  1. Dual clutch trans out of this 2018 RS3 today for a trans fluid leak. It’s turnt to the moon on E85 and I already put a new engine in it 12k miles ago after #2 rod knocked holes in the block. Turns out the main input plate for the dual clutch finally got tired of the repeated super aggressive launches and twisted/cracked all to hell.

  2. 5k or once a year on everything, synthetic oil or not. Our new Jeep says 10k on 0W-20 oil...NOPE! Working on cars for a living, I see what happens with 10k intervals. The only thing I've pushed out this time is the motorhome and that was due to less than usual usage in 2020 right after I changed it. It also holds 29 quarts of oil. Getting ready to change it here in a week or so.

2021 Grand Cherokee V6 every 5k, currently has just shy of 24k on it.

2012 VW CC 2.0T every 5k, currently has 163k on it.

2006 Duramax every 5k, currently has 161k on it. Also change external Allison filter and fuel filter every 10k.

2005 Winnebago Vectra 8.9 Cummins, previous owner changed it yearly which was roughly 3-6k miles, I'm doing the same, currently has just shy of 90k on it.

1993 Grand Cherokee I6 once a year, bought it with 162k 10 years ago, currently has 183k on it.

I pulled a friend off the drags after her belt broke on her CanAm, we were off to the side and she came by and ask if we were ok.  I was drinking an ICB, she told me it looked good, we laughed back and forth, she commented she was parched as well.  She was funny, light hearted, and breath of fresh air.....................and pretty hot.

Now the ginger dude that rolled into our camp on Thursday and handed out a ticket because my buddy's week pass didn't have the dates scratch out, he hadn't notice that the store didn't scratch them out.         $80 ticket

I've only ever had 2 interactions with LEOs out there and both were Mr Ginger. Dude is a tool. Last time was Compound days and he pulled me over by the store after I had left the dumpsters when they were still near the store. He came in all puffy chested saying I didn't have a pass. I pointed at my pass hanging from the rear view and mentioned since I wasn't camped on BLM land nor currently driving on BLM land, he was out of line. He said I went around from wash 1 and was bypassing the pass checkpoint. Told him to feel free to ask the two rigs behind me that had just followed me out of the Compound where I came from. He went back then returned about a minute later and said have a nice day. I've seen him on the 10 in Indio since then and he just glares at me when he passes me. Get over yourself dude

I would predict traffic to be a chit-show.  If you really want to go, head out early.   Putting the main event on a Saturday opens up a much larger crowd.

I usually head out from San Diego at 5am. Decided I'm going to watch the live stream  @Looney Duner's house on the big screen tv instead and avoid the mayhem.

Don't be afraid of the doc....sometimes they can help...

It's not the docs I have issues with, it's my nearly non-existent insurance.

I wish I could help. I’ve been a heavy equipment mechanic for 40+ years. And my elbows are about the only thing that doesn’t hurt. My knees use to hurt all the time until I started eating jalapeños there’s something in them that helps with joint pain.

:5: I like jalapenos. I'll have to look into that.

I had to take injections to get mine to stop.

    Wondered about that.

I get it bad sometimes. Makes me pay attention to diet. If you can ditch the steak for a pork loin or piece of chicken that alone can help.

These days maybe look into cbd. Thats an easy fix because you just eat it or apply it. Changing diet sucks.

Do you like salsa? Tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, peppers. Like Robert said chili peppers are super healthy.

Cook with Turmeric or buy turmeric pills.

Make it fun. Look up foods that are anti inflammatory and see what you like. Lots of those food are super tasty. I buy avocados, tomatoes, garlic, peppers pretty much every grocery trip. To me those aren't even "diet" foods. They taste great and actually good for the human body because they reduce inflammation. Which is what tennis elbow is.

I have to be careful with some foods. As of late things like tomato paste or sauces causes horrendous heartburn. Gurd runs in my family, it's showing itself now. I'll have a look into it tho.

I'm almost positive it's been building up I just haven't noticed it until I was doing some work on my motorhome last year and smacked the concrete with my elbow and got funny bone pain like I'd never felt before and it's been bothering me since.

  6. Being a mechanic for the last 20 years has taken it's toll and have been dealing with it in my right arm since latter part of last year. I wear the brace thingy and have tried to be mindful but it persists. Short of going to the doc, curious if any of you have had any luck with remedies or ways to help simmer the soreness?

  7. I personally am staying away from anything more than B20 in my Duramax. I know VW for example does not approve of anything more than B5 for their common rail TDI engines. I believe Ford says up to B20 is ok but not above that.

Good friend of mine drives a 2019 F350 6.7PSD for work and puts on a LOT of miles driving mostly freeway all over CA. He hand calculates the fuel mileage with every tank and knows his truck very well. Several times now has had to put that R99 or whatever form Chevron and noticed his fuel mileage dropped from around 19 to 12 and the power of the truck is way down. Each time after running those tanks down he filled back with regular #2 diesel and the mileage immediately returned to normal and power came back up. Side note; he also runs the HPR diesel from Propel Fuels from time to time and has never noticed any mileage or power differences with that fuel so he was quite surprised with how the Chevron fuel affected his truck.

  8. Thanks all!

Wife and I spent the long weekend up at June Lake where we got a white Christmas and then some. Got snowed in! 395 was closed till Tuesday morning but we managed to somehow sneak out Monday morning in a blizzard. Jeep 4x4 FTW!

  9. Got this email response yesterday from Joana Santiago:

    Hi John,

Thank you for your email. On Friday, Supervisor Lawson-Remer voted in support to approved the new regional transportation plan that will help reduce traffic, fix infrastructure, and improve transportation countywide as the County’s representative of the regional transit agency (SANDAG).
The plan adopted will NOT levy any new driving tax (“road charge” or “vehicle miles tax”), and the vote directed staff to work toward removing the concept entirely in future updates to this plan. The plan will help repair roads and bridges to ensure they are safe and effective while building out a public transit system that can alleviate traffic congestion on our freeways”

Nothing screams “I love to suck c*$k and replace my wheel bearings every week” like those 20x30 wheels with 15 series “mud terrain” tires 🤦🏼‍♂️

Surprised no one has mentioned Tyler, he does mobile tint and a slew of other things. It's been a minute since I've talked to him but he's a duner and I always support our fellow dune community 619-654-7441

    I'm not surprised...

  12. I've had a number of cars tinted by different shops/people over the years down here. Can confirm to stay away from SD Window Tint in El Cajon and Total Tint in Santee. Both turned out to use junk tint that faded and bubbled in only a couple of years and would not stand behind their work.

I can highly recommend The Tint Lab in Miramar. I had them do all but the windshield on our new Grand Cherokee. Outstanding work with high quality tint. Not the cheapest, but not the most expensive that I was quoted either. The owner is a good dude who is busy as hell so be prepared to get on their schedule which is usually a couple weeks out.
