 200 hp at half the price.

Honda with a Jackson turbo is 160ish hp.    I think the Can Am DCT has more going on then the Honda.  How many speeds is the Honda?

I agree not a game changer, but certainly raised the bar.

Ugly as sin.  And i think the DCT is going to be too complicated for most sxs owners. This will result in lots of transmission issues that are self inflicted.

DCT has an automatic mode which is what most will use just like on the Honda Talon.   Guessing the auto mode will shift faster than what most can do with the paddle shifters.   Motor has an 8500 rpm rev limiter and people that do not pay attention when using the paddle shifters will be bouncing off the rev limiter.

1750watts on the stator. I think the previous was 1250 or 1400 without the added technology

Current stator is 800 or 850.   This new stator is huge and what should of been on them to power all the lights and accessories.   I am hoping this new stator can be put on the X3 motors.

Hoping the same with the suspension in real world use. The Dct is the biggest hopeful improvement the motor is the biggest let down in my opinion. Still under 1000cc when Rotax has plenty of reliable power proving engines to pick from and still on a stator. They chit the bed on leaping in front of the competition only bumping the HP (not implying the public needs 300+HP)

I was surprised they did not use a bigger sea doo motor.  I guarantee the new motor is capable of 260hp or more on 91 octane.  Can Am always leaves room for more.

if the tuners can programs the ecu an E85 tune will be in the 300+hp range.

I wonder how big the stator is on the new motor.  Better be a lot to handle all the electronics.   Alternator would have been nice.

  9. 240hp and a 7 speed DCT don’t suck!   The suspension  looks like it works in the videos just not pleasing on the eyes.

claimed 25” of front wheel travel and 26” in the rear.  77”wide.

lots of cool technology with the new Can am.

Can’t wait to see one in person at the Sand show.   Maybe the front suspension does not look as funky in person

  11. Spitz are addicting on long road trips.

My wife drove my friend's truck to Glamis on one of the holiday weekends.  She got pulled over  going down washroad.  Ranger saw a red solo cup in the cup holder and asked her if she had been drinking.  She laughed and showed him the cup full of empty shells.   LOL!!!

Met him many years ago in Mammoth.   He was the only one jumping off Hangman's and bombing the hill the rest of the way down.  This was back when people were skiing on long skis.     He was fun to watch in moguls.

    Great victory.
Pismo was my introduction to the sand dunes in 1972 with a 40 hp Meyer’s Manx. I couldn’t make it up Devil’s Slide those days but had a good time everywhere else.
If it opens up, I’ll have to give it another try.

I doubt it will be fully opened like it was until the early 80s.  I believe some of the land we rode on back then was private property.   Be nice to get it to the original size when it was designated a SRVA in the early 80s.

This sounds like a huge win. I hope it means they will open back up the riding area that was taken away. They have closed so much and limited access to the point people have stopped going. On top of that they were playing games with access using the King tides and or the creek flow to close the beach to visitors. I really want this place to stay open but I personally quit going as it just wasn't worth the effort.

As a kid I remember being able to ride to Devil's Slide.  That place was a lot of fun when it was completely opened.
