Add me to that list. Our health care system is so broken. Can't get an appointment for 6 weeks. Got to wait more than 3 months for a specialist. Anything other than using a stethoscope takes three visits to get scheduled, and then takes six months to get any kind of procedure done. Every time I go, there's a new doctor. My doctor of 23 years retired in 2020 and I haven't had a decent doctor that gave a chit sense..So impersonal now.. I did have an urgent need which I sought out a cash doctor and boy that sure is a different world.. things happened in days, not months..

And just for the record, we have pretty decent EPO insurance. We get to choose between UCSD Scripps and Sharp..

Must be local.  I see my GP within a couple days of calling.

I'm in manufacturing.  Large percentage of our stuff goes to municipalities.  This is good, but it's a long sell.  18 months sometimes. Outside of general money issues, lead times kill us.  64 weeks for a hydraulic valve.  WTF?

  2. Just a little FYI....  For the guys looking to do a J series engine and go the JDM route.  While the engines appear to be the same, the wire harness is not.  Some people might use them but I DO NOT.  A North American market harness will need to be sourced.

Tried that (wife’s in the vet field,) all her friends are vets). Hot dogs worked better long term, other than she starts begging every time there are fireworks…

Hot dogs?  How does that work?  Is it just a distraction?

In our neighborhood fireworks will go off for HOURS.  Give them each a Tramadol, everybody is Fonzy.

Had a dog that lost her chit during fireworks. Started making her sit and gave her super favorite treats like hot dogs, spam, something that she’ll sit still for.

Doesn’t like them now, but they don’t really bother her either. Better than shivering and pissing herself in a corner though.

https://www.rover.com/blog/why-are-dogs-afraid-of-fireworks/#:~:text=Research shows at least 40,ring in at 190 decibels.

Bunch of other ideas here, but the above worked best for her.

My dogs get sedated.  Just ask the vet.  It's easier on all of us.  I don't need 400lbs of Rottweilers loosing their chit over fireworks.

  5. Contrats to your kid and to you.  This was an accomplishment for your family.

While I don't have any kids (by choice..I'm 45) I will say that my relationship with my dad has grown as I became an adult.  He was "the dad" for me and many as a kid and a young man.  Similar to your other thread, my dad was the soccer/baseball coach for many.  "Kids" still stop by his house to say hi.

Today, he is as much my friend as he is my dad.  I hope you two find that.  Your journey is still young.

  6. My varsity HS football coach was an absolute A$$hole. Not because he was "hard', mostly because he was a brain dead.  He thought we sucked because we we were out of shape and got tired during the game.  Couldn't be the fact that we only had about 15 guys on the team because EVERYONE hated him...  So, what did we do during practice?  Run and run and run.  Not practice actual football skills or plays. F'n idiot.

So glad this guy was a positive influence on the community, and sounds like he will take it with him to the next one.

That is something I have considered myself using a relay and a power source lead with something like a battery clip to connect to a power source. It would send a full 12 volts to the brakes but for me I'd need it all anyway. But in that case just wiring in a brake controller down near the hitch temporarily didn't seem like much more work. Finding a wire that lights up with the brakes that's not also a turn signal presents a challenge also. Or just don't signal

The unit noted above plus THIS is my plan.  With a couple wires ran to the coach batteries for power/additional ground.

  8. Me rigging up a temporary trailer brake solution will be a bigger hassle than paper plates, red cups, a pot, and some trash bags. The CA units only have a 4 pin.  The trailer my "quads" will be on needs to have a functioning brake controller.

Probably won't even need the p plates.  Us neanderthals typically only eat with our hands... LOL

Pick up the motie and head to Walmart for all the stuff you need. Just get the cheap stuff and toss it when you're done

    Peas

I won't need any of it.  It's just most of that is supplied with the "owner" ones.  Like most everyone on this site, I have BOXES of camping chit.

  10. Diving deeper into this.  The "rent by owner" sites are more than CA.  By ALOT!

CA has 30'+ class c for $99 a day.  After all the BS, a 7 day trip is ~$1300.

RVeasy (and any similar site), newer similar RVs are $150+ a night, and the fees nearly DOUBLE the trip cost.  This was a '22 24' Class C...

Hit up Blake Rennie of Big Bear / Johnson Valley RV rentals. He used to post on here all the time before the crash.

I need to pick it up in Phoenix.
