There and Windy Point. The undeveloped area of Canyon Lake. Lots of fun back then.

There where some awesome tracks and jumps behind Canyon Lake back in the late 80's. We used to run into a few Pro MXers pretty often too.

I think the storage fee’s put many over the edge to sell and get out. They get in thinking it’s only a $500 a month payment, but then they need to store it somewhere. Now they just added another $125 - $150 a month to park it somewhere. Now they have two monthly bills to pay. A few people I know have to pay to store and they’ve said the places close to home are full with a waiting list and are raising rates.

Then off site storage just adds to the inconvenience of getting it ready for a trip, or the rush when you get home to empty it so you can get it put away.

It takes a year or two, but they realize they only used it once or twice last year and it’s getting sun baked and losing value, and costing more to keep, so they sell it, sometimes taking a loss, but it’s still cheaper then continuing to pay the payment & storage.

I know if I had to pay to store my Class A and pay for another spot to park the trailer, I’d sell it and get out.

I agree. The RV Lifestyle is NOT for everyone. Unless they're trying to keep up with the Jones's.

    That is horrible!

What is wrong with the designers these days!

Oh yeah...they haven't slaved over 100's of pages of sketches then sweat it out in the sculpting bays to see in real life that it looks like KAKA!

Nope, straight to the Computer and send to the 3D printer to start making parts! Faster, just get it done.

My opinion , and it's just my opinion. I wouldn't touch someone else's rig that I didn't know. Carry on...

  6. Papa Perry was that guy that always had a smile on his face. He catered a few customer BBQ events for me in Glamis. He also catered my 40 Birthday party 15 years ago! Wow how time flies. RIP my friend. You are missed. See you on the other side.

BTW those Jack Daniels with Ruby Red grapefruit shots were a hit in camp as others have said.

Seems to me Honda Point would be the optimal vantage point for sunset. Isn’t it the highest “peak” in the dunes? I know a group of more than ten might make it crowded but you’re looking down on everything from up there.

    Same place.

  8. I started going there about 2005-2006. Only about 10-20 people that went there. Someone named it the ledge back then, not to be confused with the shelf. The shelf is another place that some of used to go to watch the carnage after dinner not far from camp. OG

The deals when the market fall will be the bank repos from the dealers that go under.   That is how I scored a deal on my toyhauler back in 2009.

With the current pricing when do the banks make it like a regular house loan and extend it out to 25 - 30 years?

20 year max on loans of $50K or more. Simple Interest loan. The only difference from a house is, you can qualify and purchase a $500K house easier than a $30K RV loan.

House (Real Estate) = Appreciating asset.

RV = Depreciating liability or asset if the owner has title.

Example = $75,000 amount financed on RV.

    $447 a month

    240 months

    @ 4.99%

I think a lot of these financial geniuses are buying and getting a OK deal 10-20% of list then they expect to drive it home put it on every buy and sell forum, list it for 20% over list then make the next genius feel like he is getting a great deal for 10% over after negotiation.

I see it more in the SxS market $25K car + $10K in dealer add on's = Car listed at $45K, selling at $40K and they think they got a deal.

HAHA I wouldn't doubt that for a second. I see it a lot lately.

  11. Let's not forget, those that bought during the HIGHER prices hoping to sell in a year or two. Well if the market tanks, so will the ACV Actual Cash Value of said RV. Unless your have the title to said RV, most likely will owe more than the value, keep in mind this would be in a down market.

For the person waiting until said market drops to have an influx of gently used , not maintained units. Good luck, if the sellers that want out owe let's say $20K more than it's value, who's going to pay the negative? Either the buyer or the seller. It won't be all peaches and cream when the market drops. Sure there will be some deals out there but not many compared to the people that want them.

I'll say it again, price is all relative . You either buy it cash or finance it, it doesn't change the value. People don't buy RV's for the RV itself, they buy RV's for what the RV can do for them. It is a lifestyle that many enjoy.

When people say they can't afford it, well in the RV Finance world, I guaranty the financial banks that loan on RV's won't give you a loan unless you can afford it. Toughest loan in the world. Highest Risk = House on wheels that depreciates at lightning speed and tough to repo.

    Peace out ✌️

Any questions, comments or concerns? If so take it up with Chummin or MWB. 🤣

  12. Quality is the same as its been for the last 20 years I've been around in my opinion. Some are better, some are worse. My only advice that I have found to be true is the HIGHER the Price tag, the bigger list of issues.

After all its a 6.0 earthquake rolling down the road.

A tool box and a sense of humor is needed to be part of the RV Lifestyle.  (or a large pocket book with unlimited funds) LOL

Everyone is apparently having trouble getting consistent supply. The place I bought my RV told me he is seeing the same model units come in with different brands of everything from sinks and faucets to refrig and AC. If he gets 3 coaches or Toy haulers in they likely will have all different brand components. I am sure that alone may cause issues in the future (untested)

BINGO. Parts will be an issue for a few years to come.

We saw this in the early 2000's as demand from HELOC ballers drove sales of recreational vehicles of all types through the roof. Keep that in mind as you look for a used RV in the next several years. These are the years you want to stay away from. Standard stick built RVs have always been of subpar quality with some outliers like Lazy Days, Okanogan, bigfoot. Mostly the small builders that have been building the same designs for many years that haven't sold out to the big conglomerates.  If an RV comes from Indiana, I would be very careful.

Only about 80% come from Indiana. lol

Or does everyone's office have that one urinal that by early afternoon there is a piss puddle that everyone avoids standing in???  Blech...

    Some folks are disgusting...

What's the average age used by said urinals? It's either pure laziness or could be weak stream from prostate issues.

  16. Most RV's are built the same. With very few exceptions. The exceptions are NOT CHEAP. You do get what you pay for in this industry.

From my experience and my personal opinion based on quality of components used, background of the manufacturer and lastly fit and finish.

Most RV's fit and finish are pretty much the same they've been for me in the last 20 years. The pandemic did not change the quality, but are almost virtually impossible to complete because of lack of parts and work force.

Get the RV that makes you happy! Don't care what others will think, unless that's a concern to you.

Buy as big as you can afford. Don't fall victim to the 3' rule. 3 years into it you want 3 more feet plus to accommodate you.

Lastly, this not a ROI in the form of CASH. The return on investment is the memories and heart aches that go along with the RV lifestyle.

YOU NEED 2 THNGS TO OWN AN RV....

A Tool Box and a sense of humor.

    Good luck and enjoy!!
