i just installed different non DE filters and will let you know how long my cell can go now as before it was for sure every 4 months at least.  i do remove it when in the winter and water is below 59 deg

im my own pool boy and water is looking fantastic.  the unit can be programmed from 20-100 % power too

X-2 on swapping out the cell in the winter to extend the life as well as it’s not working when it’s that cold.

The way my system is set up, if it gets under a certain temp, 50ish degrees the cell shuts off. This is suppose to help prolong the life. But you both mentioned removing the cell and putting a sleeve in place? Why remove it all together and not just have it turned off? My understanding is if it’s not creating a charge, then nothing will stick to the plates? Or am I wrong on that?

  2. I’ve got a salt pool and use Pentair equipment. Like John said I too have the Pentair IC40 which is rated at 40,000 gallons. It’s highly suggest to go bigger on the cell then your pool needs. It works more efficiently and will last longer. I too use the Easy touch 8 as my panel & controller.

I have a weekly pool service that I’m very happy with. It was explained to me the cell is recommended to be cleaned about every 4 months, to make them last. But cleaning it with acid also breaks down the plates reducing its life. So it’s a fine balance. They had been checking mine and came to the decision that my cell only needs to be cleaned every 6 months. This should be the best for the longevity of my cell, but each pool is different and needs different maintenance.

I was wondering the same thing about Safe glow. They use to be 10 minutes from my house. But looks like they relocated to Lake Havasu. Their customer service was always top notch for us!!!

I’m pretty sure they are out of business. Phones disconnected. Someone asked on safeglo’s Facebook page, if they were still open as he could not get ahold of them, and that was over a year ago,  and they never replied.

    RIP SafeGlo

I liked the screw in RCA jack mounting. Anyone have any suggestions on another brand whip that might mount the same way? Or a whip they like? I don’t need changing disco lights, just a solid color.

    Who you calling a troll?

All those who talk allot of chit behind the keyboard, yet will be right there in the Speed booth looking at it, (Not sure why they would care or want to fight the crowds to see something they claim to careless about!)

And when they see or meet Speeds CEO’s Todd & Robby who will be at the show. They won’t say all the negative crap, but instead say nice things about the car.  Those are the trolls I’m talking about.

I pray this never happens again in our Country! I’m not sure some of our leaders would agree with me?

  6. Just in case you did not see Dumb Azz Newsome give a PSA asking people to help reduce their power usage as the grid is taxed and rolling blackouts could be on the way.

But look at what this idiot is wearing! He’s get a fleece type jacket on with a ball cap. Who the hells wearing a jacket in a heatwave? Clearly it’s cold in his office or home.

Here is mine. Was supposed to be a 30 x40 metal shop but the building department thought I was building a high-rise or a hospital with the amount of studies, inspections, engineering fire suppression etc. so I told them F you I’m just gonna put two storage containers and use that. So that’s what I did. Works great, I actually prefer working sort of outside.

Pretty cool idea. Where are you at that they were giving you a hard time with permits? Could you close in the back and sides of the roof structure?

Good advise on wheels - and lighting 👍🏼

Also hearing I need to reinforce the table

thinking I need a steel plate top on the tables too - have seen that in several shops

I’m all about good lighting. I have a 3 car garage and I have 4 fixtures, each with 2, 4ft LED bulbs with defuser covers over the light fixture. The are positioned between each car on he ceiling. My garage is also fully drywalled and painted with simi gloss paint so that helps make it brighter.

Another storage system I installed are those ceiling mounted storage racks. I have 9.5ft ceilings. I mounted them above the garage doors, so they are out of the way and when the garage doors are open no one can see all the totes & crap up there.

And lastly I installed an attic latter in the ceiling and have around a 8x10ft plywood sheeted floor in the rafters for more storage. Because of the roof peak I can get up there are crawl around. Lots of large decorations, Christmas tree etc.. are kept up there. I might have some old race car parts that I’ve been holding onto thinking one day I might build a buggy for NORRA up there too, but my wife thinks those are gone! 😜

    Everything on wheels!!!!!

I did the same thing. Wheels on everything! Even my floor cabinets have casters on them. I made a plywood base with casters that our chest freezer sits on. I have Dorman type drawers that are my nut & bolt bins, again I built the stand from square tubing and put it on casters. I built my work bench out of steel and put a kitchen countertop on it. It’s on wheels and then has two 4 drawer lower tool boxes on wheels underneath it. My welding table, it’s on wheels! My drill press and hydraulic press are both on wheels.

If it’s not up high and bolted to the wall, it’s on casters. Heck even my Prerunner Baja bug sits on those car dolly’s.

The thunderstorm hit the East County sometime last night. Must have had some good wind too. Woke up and looking in my backyard this morning was like waking up from a rager party and going WTF happened? I’ve got leaves & crap all over the place. And it’s Florida humid and you can smell it!

I guess I now know what I’m doing today after church!

  11. I’m pretty sure whoever is California’s Governor in 2030 is going to kick this mandate down the road. No one is going to want this on their watch, especially when it’s clear to fail. Even the President of the US is going to have to say or do something, as they won’t want California collapsing during their term.

Id hope they would see the dis function & destruction before then, but I think the current administration & its followers will be willing to go down with the ship before admitting they were terribly wrong.

Did anyone notice the new energy bill Newscum signed at 1:30 am on Wednesday? At the last minute and at the very bottom of SN846 it keeps the only nuclear plant online in California open another 5 years, until 2030! They were hell bent to close it, but now they want to keep It open another 5 years? Probably because they know it’s the only reliable high capacity energy we have. Also without the nuclear plant the state can’t make the State required Carbon Neutral goals.

Some democrats are upset with Newscum for extending the nuclear plant date.

  12. Sucks if you buy a new home in an area that natural gas was not put in. On top of the house heater, water heater, drier & stove/oven all having to be electric, That’s screws up putting a pool or spa heater in. A fire pit, plumbing your bbq for NG. All things I have now and would not be able to do.

Just imagine the brown & black outs we might see in December & January with reduced Solar, electric heaters running to keep warm, car charges running day & night. Can’t cook on electric stoves when the powers out, so you can’t eat.

Literally going back to the dark ages when the electricity goes out. You have no back up form of energy.
