  1. I went there when I was a teenager, with some friends.  It was quite an experience for someone who was not knowledgeable about drag racing at that time.  Basically WAY LOUDER than I had ever imagined.

  2. Just speaking from a common sense perspective, if I was an outgoing President, moving out of the White House, I would be concerned about the proper location of ALL classified documents, to be stored and accessible for the incoming President, and I would be monitoring that nothing of this nature leaves the White House.  If they were already in Florida, I would be coordinating the return of them to Washington before leaving office.  Anything less than that would obviously be putting me at risk.

  3. Thanks for posting this vintage video!!  So many people having fun on simple ATV's, without rangers stalking them.  These were classic, happy days.  I wish I could have been there back then.

I'm 65 YO.  It's videos like this that motivate me to hold off on selling my SxS, and go back next season (unfortunately I skipped last season) with a toy hauler (never owned one) and new, better, more realistic tires and wheels for my 2017 XC 1000R Maverick, and try to really enjoy Glamis on a whole new level that I never experienced when I used to stay in a hotel in Brawley.

  4. I skimmed through it.  They have a great band and singer, but this is not my type of music.  Maybe it would be interesting to record and listen to while I'm sleeping, because the 31 minute duration kinda brings it all together and makes it stronger.

Good thing there were zero murders in the USA last week. This thread smells like vagina.

The issue is that in some states in the USA, like my state, you can carry guns or have them in your vehicle to protect yourself.  Last night I was driving in some of the worst parts of Phoenix, I mean neighborhoods I've never been through in my life, and I felt confident because I have guns by my side.  But in Mexico, the moment you cross the border with any weapon, you are breaking the law and putting yourself at risk of serious jail time, like we have all heard the worst stories of even people who accidentally had a gun and were arrested.

So this is just common sense.  Most people don't want to be at a disadvantage like that, especially in this kind of country.  If I traveled to Canada or New Zealand without a gun, no problem, even though we all know that nowhere on Earth is 100% safe.

  6. I have had to teach my wife not to accidentally click on links like the one shown in the original post.

Personally I'm tired of all the texts that know my name and ask if if I would like to sell my home at some fake address, or asking me if I want to sell my Hummer which doesn't exist.  Thank God for the Add To Spam List option!

  7. @Conrad's post is very well written.  I can't disagree with any of it.

I have lived in Orange County CA for 3 years (HB, La Habra and Garden Grove), and the Phoenix area all other adult years, besides 5 childhood years in St. Louis.

I still like CA very much, and I wouldn't mind living there (in outlying affordable areas), but my wife would not be happy away from family.

I have lived in North Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa, Glendale, Surprise and Peoria.  To me, present day northwest Peoria is the best.

Regarding the overall Phoenix area, the traffic has gotten much worse, but I'm assuming that LA/OC has also gotten much worse since I was last there in 2011.  In Phoenix you need to know your streets and good areas vs bad areas.

Since I love the heat, one thing to really enjoy in the Phoenix Metro area is all the mountain hiking trails.  A whole bunch of new trails have sprung up in the north all the way from east to west, but the older classics like Camelback and Pinnacle Peak are still good.

Outside of Phoenix, that's where I'm very different than the Californians who can afford the prime areas like Havasu, Prescott and Sedona.  Since I'm nearing retirement (maybe), the places I'm thinking about for either full or part-time living are Quartzsite, Superior, Globe, Cordes Lakes, and Kingman.  If anyone has pro/con comments on those 5 cities/towns, I'd like to read them.

Did you hear the story of the lady that

got a call and it was her daughters voice

    saying she was kidnapped?

Yes I did hear about that.  There can be identification strategies like having code words agreed upon, or ask them a personal question about family history.

  9. I rooted for George Foreman in every fight he was in.  I was happy to see him succeeding in his grill commercials.

For those of you looking for someone to like and root for, I highly recommend the UFC, Professional Fighters League, and Bellator.  I have been a UFC fan solidly since 2005.  There are so many fighters with their own styles and stories.  There are great histories and biographies even if they never have a movie made about them.  It has been a fun ride for me.

Whats crazy is they say you only need 10 seconds of someone talking to make a fake like that. Of course “hey alexa” is already recording everything said, along with amazon fire sticks, your phones, laptops, tv’s, they all have/are recorded you.

I'm getting tons of spam calls where no one talks, just total silence.  I usually hang up and block them, but tonight I'm realizing that the entire strategy may be to capture my voice for AI evil doings!!  I need to reinforce my strategy to never talk, no matter what mood I'm in when I get the call.  Yes I'm guilty of saying curse words or sentences when I'm in a bad mood.

  11. With all the fun, speed and excitement I've had in my Nissan Armada and my 2 Dodge Rams (one of them deceased), how can I ever say anything negative about these 2 brands?  I'm with them all the way!!

Even TONIGHT, I was off-roading in my 2021 Dodge Ram 2500, and I wasn't being careful with it.

  12. After a lot of struggle as the trail got more technical, my wife and I made it to the highest point at Calderwood Butte in North Peoria this morning.  It was 90 degrees at 11:00 AM.  I'm still trying to convince her to buy hiking boots.

The view photo is looking out way in the distance toward the Lake Pleasant area, very popular for off-roading as well as boating, and the famous Crown King mountain (the highest peak).

Arrest made in stabbing death of Cash App founder Bob Lee, men reportedly knew each other

I read the article and it looks like this time it wasn't a homeless person or drug addicted thief, but actually a fellow tech entrepreneur! :classic_ohmy:  I bet there's a bigger story behind this if a reporter can dig deeper.

  14. Yes snow is quite an unexpected experience for us desert dwellers.  I almost found out the hard way how dangerous snow and ice can be last year on the ridgeline of Montana Mountain on the Queen Valley loop.

CONGRATS BUDDY!!! That’s awesome, you’re gonna love that truck. Just don’t put the def fluid in the fuel tank like a buddy of mine did in his ford. Now You gotta start a thread and post some pictures! Can’t wait to see it.

Thanks for your congrats and advice about the def fluid, which I still need to learn about.  Here's a pretty decent photo.

Congrats!  I own a '21 3500.  It's a nice truck and does everything I want it to do effortlessly.  However, I miss my '04.5 HO 6speed 4x4 everyday.  Do yourself and your wallet a favor, don't follow Carli or CJC Offroad on IG.

Thanks for your comments.  Can you give me a little more info on your "Carli or CJC Offroad on IG" advice.  I googled CJC Offroad just now and there seems to be a lot of content.

  17. Regarding the video, I think it would have to have some serious performance enhancements to do what the video shows.

Well maybe this is a good place to make an announcement that I bought a 2021 Ram Crew Cab 4x4 2500 Cummins Turbo Diesel yesterday.

When I joined this website and got into off-roading in 2018, I was surprised with what kind of equipment people buy to come to the dunes, like big trucks and toy haulers.  I had my 2007 Dodge Ram 1500, and my small flat bed trailer, and that was it.  I didn't know anything about diesels, and the name Mega Desert Diesel really caught my attention.  I even saw this huge customized diesel pickup one day on the I10 (it may have been a 5500), and I half-jokingly said to myself "Maybe THAT is the Mega Desert Diesel!!?".

Anyway, even though this purchase was not all about off-roading, now I have my 2500 diesel.  And driving it home from the dealer last night, even though I wasn't trying to push it, I felt that turbo power.

  18. Wow this is shocking.  Bob Lee, the creator of Cash App.  This is so sad that a man who gave so much to society becomes a victim in this wretched city that used to be a cool city decades ago.

But yet there will NOT be any wake up call.  No call to action.  No changes.  Because SF and California is so stacked with liberals in all branches of government.

Anyways, this one is a STUNNER for me.  I use Cash App every day.  I really feel for Bob and his family.
