Having dealt with the public for nearly 40 years, I found there is truth to the "myth" of the full moon bringing out wackos(lunatics).

My wife is a labor and delivery nurse, this is common knowledge in her specialty that they will be slammed and hopefully offering overtime pay. It’s not quite like clockwork but I’d say at the very least 75% accurate. That and weird astrological instances of the planets aligning and whatnot. Mercury in retrograde seems to be another common one for moms to be heading into labor.

Glad to hear you're ok. I had a 2006 LLY Duramax on 37s and the pitman arm tapered bolt snapped. Fortunately my wife had just pulled out of the driveway at home and it happened. A couple years later same thing happened to me in my truck. Pulled away from the curb and lost the steering. Pitman arm snapped again. Both pitman arms were Moog. I switched to Kryptonite steering parts. Can't imagine how bad it would have been if I was doing 70mph on the freeway.

I had the same exact pitman failure in my 2006 ccsb 2500 Sierra, total steering loss. Has just got off the freeway and was only doing about 15 when it happened. Not lifted and only on 33” tires, 130k miles. Count those blessings!

  3. Speaking of water tanks, on a fractal trailer build I watched I saw their water tank setup, it was pretty sweet. On the side of the trailer there was a typical door for the water fill but it was actually a water pump switch and hose bib. So when you wanted to transfer to the Moho you just hooked up your hose to the hose bib and hit the switch. Probably a common way to do it I just never seen it done before.

  4. Amsterdam. Drugs and debauchery aside that was just a really cool place with good vibes. People on bikes everywhere and hanging out at a cafe in the sunshine by the side of the canal was super relaxing and beautiful. Loved the Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum and Heineken Experience was neat.

I had a similar experience  - I was so happy thinking my tire was out of the way  ... then ok Sh&t I needed it.  Converted the well into a Camp chair  holder ...

All the advice is solid  -

    I would add

nothing is better than Tongue mounted genny with a tool box on top -  you move the battery outside into the tool box   and put an air compressor in there as well, now everything that corrodes or makes fumes is outside  all external connections  and things you need are there and easy to get to and you are not crawling under a bench to check or change batteries and you can run solar wires outside if you want without making holes in the roof  - which is never a win

A Max Air on each vent is always a good idea or swap the plastic tops for metal tops - you won't miss the light  and you never have to worry about a crack or one flying off  while driving

Depending on where you store, a window is really nice to have not just for light  but if it opens its really nice if you are working in there

If you store somewhere your don't want people looking in a nice RV style velcro window cover works well -  its just as easy to break in the trailer door as a window - so theft risk is low

I am huge fan of Fuel stations if you can afford it too

Good luck with the Fractal - Anthony and team build a nice trailer

Glad somebody chimed in with this about the tongue mount tool box. One of my neighbors has a good size toolbox on his desert trailer. Something like 60" x 18" x 18", not one of those trapezoid shaped tongue boxes but an actual rectangular below the bed rail mount truck box. I was definitely thinking of putting the 2k genny in there as well as the battery and maybe an air compressor.  Maybe wheel chocks and some of the other bs like wheel chocks and whatnot.

    - I heard people aren't crazy about e-track on the floor mostly for mud/dirt type stuff due to clogging. Maybe not a big deal for the sand. I asked Fractal to put in 8 D-Rings. Hopefully enough to start. I like that they are flush mount so I don't have to trip over them. Planning to go with E-track on the walls with probably a set at waist height and another at chest or head high for mounting a couple cabinets or helmets, etc. I have a feeling I'm going to get carried away with the E-track.

-Not sure what vehicles are in my future. I'm thinking it'll be 3 quads and a rail at some point. Maybe there could be a kids RZR in there too, I dunno. Was planning to outfit a workbench up front that could maybe hinge up in case I get a dirt bike again and I could just E-Track it to the front wall. Probably just put a rolling toolbox strapped to the wall instead of permanent built in, just to keep it configurable.

    - Spare tire in near the ramp up high seems like the right place for it. On the passenger side of the rail. I've definitely felt the anxiety of wondering if the spare will be enough to make it home, so two is a good idea for piece of mind.

-I guess I'll add that I store it at home in the side yard and security is not an issue. guess I should have ordered a window but too late now.

-Only other thing I'm thinking is I like epoxy floor + poly clear coat instead of rhino lining (heavy and gets hot in the sun) and before the coin flooring too as water always seems to get under that stuff and rots the floor before you can see it. I like the idea of sealing that wood floor as well as possible.

Thanks for all the great input, super helpful.

  6. Putting together an enclosed trailer for the first time. Hauling a sandrail and some kids quads for now. Any thoughts on additions or mods would be appreciated. Ordered a 24’x 106” with drive over wells and that’s about it. Planning on a handful of mods as time and money allow. Pulling it with a discovery DP. Winch and a workbench and electric Jack on the menu. Fuel station hopefully sooner rather than later. Thought I’d ask and see if any special nuggets came up from you guys.

This is a fact. Are you sure it’s only 88”?

first thing I did was check this. Looks like it's a 8' wide box, and then 4" or so on each side of structure. What a waste. No big rails with paddles on. But maybe you could jam a gaggle of speed UTV's in there?

  8. Working on a buddy deal for this thing, but it's probably definitely too much trailer for me and I will probably just turn around and sell it. Is there a market for these right now?

Sorry no pictures, but it is medium blue.

7k dry weight, Triple Axle, V-Nose, 30ft total length hitch to bumper. I guess that makes it about a 23 footer. Winch for door and another for car. 88" rear opening. Pretty bare otherwise and in pretty decent shape.

    Thanks

  9. Not a lot of roads to choose from in that area for evacuation. I've definitely been stuck in traffic in that area, and I mean really stuck. I can see how people had to flee straight to the ocean, no other way out.

Looks like that great big Banyan tree is still standing.

  10. Just sold a le3505, towed it with a ccsb 06 duramax with B&W companion hitch. Towed great compared to a bumper pull, stable in wind, no complaints. Never did fix the wall sag. X2 on the winch in the step. 16’9” to first cabinet and just squeezed the scu in with paddles on. Fit a quad with sandrail in there pretty easily. Young kids made the setup unmanageable though, switching to a DP and enclosed for a while.

  11. Just got one of these for the RV. Admittedly it's just in my backyard or the moment but it's manageable for a storage compartment and throw it up on a camp table, and the price can't be beat. Rather happy with it so far!

  12. Not a light bar but Pods, Baja Designs XL80's for the win.

You sold me some wheels and tires like 4 years ago, I only air the fronts up once a season. Freakin amazing with the alumaseal/antifreeze!

  13. Ran into this oldie but goodie learning about C7 injector pumps earlier. Reminds me of driver’s ed class,  way back in the day.

If only this golden guitar riff would break out when I was about to do something stupid!

    Stay safe!
