  1. June there is hot usually. Oasis is the best campground in the middle of the dunes and has trees. They have a sewage dump and you can fill water there at the dunes.

You will have to drive to Nephi or Delta to gas, about 35 miles either way.

It is first come first serve but if you are coming after memorial weekend you will have your pick.

Sand Mountain is open camping in the dust and sand as well. But no shade. There are toilets at both locations.

Not alot in the surrounding area. Cherry creek has some dirt riding and really good single track for dirt bikes. There are miles of dirt trails that surround the dunes and you can drive over to Vernon reservoir if you are so inclined... but its a jaunt.

Awesome build!! Very cool to see one come together from scratch. Stackers are the chit!!! I have a nice Universal Stacker I bought from a board member a year ago after changing from 5th’r to pusher. It’s been a great change, so much easier to drive and double the storage. My stacker came with a lot of cool features: belly lift, side TV, power awning, 12 volt and 120 volt interior lights, 60 gal fuel station, 50 gal fresh water tank…. But some of the features I think are super useful but maybe not standard that you should consider are: 12 volt halogen spot lights on all exterior sides of trailer (super helpful loading, hitching, haven’t had a tire go but would be awesome there), built in tool box, work bench, air compressor is on upper deck but switch for it is down on the work bench and hose reel right above your head so you don’t have to go up stairs to turn it on. The things it didn’t have that I’ve added that you may want to consider: small sink on front work bench (awesome when wrenching in trailer), mine has generator box under work bench that you access from exterior door; I put battery bank in there instead, added 2-200 watt solar panels and a 2000 watt inverter. So now I can run all my 120 stuff off batteries and charge them during the day. I would at least pre-wire for solar and inverter, super useful. Also - think about mounting a spare tire under the trailer or somewhere easy to get to when you’re fully loaded.

    Awesome input, thank you!!

    Nice trailer also!

  3. Both are good for the sport I believe.

The issue in Moab is with the huge influx of UTV's over the last few years and they are really easy to street legal here. There is really no enforcement of noise what so ever.

So you get a group of 20 UTV's, they go running through town with their 25 tower speakers blarring some Pitbull song, and billy bobs super duper power adder exhaust system that is a straight pipe stack right off the header running 5000 rpms and it becomes a problem!

If folks would just be thoughtful of others driving through their neighborhoods to get to their favorite trail it wouldnt be an issue.

But we all know how thoughtful most folks are...

With the stainless on the back be careful of where you park your other vehicles, the sun reflecting off of that will burn holes and melt plastic. Ask me how I know…

I believe it! We were at the dunes and my buddy had his rear door open. The sun was reflecting off the top and burning holes in his coin flooring on the door!

I wouldn’t have thought about other vehicles though. But thank you for the heads up!

When i worked in a production shop, it was a panel we got on wrong, we had to hook the forklift to it, to pull it off,

    No chit?!

By the way thanks for taking care of Zach Adams, we are looking forward to getting his car back together! He’s one of my best buds. Should run well! 🙌

In order to do the dropped skirt look, they have to spread the axles... is that correct?

To do them between the axles yes. You can do them front and back otherwise.

I did want the spread axles though so it’s a win win for me. 😁

  7. They just about got the exterior fully skinned, and started doing stainless. I am doing black trims everywhere, but like the look of polished stainless so I had them run it down the sides. Also decided to do the entire back of the trailer.

The dropped skirts are going to look great I think!

I saw a stacker on the freeway the other day that was rocking the same tire size as the diesel pusher (same rims as well), looked a bit odd but sure is a piece of mind.

With the weight of these things, bigger is better I suppose! But those 22.5's are spendy!

Belongs to Dillon Georgian, or it may have sold beause I'm hauling his 5th wheel and two cars to/from Glamis for President's weekend.  I unloaded his 3 seat F9 Funco Tday week from that stacker and they put moving blankets down in the sand for the stacker rear door so it didn't touch the sand.

It is a Trailers Unlimited trailer I believe? I talked with Dillon about buying it before he used it or wrapped it. Very nice trailer!

    Santek trailer?

They are called VWay Custom Trailers.

I have not asked him as it isnt my business, but when I first starting looking at his builds I thought they looked similar to Santeks...So I wonder if they were an employee that quit and went on their own.. just speculation though..

What are they doing for paint process?

It looks to me like the painted the lower half with paint or undercoating.

In the end I will likely spray foam or do a spray on bed liner on the underside regardless.

Utah’s salty winter roads will work through any paint quickly..

Yes on the heavier axles. I like some wiggle room rather than being close to max. Nice call in the wheel size! That will be piece of mind.

    I can understand that.

I think the extra height of a stacker will hide the 108" width pretty well.  Most stackers look "skinny" as a result of this.

That being said, unless you're filing a permit, 108" is illegal.  The CVC (where this trailer will end up) is pretty damned clear on this:

    https://dot.ca.gov/programs/traffic-operations/legal-truck-access/vehicle-widths#:~:text=General Rule,shall not exceed 102 inches.

Awnings, handles, etc, are specifically exempted from the 102" maximum.

To file an annual permit ($90, single trip is $16):

    https://dot.ca.gov/programs/traffic-operations/transportation-permits/application-annual

Not sure how it works for an out of state private party to apply for their not for hire vehicle.  There are also display requirements when running over width (question 9 and beyond):

    https://dot.ca.gov/programs/traffic-operations/transportation-permits/faq

Personally, I wouldn't sweat it.  But it is a reason to get a ticket unless you're gonna get  Wide Load banner and file for a permit

    Rockwood that’s good information.

Mind you I don’t live in Cali, however over width rules apply every where.

I have much experience with over width rules as I own and transport my own heavy equipment.

That being said, if you are someone that is worried about things like this just don’t own them. I am pretty certain the little bit of extra width won’t be what gets their attention, it will be my overall length of 80’ that does!

If you are pulled over for over width, you will likely get a small fine and told to not move if you are outside the transport window. You will then travel on your way..

Again I don’t sweat it, but if you do then just don’t own one.

I've never owned an enclosed trailer, so I'm curious. Is it really only the tape that holds the panels on, or are there screws or rivets also?

There will be trims around all the exterior that hold the ends and they are screwed on. But yes for the most part that tape is it. Pretty tough chit!

when you see them in this state, you always think man I could have built that lol. It looks simple to do. im sure there's some science going into this.

As a home builder I get this all the time. Good professionals always make their jobs look easy, no matter what they are doing!

I just got a quote from him and his prices are totally insane I don't know how a material went up 20 grand in a month from your trailer

That’s too bad. I’m sure that isn’t all steel pricing..

That being said this same trailer from others wasn’t far off what you were saying, and one Trailers unlimited wanted 115k with no insulation or interior paneling..

They are all over the place for sure.

isn't it crazy that these things are held together with 2 sided tape for the alum panels.  they are almost impossible to remove with that damm tape.

    It is nuts!

  18. It was a good day to see these photos! Week 4.

Roof had been done, which will get a full waterproofing to help with Utah winters (I’ve still got snow at home). Wall skins had started as well, and you can see from the pics that I am doing a drop skirt around the tires.
floors had been installed and they are really going to town!

That’s a damn big back door!
Lift was ordered, will sit flush with the exterior walls and is a 16’ belly lift.

I've read mixed reviews on towing flat front vs. V-nose. Hopefully you will share your real-world experiences with us.

It would be interesting to hear what you’ve heard.

I have owned multiple v nose trailers over the years and still own a couple. But never a stacker.
the ones I’ve owned so far have pulled behind my coaches like they aren’t there.

Again not the same as they don’t stick above the coach, but I am hoping for similar results.. I’ll be certain to give an honest opinion regardless.

Dang that's BIG trailer! sounds like it will be dialed in!

Do you plan on towing it with the American Coach w/ 450? or are you going with something bigger there as well?

I'd like to upgrade from my 20' pace American stacker to a 22' w/ V-nose, but new build prices went to the moon, so I'll be sticking with what I have for a few more seasons.

Yes she’ll be large and in charge lol.

The coach will still be pulling it. We thought about moving to a toter but for what we bought our coach for, and the price increases we will wait it out.

She’ll do fine, maybe a little slower on the hills but that’s to be expected.

The biggest thing to me was the v nose. Having a completely flat front trailer it was incredible the wind I pushed. If it’ll just reduce it some I will be extremely happy!

You can tow over 8.5' wide. Here is a quick read https://oversize.io/regulations/maximum-width-by-state

I have friends that have a boat they tow to Florida and back and its wider than 8.5. You may have to do some xtra planning but its doable.

That frame work looks awesome! Sounds like its going to be very nice. Was there a big difference in price to go with heavier axles? Just curious.

I am not sure why folks are caught up on maximum width, as there are many ways to go around it legally or not. But I think it’s mostly lack of knowledge so thanks for helping set things straight.

Are you referring to heavier than 7k axles?

If so I just didn’t think it was necessary honestly.

I did go up to 19.5” wheels though, so I have overkill on tire capacity as that’s what fails from over loading usually.
