  1. We have USAA for the house & wife’s car. We have had very good luck with them.

Prior to marriage 16 years ago I was with Allstate for 15 years. A guy I went to high school with introduced me to his dad, who was an agent. He was into hotrods, and knew about my Baja bug Prerunner and took care of me. So when I got married I kept my truck & the Baja with Allstate as I did not want to have an issue getting the Prerunner bug insured or find out USAA drops if they find out what it really was.

Then when we got our RV 12 years ago we tried to insure with USAA only to find out they don’t insure RV’s and referred us to Progressive. I called Allstate and they insured the RV with no issues and I got 10% off because of my good driver, multi car policy. Right now I have a claim in on the RV as we had a front tire blowout at 65 mph. The last estimate I’ve seen was $17,000 in damage. So we will see if they jack up my rates on my next renewal.

  2. I like House bill 180, which requires a training course before buying or renting a UTV. Too many people get behind the wheel without any understanding of what they are doing.

A simple 30-60 min video when you purchase a vehicle would be better then nothing.

In two weeks they had the walls mostly tacked up.

I went with 3-7k axles. They should handle the weight but will be pushed near their limits..

The trailer is max legal height of 13’6” tall ish. However it is 108” wide so I could have a 104” wide door to fit my 102” Bfd car with paddles on.

It is 28’ long plus the v nose over the tongue.

I’m pretty sure 102 inch wide is the Federal maximum you can be. Your trailer will be 6 inches wider. Are you concern this could be an issue? Did the builders have any concerns building it 108 inches wide?

  4. I have enough extra shirts, jackets, sweat pants, shoes, that no matter the desert or river I’d be fine if I forgot my cloths! Lol.

It just happen one time as I had an extra hoody, so I put in the Rv closet. Next thing I’m cleaning out the closest at home. No need to get ride of a good T shirt, that my wife wants gone, so I hang it in the RV closet. Only wear Ugg boots when it’s cold in the desert, so just leave them in the RV. Got to many hats, toss one in the RV just in case I need one. Next thing I know, there’s a full 2 season wardrobe in the RV.

We probably haul about 500 lbs of “What If” crap around in the RV!

  5. I have Sirius in both of our cars and it’s due the end of the month. Like everyone else I have to do the same call and demand our current rate. Sounds like this year we might not get that from what you guys are saying.

I don’t listen to regular radio and even took the antenna off my truck. But I won’t pay what Sirius lists, so we might be cancelling too! I’ll know in a few weeks when I make the call.

  6. What’s most sad about this thread is the fact that growing up we never ever thought about our stuff getting stolen. Generators, gas cans, tool boxes, 3 wheelers, buggy’s. No one locked stuff up or or came back to camp to find their stuff ripped off. Heck I don’t know if we locked the Motorhome or trailer doors?

Has anyone tried the Apple AirTag? $29

I have hated auto zone for years, because of crappy parts. I went thru 3 ac compressors years ago on a car before we found one that was good, so I never went back.

But talking with my buddy last night, he has had the same response you did. He said never ONCE have they questioned me, I take it back they give me a new one.

Guess I'll need to revisit them, as much as I like rock auto, sometimes I just cant wait a couple days, but looks like I just may have to lol.

I too like Rock Auto, but hopefully you don’t have to try to speak to someone! There is no one to speak too. The only number out there is a corp number and they tell you they do not help or take customer calls. You have to send a message online.

I have a part with a core charge. They give you a date you must ship the core back by to get your core change money back. Due to several circumstances I was not going to be able to get it done in time. I’ve had no luck getting anyone at Rock Auto to help me or to be able to explain the situation to see if I still send it back after the date, will I get my core charge?

Rock Auto has better parts and OEM brands, but in the end it seems like they too have little to no customer service to help you.

  8. I too would assume you would cut into the slab to fix the leak, unless that’s a post tension slab? Then you can’t cut into it.

I’d be worried about soil compaction and overtime the soil settling leaving a void or causing a slab crack or sinking.

what was the reason for tunneling vs cutting into the slab? Also I assume they will stand behind this if in a few years there’s an issue?

  9. If south of I8, I’d bet it’s crop fields in Mexico. Especially is Bobalos said it was burning the week before too. After a few grow seasons they burn the fields, and till the ash into the soil. It richens the soil for the next planting season. In some cases you let that plot rest for a season.

honexduner beat me by a minute! Lol.

  10. Check this out! This so called Mask Mandate Gov Newscome implemented is not really a mandate at all. He’s trying to make you think is a mandate or law.

In fact it’s just a memo, a memo! that can’t be legally enforced.  KUSI did an interview and found this out.

  11. For oil stains pour Lacquer Thinner on it and walk away. It pulls the oil out and just disappears. I’ve been doing it for years, have yet to have an oil stain it did not get out.

Dont know if it would work on rust, but it might be worth a try. I did Muriatic Acid on a driveway years ago and it worked well with getting all the random stains and marks out. But it does etch and roughen it a bit, and the smell if breathed in will burn your nose & eyes. Also it takes allot of water to wash it out, and use a broom your willing to destroy.

Smog Check. and/or registration.  Lie on the Registration & get caught the next time you go to get it smogged.

The flaw in doing a mileage check is how can they confirm where those miles were driven? Anything out of the city or county would not be taxable. Thee are way to many legal issues in this proposal to ever pas and not end up in court due to inaccurate ways to read or invasion of privacy.

  13. If looking to start a business in a few years. A great one would be to start up a business in a town that boarders California, that sells gas powered small engine equipment like lawnmowers, weed whips, chain saws, blowers, generators, water pumps etc.

Locations could be in Yuma I-8, Ehrenburg I-10, Parker, Havasu, 95, or Primm I-15.

Buy all your equipment in AZ and bring it back. No law says you can’t possess or use it, just can’t sell or buy in California.

  14. Besides Sand Shark, who’s talked highly of the Speed Tool kit. I know one other person who bought the Speed tool kit and loves it. I thought it was allot of money, but he said it’s worth it, and he has nice tools to begin with. (Not Craftsman or HF like me!) I think the TT team they chase for has several Speed kits too which makes sense as you can easily bring the tools into the field or  having to go back & forth into the chase truck tool cabinet.

Robby has said they will be making a smaller UTV specific tool kit. I think it was to be out by now, but with manufacturing delays & shortages, Im not surprised it’s not out yet.

I have Rtic and Hooked. Both roto molded. The Rtic is lighter. I have a small Yeti too but bought that used - too damn expensive for the name. All my roto coolers keep ice the same. I have found that if you pre chill the cooler and everything you are going to put in it the ice keeps much longer

That’s the trick, you need to put cold stuff in the cooler first. The cooler is to maintain cold not to cool items.

My in laws have a nice (heavy) Yeti, and they still complain their ice melts. Problem is they put room temperature drinks & cans in it, then expect the ice to cool it. Then they are in & out all day long, with no urgency. Open it, look around, dig to the bottom, find a drink and close it. I’m a get in and out quick, to keep the ice.

My 15 plus year old 150 qt Igloo gets a block of ice in the middle, and everything  is pre chilled before it goes in. Then I ice it all down. That old cooler can go 4 days at the river slid under the back of the RV out of the direct sun. When I get home there is still some block ice still in the bag.

Rotomold coolers are nice & better then my cheap Igloo, but cost 4X as much and are way heavy!

No pictures of said event but one year on the drive home my alternator died just as I left Yuma. My buddy luckily was behind me and we would leave his truck and switch batteries. First time it lasted about an hour by the end of the trip (4 hours) it was about 30 minutes a run.

I did the same thing coming back from a BITD race in Vegas. We did the Battery switch game from the bottom of the I-15 Cajon Junction to El Cajon. Only switched out twice.
