Kid is getting ready to start Paramedics College next year so we need to start looking into getting a loan to cover the tuition. It is a private college so the normal govt FAFSA student loan isn't an option, nor can he use his GI bill. The school is pointing us/him towards Sallie-Mae but I am not sure that is the best option (maybe it is). What are our other options, what do you all have experience with? What would the best option?

School tuition is going to be $13k ($3k to start, then$2k over the next 5 months). Course is 13 months long.

I'd find one that would let him use his GI bill, Both my kids went to private colleges and we had to fill out FAFSA docs regardless. I know a lot of community colleges have firefighter / paramedic courses and they accept the GI bill funds for sure. All that being said, if they are accredited and can guarantee placement with a city or county then 13K seems like a drop in the bucket.

Wife retired last year.....she's bummed that she hasn't been able to spend like she wanted too....she's adjusting to a "fixed" income. The only way I get out sooner is to sell and move... I don't really care if we do, but it's the only way to survive. We don't have a great retirement, so it will be tight for us. Medical is a killer for normal people until you hit 65.

Ya medical is killer, I just sent our last payment to Kaiser (1900 a month) and as of Jan 1 we are on a new plan at 800 a month with a large deductible but luckily a HSA. Only thing that concerns me financially is hyperinflation and the devaluation of the dollar, if it's tight its only going to get tighter.

  3. I retired a year ago at 54, It was / is a huge adjustment for me personally. I also am an avid cyclist so we travel to do gravel, mtb, and road bike events. We also travel to fulfill "bucket list" stuff. The next few moths we have trips planned to Arizona BDR, Kauai, Scotland / Ireland / England and Mexico. I am planning on either volunteering or working to fill in in an industry that I enjoy eventually as being used to running 24/7 for 35 years at work has left its mark and idle time does not work for me.

i see your point. And it makes sense in a corruption free world. The green business is a multi trillion dollar scam. The same 5-10 giant govt corp rake in huge profits selling a mandated technology, and senators, presidents, congressmen, ceo’s, banks, local officials and regulators are bribed by campaign or non profit donations, and other means. I mighr run for govt office just for the money

First you need to find out if you'll need a permit to set it up.  Only the homeless are allowed to put up sheds of any size without permits.

    *thank you, come again*

Most areas in So Cal allow 120 sq ' before a permit is needed. Lots of 10x12 tough sheds are sold...

….i fear this sxs will  be what helps cause the closure of moab or the rubicon

Just returned from Moab, My side by sides are street plated in Ut. and I still was a tad uncomfortable. There is a funk in the air around that town, they are tired of uncorked side by sides and people ripping around town. I don't think this model will effect riding areas as much as inconsiderate use in and around town does. There are cops everywhere in the mornings enforcing the super low UTV speed limits. Utah just started requiring a UTV test to drive in the state, basically a common courtesy and tread lightly reminder. Where I live the Ranger xp Northstar edition with a HCR long travel kit is super popular, this is not that much different.  Add a long travel kit to this rig an you will be in Jeep Rubicon price territory for sure...

Been looking for the same year span for a Carrera S off and on for a few years. Couple things that amaze me are the retention value (even pre-pandemic) and the turnover rate. Seems like lots of people scratch the itch and move on.

Question nobody wants to hear !

Why wouldn't you wear a helmet in a sandcar ?

Edited to add that I don't want them to tell me I have to wear one , I just  happen to think it's the smart choice.

Great point, My wife suffered a TBI on an electric scooter 2 years ago (no hemet). It's been a journey and she will never fully recover though we are super thankful it did not end up worse. Im not a fan of any new regulations but choose wisely, life is fragile.
