  1. So sad, I talked with him multiple times over the years and he always remembered me.  He was a good guy and brought a lot to the industry and sport.

    He will be dearly missed.

  2. I have a Venstar.  A buddy is a commercial HVAC guy.  I'm not sure all the reasons, but he's not a fan of the Nest - something about cycling too often and causing premature failure of the AC units.  I don't remember all the specifics.

I have had my Venstar as per his recommendation for a few years, and I have zero complaints.

First and foremost, thank you Rob for keeping the spirit with Glamisdunes.com.  I know it always hasn't been easy and there have been changes and challenge along the way.  Thank you for keeping anything GD.com related as open as possible and allowing people to share their voice.

So....social media forums that require admin approvals....GHAY!  Why have it?  Nick Farmer and Greg Adkins run the GHAYEST sites that only serve drama and their friends.  Why make them public forums?  Ask a simple question about traffic...nope...no approval.  BUT...if you are an irresponsible parent and putting your new born at risk...no problem.  We can take a dozen of those posts and approve them right away.  Got b00bs?  no problem.  Got drama?  No problem.  Dude can suck a big fat one.

So..."Whips" can suck a big fat one too.  I'll keep GD as my desert forum and RiverDaves as my boating forum.  Just say no to ghay admins and ghay social media sites.

Mac - great points!!  On DWhips, it started as a NO ADVERTISING forum.  That was until Farmer started selling his own stuff, and using it for him to make money.  The rules change as they discover ways to fund themselves. Then for a while, you could post and advertise as long as you were a participating board member.  Who knows now!  I've really been trying to push away from FB since all the political BS and content reviewing and censoring, etc.  I have found myself returning here more, and enjoying the people and content.  No need for that crapshow FB and it's sites.....

In Az, completely legal do it all the time. For me towing over there to the dunes is the safest place to be. From my house I can get into the HOV lane quickly and go thru 6 large interchanges and not change lanes once.  Just hang out in the far left and cruise with the flow of traffic.  Hell I will even time me leaving with the time I can run in that lane by myself all the way across town.

I know it is legal in AZ, but in CA it IS NOT!!  There are several ways it violates their laws - towing should only be in the right lane, and is permitted in lane next it for passing only (nobody ever follows that one), so basically right 2 lanes only.  Towing also has a maximum speed of 55...so no way you should be in the carpool lane, next to the "fast lane"!!

My guys call those "promotion pads"

Several years ago, a guy that I managed (who spoke very little English, and I spoke very little Spanish) was putting on knee pads with several of my crew gathered around.  He said something in Spanish, as I said in English - "are you trying for a raise?".  He apparently said the same thing I did.  All the guys were convinced I spoke Spanish and never said anything around me again in Spanish!!  I really didn't know what he said, but I scared them!  I guess we just thought alike?! LOL
