Say Fuck you guys, without saying fuck you guys....SMH

I think my days here are numbered. View attachment 151809

I was going to say the same thing in that thread but it had aged.. It's like asking the sister what the brother should wear to school.

If you want to drive what remaining members you have away, fuck with something they hold dear.

Why did these well established brand buy-outs and takeovers decline or fail?

AOL and Time Warner
Daimler-Benz and Chrysler
Microsoft and Nokia
Quaker Oats and Snapple
Google and Motorola Mobility

Cultural incompatibility
Poor integration
Strategic misalignment
Overestimating synergies
Inadequate due diligence

I might be off-topic here, Keep the Original Logo or Modify it should have been a vote on yore poll.

Want to add stuff to GD.COM....add it, make it bigger, better..... but leave the logo alone.
Agreed.....changing to a new generic AI logo isn't going to do miracles to the site. If you want new members then do something to the site, host an event, include social media, actually go to glamis etc......the GD logo is pretty well recognized and is NOT broken. Just me but when the site changed hands there was a lot of talk about new things coming and well.......we have articles and nothing that I have seen since. Just my .02¢

Honestly, I think the old logo has a ton of recognition and really sets itself apart from all the other new social media Glamis pages popping up. I get that GlamisDunes.com could probably use a bit more social media presence, but that OG logo has real history with lifelong duners. I don’t mean to overstep by telling you what to do with your brand—you bought it, and it’s yours to do as you please. But I think you could make it even cooler by leaning into the fact that it’s the longest-running Glamis dunes internet spot. People want to be part of that, and they see value in something that’s been around longer than the latest trend.

A slick new AI-style logo isn’t going to bring in more people. Social media and marketing are changing—folks are getting tired of all the staged, polished BS. They’re craving imperfect, raw, genuine content again. Not trying to tell you how to run your show, but if anything, I’d keep leaning into more videos, news articles, shop tours, and interviews that actually offer real knowledge and history, All that stuff you’ve done has been great, and I think it has and will help the website more than anything. That’s the stuff the new pages can’t compete with. Honestly, dropping the legacy logo would feel like a pretty big L here. Just my two cents.

@RiverDave This is your show now, and you’ve built more successful forums than me or probably the rest of us here. But it’s in all of our best interest that this site thrives. I’m still upset I haven’t even had the opportunity to buy a GD.com shirt!

Side note—either way, I won’t be going anywhere. At least not until the great CV grease debate is over!

I second the very true statement of "You should get more involved with what you purchased, not just change a logo".

Wise advice.

I asked a larger sample size to get it narrowed down to bring it here..

In your mind it is one vs the other.. to me it’s the same team helping each other.

Not even close.

I'm going to ask Gordon Ramsey what's the best drive train combo for a 2 seat mid engine sand car...

You've brought it here. Hopefully you're taking the temperature of the room....

A Logo change represents the business change, perhaps addressing negative perceptions, strategic repositioning? You started off great with video reviews and content of builds, mfg. and service vendors that support and cater to the sand dunes crowds...that was good, but it stopped (yeah, we know the family issues, we get that). GD needs the younger crowds, go after the companies and Social Media sensations that the young 20 somethings pay attention to and follow. What is yore goal, to sell more t-shirts and swag? RDP is an active community, so i doubt that's true.

The two biggest obstacles GD has (IMHO) is the following or lack of:

AP Based Social Media Platforms.
We do not have any presence on TikTok, Reddit, Discord, Snap Chat, YouTube or X. Whatever GD is up to, needs to be posted in short 15-30 second reels on those platforms, always giving links back to the forum, give an incentive to sign up as a member (Whip Flag, Coozie, Stickers). We have IG and Facebook, but they need attention. This is the biggest way to get GD out to the masses, at least you'll get the looks....GOOD content will get them to comeback. If a person has to log on to GD via the internet, webpage - this site will not grow. It's all about simplification, use plugs and features Xenforo has to allow sharing of forum content to social media.

Social Events and gatherings
(Taco Tuesday) build personal relationships, those relationships bring folks back and then they start to participate, buy swag and stay invested. Everyone that is a longtime participating member, went to a Taco Tuesday, etc. They met a fellow board member, built a friendship and started camping together. We cannot be one big happy family, that dynamic never works, but a message board built on strangers/lurkers is just drama (Pirate4x4, HotBoat, MustangWorld, etc.)

So far all the examples shown are the typical AI generic stuff that looks like everyone else's AI generic stuff - boring, will not stand out at all. You could do what everyone else does out of their garage and copy-cat a Coors or Modelo logo and twist it to GD (lame crap, I'm being sarcastic).

I always thought we were Coca Cola (1886) around here, not Pepsi (Choice of New Generation)

Modernize the current logo, we had a more modern version that looked allot like the Dave and Busters scheme just like Fireball Ben said. Don't throw away an established 20 plus year brand.

Well thought out post! I appreciate the time to write it.

There is another hurdle to this forum in particular that was brought up by several people when I first bought it, that is the website has turned into kind of a good ole boys network and not welcoming to outsiders..

The logo change is part of that (and was ironically enough suggested by several of the site supporters) to symbolize a change..

I still don’t have a total handle on the family issues but have been setting aside time and a ton of money to try and turn this franchise around.

I liked some of these logos and again was using that site (which all in about 800.00 all in) just to get us some concepts of which I can have my guys dial them in.

I’m happy to put up a cash spot for a new logo if someone can develop something applicable and better for the site.

Well as said before I’d be happy to explain if ya want?

There is about an 85% cross over from havasu / Parker people to Offroad and in particular Glamis.

What would be a good way to take a large sample while simultaneously bringing attention to the fact that there is another website in the family that would be worth checking out?
