  1. Good Lord, I am over here just trying to figure out why I am able to pay myself with a pay check but my tax lady told me not to. This stuff is so confusing.

I own my truck personally but fill it with fuel paid for by my company. Am I "missing out" on lots and lots of American dollars by not doing more here?

  2. Have you thought about a shell? If you're not planning on taking it off, I would recommend at least considering one. They CAN cost a little bit more if you buy new, but depending on what you haul, they can be amazing. I was not convinced they were worth it until I bought a truck with one. Have had it off of my truck for the last few days in hopes of picking up a cab over camper, and it sucks not having it haha. Its secure, ton of room, lockable, I have even camped in it a few times with my wife (built a platform for the bed that holds a queen sized mattress on top and leaves room for storage underneath) and I dont ever have to worry about whats back there. Its pretty much a huge trunk. I cant imagine not having one now.

  3. Pulled it out and got some pics last weekend. Did some work to it as well. Here are a few shots.... Hope to do the upholstery next year maybe, and might pull off all the trim pieces for powdercoat too. Need to do a little work to the trailer eventually, but the new winch system should make loading it up a lot easier for my wife now. Custom plate with our "ranch brand" on it (means 4 CJs) haha

  4. Has anyone here used this company? They seem legit, small, but thats ok, local to SoCal. I am looking for a back up camera solution for my 2005 SuperDuty and as [bad] luck would have it, my tailgate handle recently cracked. Looks clean, they sell a rear view mirror that looks stock and hooks right up, too. I want it to be good. havent been able to get ahold of them today, but am wondering if there are some reviews or people with experience out there. Thanks all

    That's a rad setup! Cool!

Best mine has ever done is 44 on glass with no wind and the secondaries on the carb screaming. Ski boats, especially inboards, leave so much hull in the water that you've got to have a bunch more power to overcome the drag. Mine is a 351 Turd I mean Ford and I've never seen the tach able to get over 4500rpms underway. For me, that's fine tho as I love the interior room and the ease of access to the engine and transmission when doing servicing.

Ive become quite the fan of old Centurions - yours looks cool! The new ones are are sick too. Floated with a couple up at the end of Navajo Canyon in 2020 with a new sparkly blue one - oh man we were drooling. One of our friends is redoing his 89 Barefoot Warrior - will see if there are a few pics to post.

On that note - I think mine is a Barefoot Falcon Bowrider. Cant find it anywhere online, but thats as close as we've been able to come :dunno:

Definitely a cool boat, I dig the open bow/outboard set up, makes for a lot of interior space. As for the speed, I think it must come down to hull design, mine is a pad V. When it's up on plane, very little is in the water, also I believe most ski boats have a lower pitch prop to help in pulling up a skier. I'm sure with a different prop and possibly raising the engine you could get more out of it. If you wanted too.

I'm just learning all the ins and outs of prop boats, always preferred a jet boat before this, and a might go back that direction at some point. I'm a shallow water river guy, jet boats reign Supreme on the lower river...

Yea thats usually how it works. The hull design is pretty cool on this thing. It was the generation before the barefoot falcon I believe.

Last summer I put a torque shift prop on. The bottom end, out of the hole pull has always been good, but with the TS it will rip your arms off. Didnt gain much on top speed, but have only had it out once with that prop. Not too worried about it, but we all chase something. I just want to have the fastest ski boat out of my group of buddies. I've footed at 50mph behind a friends Barefoot Nautique and dont really have to do that regularly, haha.

I grew up barefooting and still love to do it today. I have a wakeboard, which is fun, but man those boats are crazy expensive and to be honest, I get hurt more doing that than on my bare feet. Low maintenance, easy to tow, not the prettiest thing in the world = my kids can have their apple sauce on the seats and I wont care if it spills (still no shoes though), and best of all, it was just under $6k when we bought 2 years ago!

Boats are fun. Really happy to say my wife and I were able to get our own after a lifetime of going with family and friends. We dont care to be super fancy, but love getting out and taking OUR friends and family now. This has actually motivated me to get the buffing kit out and wake that gel coat up this month!

i don't think you will. i was with farmers for a total of 72 hours before getting hit by the 99 tornado and I was at about 55k in total cash and prizes in damage, rates never went up and I was scared to death but they cut checks like crazy and never batted an eye lol.

    This is not covered

Have a Leak Locator coming out on Friday, then we take it from there. Sucks, but if I don't laugh about it I will just be pissed.... Wish me luck!

Well this past Friday all I could get was 60. I don't know what happened...

Anyway, I'm running a 21 pitch prop, going to start changing the height and set back next.

Maybe your boat is heavier? How big is it?

Just your typical ski boat. Open bow outboard, which I think is cool and unique. I have hardly any pictures of it!

  9. Thought I could bypass the hot water line leaving the tank and at least stop the leak. Tried this afternoon - still leaking. Thats annoying! Looks like its the line coming into the water heater now. Or another line. At this point it all appears to be the same. Have a good tax return coming and a phone call in to the insurance company tomorrow. Im just over a year in to this owning a home gig - is home insurance the same as auto insurance in that do I have a rate increase coming after this? Thanks all!

Anyone else getting ready for summer? Any cool plans? Just gave my little outboard some love.

Polished up, fixed a few minor issues, hopefully go test it out this coming weekend.

It's a 1987 CeeBee Avenger 183. 150 mercury 2 stroke outboard. Seen 63 mph last summer with more rpm to go, but the Bimini was going to rip off, and the dogs were not happy lol. I'll try it again without the top and dogs. Might need to change the prop, height, and set back, but I should see 70 or so.........

    20220327_120832.jpg

How in the world are you getting 63 out of a 150!?

If I can find some pics of the barefoot boat, I'll post them up. Best I've done is 49.6 or something on Powell two summers ago.

is your outside faucet on that same wall as the kitchen issue?

It is. Dug out a lot of dirt today, down to the foundation, and to keep a long story short - I now believe my hot water line, under my house, is broken or cracked. The gate valve on the water heater (going into the water heater I guess?) is old and doesnt seal anymore, so tomorrow we will be replacing it with a new ball valve. Hopefully this stops any more water from going down the hot water line, which is assumed to be leaking under the house, and we can buy ourselves some time while we figure out and then schedule a solution. Blehhhhhh

I have a guy who is awesome unfortunately he is like everybody else that is good  and booked so far into the future, when I called him for something he walked me thru how to do the repair myself.  After all its plumbing how hard can it be.

I hear that. We can manage for a bit, just by turning the main on when we need it and doing dishes next door at my moms (she lives in the guest house - thank goodness!) but are obviously trying to get it sorted as soon as we can. Ive got feelers all over the place haha

  13. Super excited about this.... Water heater on the kitchen/dinning room side of the house took a dive a week or two ago. Its a 19.9 gal and just stopped making water hot. Looked into it the best I could, and without knowing much have determined its not reparable. Its old, and after a few phone conversations with my father in law over the phone and another friend of mine, we all agree.

Ok, thats fine, these things break. Fast forward to this past Friday and our dishwasher stops working well. Its not getting hot water, so maybe thats part of it? I dont know, but it sure seems to suck too. Also a little dated, maybe its time to replace that, too. Yay.

Ok, heres the BEST part. A hose bib on the exterior of the house, directly behind the kitchen sink, started dripping. No prob - got a rebuild kit last week, take it apart to replace the little rubber deals inside, and the screw in rusted out. Cant remove it. Ok thats fine, head to ACE for a replacement part - they aint got it. Ok, its getting late, put it back together, turn the water back on, let it drip into a bucket (about a gallon/day) and address it later, with everything else.

Ok, heres the BETTER part! Walk in the kitchen this morning, and theres water on the floor. Now we have everything under the sink cleaned out, theres moisture everywhere, and ya boy has no idea what to do next. So, are you or do you know a good plumber in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area that is willing to look at a job out here in Rio Verde? I can look one up and call anyone I find online, but like always, wanted to check here first. Thanks all. Wish us luck.

  14. I think he will do ok over there, but really thought and was really hoping Star would have figured something out. Thought Dylan may have been leaving, but he IS the 450 outdoor champ. Curious if they will keep up with the four or five or twenty 250 riders that they have currently. Bummer how most of them are not riding though.

Doesnt sound like they could dig deep enough into the budget to keep him - I think Rockstar will be ok, but would rather see him stay. Cant wait to see how he does this summer. If he podiums I will be surprised but if hes top five I wont be shocked....

  15. I feel like this is something I would be interested in. I cant afford a new one, and all of the big boy used ones are out of my range as well. We want to get something for the family that will get all of us out. I like going just as fast as the next guy, but dont ever let stuff like that ruin my day if I cant. Have been thinking hard about the Honda or something like this - I like this option.

That being said, Im the wrong guy to ask about price, but I can tell you what I would pay you for it sight unseen if youd like

  16. Also curious....

Theres a place called "sounds good to me" near my shop, not far from yours. Ive popped in a few times looking for a bluetooth option for my truck (they all seem to suck and look so tacky....) and the guys there seem to know what they are doing. Kind of funny because to me they come across as a couple of nerdy white guys, but their customers are neither of those two things haha
