    Another Friday in the books!

I learned when you drive around in a state truck that all the highway patrol and caltrans people are looking out for you and willing to help you out. Feels like some kind of brotherhood. I also learned that when you pull some overtime for the state, that it takes an additional hour overtime to do the paperwork to explain the overtime.. 😆

    Enjoy your weekend, peeps!

I've already had an offer for $24k...maybe I should have taken it.

List it on eBay and Facebook. If you get a message on eBay just guide them to another ad so they don't buy it through eBay. I only use it for exposure sometimes.

The market is all over the place with work trucks. Six months ago your truck would have been 30K easy. We are just now getting into construction season so you may get better offers in a few months, but then again, people might be twice as broke in 2 months. It's crazy out there..

    Good luck my man!

I did.  I'm dealing with a lot of the side effects, hence the topic.  I NEED to get off these.  I'm just not sure where to start and was looking for any advice if others have gone off meds and what did they encounter.

    - If you were on meds and stopped taking them, what side effects or issues did you have?
    - If you stopped taking meds, did you end up having to go back on them?

As mentioned, the only one I really worry about is my potassium blocker.  High or low potassium will kill you and diet only controls it so much.

I learned that our body is always trying to find homeostasis, so whenever we put something in our body, it will make changes and either down or upregulate our body chemistry. When you take something for any length of time, you will have withdrawal symptoms when you come off it. This goes for everything....  even foods (sugars, caffeine, etc)

You have to taper off the stuff to lessen side effects. Could take months to taper off..  Try cutting your dosage by 10% every few days/week. You can look up the half-life of your meds to see when it's eliminated by your body and go off of that. So say your potassium meds take 3 days to eliminate. Cut 10% of your dosage and wait 4 days to see how you feel.. feel good? Cut another 10% and repeat. Feel bad? Go up 5% and see if you feel better in a few days. May have to taper super slow..

People, and even doctors don't realize how severe withdrawals can be with medications that you don't even think twice about. It doesn't have to be a narcotic or a "bad" drug. Something tells me you know all this but thought I would share.

Old age sucks but it's still better than the alternative. The science of weight loss is easy. Burn more than you take in. Eat pizza, cheesecake, ravioli, and wash it down with a beer and you will lose weight if you burn more than you take in. Eat less, burn more, or a combination of the two. Burning fat and keeping muscle? That's where diet comes in and I still think you will lose lots of muscle in the process of losing weight but that tradeoff is fine with me. We are generally less active as we age so target a 1200 calorie a day diet and see how that works out. If you aren't losing, drop to 1000 calories, or ride the hell out of that cardio machine (elliptical, stationary bike, sex). I've been picking a 30 minute youtube video to watch while on my stationary bike and it helps. The math works every time so if you aren't losing, your math is off. Your brain will tell you you are starving but 1000 calories is plenty. I started at 900 calories a day w/ 2 days of cardio a week @ 20 minutes each. 6 weeks later, I dropped 24 pounds and am down to 700 calories w/ cardio 3 nights a week @ 30 minutes. It sucks, but the results come fast this way.

It's not that easy anymore. It seems like my body is holding on to whatever I eat. I can't count how many weeks/months last year during the summer I was absolutely busting ass, sweating to the point of my clothes being drenched, and still not losing weight. Only eating lean meats and vegetables, no sugars no carbs. Nothing works..

Forgot to mention that my doctor told me that my body might be in crisis mode, holding on to calories and fat due to all the stress and age related changes. Been making changes to my lifestyle ever since including changing careers.

  5. You're not alone.. Did keto and lost a few lbs (literally 2lbs), eat normal and just keep inching up on the pounds slowly.

I can work a demanding 12-hour day and only sleep for a few hours, haven't sleep for more than 5 hours for years now..

My shoulder, back, neck all effed..

I've tried every sleeping pill known to man and I can fight right through the grogginess and stay awake. I feel like I learned to do that by partying so hard and forcing myself to push through the "buzz" all those years.. I'm kind of glad because most of these sleeping pills are just full of side effects... And most don't allow restorative sleep...It's a real effed up place when you're absolutely exhausted mentally, physically, and spiritually but still can't sleep. Can put you in a dark place...

My pain is manageable but I do a lot of stretching, use an inversion board, acupuncture mats, special seat cushions, hot and cold water cycles, etc. I won't take pain meds but have looked into a few times, but honestly just scared of them.

I can't explain the weight man. I've tried everything over the last 2 years.... every time I turn around I'm weighing a little bit more no matter what I do. 5 years ago I could have just eaten a dirty keto diet and lost 5lbs+ a month.

I firmly believe these are all connected. The pain causes a mood, the mood causes the weight gain and the lack of sleep or vice versa but they're all connected in my opinion.

Boy, I can't wait for those so-called golden years that we were told as young men were awaiting us...🤡🤡🤡

  6. First off.... it's Friday biyatchhes!

I learned that there's all kinds of pest and termite companies out here that use their business as a front for dealing in weapons and drugs. It's not just a couple, either.. I had to write up a bad dude with 72 felony gun counts on his record this week.. Was quite an experience..

What did all you Glamis-loving fools learn this week?

What time are you leaving? I’m out the door by 0600 at the latest, no worries about traffic unless someone runs out of talent

If I leave the house at about 5:50 I can get up to Anaheim in an hour and 20 minutes. If I leave anytime after 6:00 it takes me over 2 hours, sometimes 3.

If I don't leave orange by 2:30 it's nothing but Effery... Again, Orange county isn't the problem though.

The other day I left Anaheim at 3:30 and didn't get home until 7:00. Chit was backed up close to Del Mar allll the way to Santee..

    Motorhomeless route?

Exclusive Look: Inside LA County's largest concentration of homeless RVs

    :bag:

I gave it some thought. Lol

I really feel sorry for people that are looking for places to rent in California. I thought San Diego was bad, Orange County is even worse. I gave up even looking, I just want to get somewhere away from San Diego to rest my head on those long days. My daughter lives in Temecula so I figured I'd park it around her.

What's crazy to me is the traffic isn't all that bad once I get out of San Diego. The 52 is absolutely killing me in the morning. It's half my travel time. I remember a day when traffic coming out of East county was non-existent.

  9. I'm kicking around the idea of setting up a travel trailer for work purposes to avoid all the freaking traffic on certain days. I would probably only sleep in it 2-3 days a week. I thought I would ask here first if anyone knew of any places that allow long-term use that usually have availabilities and don't cost as much as a two-bedroom apartment?

Not seeing a lot of choices in these areas. Any leads or referrals are appreciated!

  10. Was just talking about this on the what did you learn topic. There's no shortcuts, fast forwarding or skipping... I tried to find a way..,😄 I was able to multitask though.

I noticed on mine they gave a hundred different scenarios between men and women, women and other women, Chinese and Mexican, even Democrat, but they didn't show a white male or a maga getting harassed.

You need to be looking at the big picture. The 6.8 million is chump change to Polaris. Maybe even the amount of SXS’s running through our dunes is minimal. Now big picture. The environmentalists and Sierra Club are trying to shut down all off roading. That’s dunes, open desert, trails, etc. How many SXS’s are there in lost revenue now? Not just Polaris, but CanAm and Yamaha, and Kawasaki, etc. The SXS market is ginormous now. Close the deserts and you lose billions of dollars. At least that’s how I see it.

Yeah shutting down all of the desert is a different subject altogether. Their name is tied to the land at Glamis though, not Ocotillo or Dumont or anything like that. This is their property in Glamis. They have a big target on their back now. I guess time will tell. None of these manufacturers were around when they were doing all the closures and ramp studies. And I don't see them as a sponsor for ASA either, who is one of the few groups that actually fight back.

You guys want someone with deep pockets to fight to keep Glamis open don’t you? Well, It’s not just the $6.8 million that Polaris stands to lose if they close the desert down. Theres a lot of revenue in SXS’s that can be lost too. As much as a lot of GD members hate SXSs, it’s those SXSs that may just save our playground.

Seems like a no-brainer but that's chump change for a company like that. I would imagine Glamis side by sides only represent 10 20% of their business. They worry more about their image and reputation. If there was a smear campaign against them by the environmentalists and the Sierra Club, I could see them donating it to them or turning it into a preserve, or some other crazy shizZ. Who knows, could be a big nothing burger, but I think we've all learned to fear the worst and hope for the best.

Garvey all the way !. One can only hope the ignorant CA Dem voters will realize what a heaping bunch of crap they've been tricked to vote for in the past. Shifty ? What a pathetic lying piece of work.

He's one of the biggest anti-Trumpers and tried to get him locked up. California voters love him. I know I don't have to tell you that, but that's the reality.
