Had a great weekend at Glamis. Family friend brought out some pulled pork that was delicious. Our son’s friend came out for the first time to Glamis. We helped put a paddle tire on his dirtbike and introduced him to the sand dunes. He had a great time and I’m sure he’ll be back for more excitement.

I’m not sure who taught the grandsons to do things like this!

  2. Here is a commentary by Ivan Mackovay from the easy English Bible that helps explain the lineage and the importance of it in chapter 3.

Verses 23-38 Jesus began his special work for God when he was approximately 30 years old.

To the *Jews, family history was very important. God had promised to send the *Christ who would be from David’s family. It was necessary to show that the *Christ was a *descendant of David. So, both Matthew and Luke record the family history. Here is an explanation for the two different family lists.

Matthew gives the legal list of names from Abraham to Joseph. In *Jewish law, Joseph was the father of Jesus but in fact, he was not. Matthew starts with Abraham and comes forward in time (Matthew 1:2-16). This shows that Jesus as a man comes from the *Jewish nation. Jesus was the *Christ that God promised to *Israel.

Luke shows that Jesus is not in fact a son of Joseph. So, he gives the list of Mary’s *ancestors. Joseph was the son of Jacob (Matthew 1:16). Heli was his father-in-law (the father of Joseph’s wife Mary). Mary was the daughter of Heli. Probably Luke used the name of the male, Joseph, as it was the custom of the *Jews at that time. The *Jews would not usually end or start the family list with a woman. They would give the name of her husband instead.

Luke shows the family list from Joseph and he goes back in time to Adam. This shows the man Jesus as a relative of all people and not just of the *Jews. God promised Adam that his *descendant would defeat *Satan (Genesis 3:15). This *descendant was Jesus.

  3. In Sacramento at our daughters house for thanksgiving. The immediate family is here so there are 6 adults, 4 children, 3 dogs, 4cats, and 12 chickens! Ha ha never a dull moment and I love it. Tomorrow we drive up to apple hill and cut the Christmas tree and have lunch at the winery. The kids leave for a vacation and Grandma and I will stay with the grandkids for a few days. We will jam home when they get back and hook up the trailer and head to Glamis. Fun times.

You all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  4. Is it possible if the computer controls the transmission for the computer to NOT command the transmission to be put into neutral in a high speed situation like this? I'm not saying that what happened here, its just a thought because I don't know much about the on board computers.

I remember Toyota having a problem with the accelerator sticking in 2010 I believe it was. They recalled the cars for a throttle position sensor and the problem seemed to go away. If it happens to me I think I would do the switch to the first position and not to the lock and throw it in neutral, then hope for the best outcome.

  5. The important thing is your wife is okay. Good job in getting the house key changed.

I thought that having a car with the gas tank fill on the passenger side was an advantage. Things like not banging the door on the pump or bumpers and shorter wait times. Thanks for sharing the disadvantages. I have told the family what the scum of the earth is up to now.
