  1. I bank with First Republic.  I still don’t understand how come my bank needed a 30 billion dollar deposit today from a bunch of banks. I moved a 3rd of my money to other banks yesterday just in case. Frb is The best bank I have ever worked  with in 50 years of banking.  Been with them 12 years. Best trained employees at any bank. I just don’t get it.

  2. Thinking about selling my 2004 Funco 2 seat Hustler.   Just not using enough.  I am the second owner since 2006.

460hp C and G. SOHC Subaru 2.5 with Garrett gt2860, Tial Wastegate,Turbosmart BOV, Hallman boost controller , all Teflon fuel lines a fittings. Roll over vent valve all an vent lines.

Engine was opened up and inspected, retuned on the dyno by John at outfront motor sports.  110 fuel.  timing belt was done two trips ago along with the tensioner and pulleys.

Mendeola 2d with Funco nose cone. 3 trips since rebuild by Rancho.  No internal parts needed replacement, all new bearings and seals. Funco did the r and r.

930 gkn cvs chrome Molly cages polished and clearanced. 300m axles. Willwood 4 piston rear brakes. Cnc 2 piston fronts, cnc pedals master and slave cylinders.  Funco mustang 2 power steering. Micro stub rear hubs. Dunesport 2 paddles with no wear like new. Beadlock rear wheels , fronts with implements.

Jettrim seats with custom stitching, headrest’s and cooler cover. Crow 5 points, Scat shifter, Rugged intercom and 50 watt radio with speaker or helmets. Lined carbon fiber vinyl interior panels. Car has a 113 inch wheelbase and originally came with a single child backseat. The backseat was removed and panels now cover the back area. Car has four acro HID’s.  Car has capacitance fuel gauge like the GEN fours. Three panel rearview mirror 2 halon fire extinguishers. First aid kit and a dirt bags “tool bag.

Car has triple bypass rear shocks, Gil replaced the rear arm bushings with the uni-balls.  Funco replaced all the front Heim joints.  All shocks were rebuilt by funco.  The owner of AG, Sand cars Tuned the suspension.  He weighed the car total weight of 1868 pounds with me in the driver seat 160 pounds and full 15 gallons. His comment was weight distribution was just about perfect.

Car has some added bars, including the b pillars and the windshield bar as well as roof bracing for safety purposes. Several bars and gussets were added to the front suspension to prevent cracking in some weak areas that were common with this age of car design.

This is the first and only Sand car I’ve ever owned.  The car can turn on a dime it is way more nimble than a utv. and you can drive with two fingers on the wheel in third and fourth gear on the backside of Olds.  It will wheelie in second and third gear but you really have to try or pick the right spot.  I’m really more of a cruiser as I can make myself carsick if I get too crazy. Car is not great in the Whoops even after suspension tuning and I don’t like to beat up my stuff anyways.  Car tops out at 96 miles an hour on Devils dune in Idaho.  I have duned with big V-8 cars as well as utv’s. It works just fine for both.   I am 5 foot six and the car fits me perfect I’ve had 6’ people drive the car as is. The Brake and clutch can be moved back to their original position in about five minutes for even larger people.  The driver seat is on slides.

The car is going to be at the Funco regatta February 24-26 if you are interested or have someone you know who is interested. I would be willing to sell at the end of the regatta.  I live in the Santa Cruz area so I could drop it off If it’s on my way home or bring a trailer, I will bring the pink slip, not looking to trade unless you have a very specific C8 Corvette.  I think a fair price in my mind is somewhere in in the neighborhood of $33,000.  I tried to follow what other GEN 3 have sold for. But these cars are not nearly as common. One  only comes up for sale every couple of years.   My contact number is (650) 576 0900

  3. Here is mine. Was supposed to be a 30 x40 metal shop but the building department thought I was building a high-rise or a hospital with the amount of studies, inspections, engineering fire suppression etc. so I told them F you I’m just gonna put two storage containers and use that. So that’s what I did. Works great, I actually prefer working sort of outside.

  4. There were Meyers Manx says at two separate auctions at Car week in Monterey that I saw. One was at Gooding, with a VW. Estimated at 45-65k.  The second was at Monterey jet Center, is put on by whatever auction company Hagerty  owns. That one had a Corvair motor and they were looking for 75 effing nuts.  But a lot of rich people at car week so you never know. Seems more like fishing for a sucker.

  5. We are in a High fire danger area, South Santa Cruz mountains, 3 years here now and on to the third and final company that will insure in our area. State Farm.  Started with AAA, Then American Modern, Then Farmers.  Each time I check to see  what the UN- Fairplan is and it has varied wildly each year from as low as 5800 to as high as 12k, and you still need a separate plan for your stuff and liability.  Gavin must be a major beneficiary of this program.  None of these companies care what you have done to mitigate the likelyhood of your house burning in the event, only where you are on a map.  State farm has a subcontractor who is going to come out and gel the house, but with everyone now dependent on 1 company, the likelyhood of them getting to all their customers is low.

  6. Just finished a large 1031 transaction. We used ipx also.  They are good and inexpensive.  We needed an experienced commercial real estate firm.  We used their recommended real estate lawyer, we could not have done this deal without her, indispensable. You can’t have anything go wrong once you go down a path or you can be completely screwed. I don’t know what size transaction you are planning but I would pursue people who do this all the time.   Do not mix primary residence and 1031 properties at all.  That’s just asking for problems, you can only 1031 properties used for income or investment.  I’m sure the IRS would be all over you if you tried to live in it even down the road 5 to 7 years.  The whole point of the 1031 is to avoid capital gains and the idea behind it is to keep using the 1031 until you pass away than your heirs can sell your property and cash out your capital gains with no tax up to whatever the limit is at the time.  Any excess above the limit can be 1031 by your heirs and passed on to theirs all over again.  Everyone should teach this process To their kids,  I wish I had known about this process better sooner in my life I would’ve done things differently.   One other thing to remember is you will have to report your 1031 on your tax return for whatever entity you hold it in for the rest of your life because California wants to make sure they get their taxes even if it’s 40 years from now.

  7. I don’t think house prices are going to be coming down.  The government won’t allow it, Tax revenue runs the world and its based on asset values.  I agree with pretty much everything else that’s been written above posts

I’ve been a homeowner since 1991 saved for eight years to get 25% down and still had to get a $10,000 gift from my dad so we could eat and put gas in the car in order to buy a 900 square-foot two bedroom one bath home in the barrio.   Mind you interest rates were 7% adjustable  with two points paid for that privilege. It was every penny we had. We lived where gunshots car break-ins gang members graffiti were all common.  My wife and I both made $12 an hour at the time. After 11 years of waiting for the neighborhood to get better ,( it got worse)we finally were in a position to get out before we got shot. We moved 6 miles away to the next town and had to pay over asking but at least we were out.  The house did appreciate but not nearly as much as if we’d been able to live 6 miles away in the first place.   The reason for the story is people saying they are worried about their kids being able to buy a house.  I didn’t want my two kids to have to go through what I did, so three years ago I bought a second home that’s being paid for from the rent from the first home 100%.   These will be theirs eventually so they will not have to go through what I had to.  If they need to live in the Bay Area for their job they will be able to, and not have to do a 3 hour commute each day or rent a bedroom in a house for $2500 a month or 15 people in a 3 bedroom.    I know this is not the American way, I hope they don’t take it for granted and appreciate what I did for them. History has shown that The sooner you get into the market and the sooner you pay It off the less it’s going to cost you.

Every component that goes into a  house has pretty much doubled in price in the last few years.    As everyone else pointed out The value of the dollar has pretty much decreased in half in the last few years which is basically saying the same thing.  As far as salaries go, moving to a cheaper area might be a viable option right now for In demand skill sets that can be mobile. My wife works for a high-tech company with approximately 10,000 employees. She’s  one  position below vice president level with 30 years experience and has 50+ employees working for her and hiring all the time.  she’s been with this company 2 1/2 years and she’s noticed that the salary levels offered to current new candidates is approaching her  salary for what she would consider junior level people.  She hires people from all over the world. You can work from Florida or Tennessee with only at 10% -15% reduction in salary from what you would get if you lived in the San Francisco Bay Area  some areas in Asia the middle east Switzerland you can actually get paid more.  Just trying to give people perspective of what’s going on  shows how tight the job market really is

On top of that you’re not competing against your fellow neighbor for houses anymore you’re competing against institutions like Blackrock hedge funds, private equity, REIT’s Hell even Berkshire Hathaway. They don’t  even really care how much they pay for the houses, just taking one more off the market increases the value of their vast inventory which they are happy to rent back to you at market rate.  The government wants home prices to keep going up,  their tax revenues depend on it.  They don’t actually want any more houses built because then they have to provide more services which cuts into their pile of money that they divvy up for their pension and salaries.   My point is . Home prices now are no longer constrained by  what people can afford.   I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t continue.

  8. I think it’s worth more than you think.  Facebook has many 250r groups. Like at least 8. They even vet out sellers and scammers.  Don’t run it unless you pressure test the bottom end seals. I would just change them out for safety.   Use a 520 o ring chain. You will be fine.  I say 5k shipped to the east coast. Not California too many out here. Stock plastics in perfect shape are gold.

  9. When I read this this morning my heart sank. I knew you had a friend who was sick, but had no idea it was Chad. One of the nicest persons I ever met at Glamis.  First met Chad at the Compound. He helped me out and invited us into his group, allowed me to tag along and eat his roost from his turbo Honda 2 seater when I could keep up. Met up with him several times throughout the years.  Always happy and having a good time making sure you did too.  This is the first person I personally know that has passed away from Covid-19.  Rest In Peace Chad. You will be missed and remembered by all who knew you.  Paul, you are not alone in your pain and loss.
