Those aren't accurate comparisons.  The one linked is lower miles, higher trim, 4x4, and NOT been used as a work truck.  Diesel might bring a few more bucks, but the guy that is buying a nearly 200k mile work truck with a service body on it is most likely looking for the cheapest thing going.

His is probably a $20k truck.

I've already had an offer for $24k...maybe I should have taken it.

  2. I'm trying to get rid of this work truck but I'm struggling to figure out what it's worth. It's a 2017 2500 Duramax with 188,000 miles on it. It runs strong, just had the injectors done about 4 months ago and has new brakes. Body and interior aee good. I've had a hard time finding comps...this isn't my world so hoping some of you might have an idea. Thanks for the help!

First order of business should be to get up to speed with Newsomfornia  tenant / landlord laws. Then have a bullet proof (as possible for your state) lease. The money I spent with attorneys during my ownership of rentals was well spent money.
People claiming to be attorneys on internet forums are not a good source of info.  Tenant rights activists are not a good source of legal info, however they do offer a good view of how some tenants think.

Your "first order of business" is the reason why I just want to sell the place but ultimately, it's not my decision. Laws in Ca seem to lean towards the tenant and the headache doesn't seem to be worth it.

  4. I know there are a bunch of you out there that own rental properties so I'd like to pick your brains. The back story is that my wife inherited 33% ownership of a 2 bed/2 bath condo in San Diego. Her Mom and Brother own the other 2/3 and the plan is to keep it as a rental property. Would it be best to form an LLC or is there a better way to go about it? I'm also planning on being the property manager so any advice on deposits? I've never rented a house before so I have no idea what is typical as far as deposits. I'm learning as I go here but I'm excited and eager to learn the in and outs of this. TIA for the information.

Did you talk to anybody specific over there.  I am very close to pulling the trigger with Granger as well, but my hesitation is the distance.    If I could get invoice here it would be worth spending the additional 1800.00.  Granger is 6K below MSRP on a 250 Lariat.

My thoughts exactly on the distance. I worked with Josh Jamison 619-751-1430 josh@aaronworktrucks.com

  6. New update for anyone that may be following this topic. Just got an email from Ford with a build date for the week of February 5 which was way sooner than I was expecting. Not sure how long after that date until the truck gets to my dealer.

Now wait and see if Ford sends you a coupon that can be used as cash on any new purchase. They did this to me for 2000.00. Took it in and the dealer accepted it. Saved me 2k.

$2k off would be cool! Thanks for the heads up.

  8. Update...finally pulled the trigger on a custom build. Granger Ford in Iowa had the best price (invoice minus 2%) but before I send them $1000 deposit, I wanted to see what local dealers would do. I ended up ordering from Aaron Ford in Escondido. They are selling me the truck at invoice which is about $1400 more than Granger but I figure I'll be spending about $1000 picking it up. I also like the idea of not putting an extra1500 miles on the truck.

I would be interested as well.  Wish they were closer but depending on price may be worth the airfare, fuel and hotel to go get it.

Granger just came back with their quote and it might be worth the drive. MSRP on the Lariat 7.3 that I built is $68,610. Invoice is $65,338, sell price is $64,006.

Got my '23 June 1st. Ordered October 28th.  '23 order banks are closed so you would be ordering a '24.  Grainger Ford in Iowa is offering 2% under invoice on new '24 super duties. https://www.fordtremor.com/forums/ford-tremor-purchasing.6/  Hopefully that link works.  You would obviously have to make arrangements to get the truck but you could order now and not have to wait until x-plan kicks in. And they price hold. I don't think 3 months is a realistic timeline anymore.  There is also talks of a strike so that could have a huge impact.

Dumb question but I don't know so Eff it...MSRP and Invoice are different?

Thanks! Yea, I've been hearing about this potential strike. That would screw up prices and timeline I'd imagine.

I've done my last 3 with ford this way. Do the build on line and get the price sheet. Send it to a handful of dealers in and around you and let them bid it. I saved a ton on mine. It took 3 months for truck to arrive.

When did you order your last truck that took 3 months? That timeline is encouraging.

  13. Good info and the lead time.

The X plan is a hook up for sure. I have read that if you pay for a $35/year membership with Mustang Club of America, that makes you eligible for the X plan after 90 days but I'm afraid that if I wait, the price of the truck goes up and I'd lose any savings.
