@Grant@Funco What does SSE stand for? Any history you can provide on this era and the workings of Funco back then?

That was a few days ago and I'm old :classic_rolleyes: So not sure what the SSE stood for. Lets just say SUPER SANO ECONOMY.

I can tell you why my Dad called them when we did them with Coils.

That is a gen 3 based car and I don't recall ever upgrading it from coils to Air Bags. Looks to be in excellent condition and original.

  2. Nice purchase , I looked it over at Regatta

Built that car for a gentlemen named Sanjay  a really nice guy. At the same time we did his buddy Mike Arnold that used to post here as Sandy Priaprism.

Glamis CSI Says: Looks like the lead guy lost a front tire at the bottom of the drop , guy's 2 and 3 got it slowed down in time to really do a lot of damage but guy #4 was heading downhill when he locked up the brakes and went over.

In the big scheme of things that isn't a pile up it's a they run fast and close and everybody was on point and got stopped before it got expensive , just one guy had a little to much air under his tires when he got on the binders:point:pretty much this

I typically lead our group and I pretty much drive up on the wheel as hard as I can go. And yes we do follow close. -Ironically we had just taken a break and were just planning on cruising over to see someone at pad 3.  I just plain ass mis read this rise as a roller and lawn darted it off a 16 to to 20 footer, no brakes no nothing no radio call just a sudden stop at the bottom. We were defiantly  a little tighter then at full speed so #2 called it on radio on his way to kissing my ass which caves  in my  exhaust. His son in #3 got it wooed up without hitting his dad. #4 did not have his radio on our channel cam over to a surprise tossed it sideways to avoid but clipped #3 and flipped  it on it’s lid.

called one of my shop kids and said bring me some parts and you’ve got a free ride the rest of the weekend.  Had it back together by 10 am Saturday and burned another drum of fuel.

Question is : Did I run out of talent or did  the shop need some service work :cheff:

  5. Question nobody wants to hear !

Why wouldn't you wear a helmet in a sandcar ?

Edited to add that I don't want them to tell me I have to wear one , I just  happen to think it's the smart choice.

  6. FUN FUN STUFF , thanks for posting. Not a whole lot of us left :classic_biggrin: Early 2000s sand show I think we counted 120 plus sandcar builders.

Crazy to think how outside the norm the original Big 5 was. I remember spending every weekend in the dunes pulling up to the hill or camps and people laughing their ass off at the look. My reply was ..."I know look how funny it looks , wanna take a ride " Even crazier yet knowing we built 20 Big 5's to every Hustler !

  7. We are just trying to come for air after a great Regatta event so I thought I would post up some pictures.

First want to thank all the Customers that braved the insanely sketchy weather and coming out. I'm guessing we must be right with the Sand Goods, the weather cooperated just enough to get the organized events off.

Need to thank some people :

BLM for working with us for close to a year to pull of a fully permitted GECKO ROAD event

Our partners /suppliers for fully supporting us with great giveaways

@funco4lizzleand family for always stepping up and doing the Ladies Run Champagne stop

Our Funco Family Dune/Camp group...always there for whatever.

This years Ladies run was the best yet 28 cars ,nobody stuck,no one stuck or left behind. And everyone smiling. I beleive Mrs @URCLEVER one a special giveaway

Poker Run was a brutal Dune ride Saturday but most got to all the stops. Superwomen Funco came away with 15 hundred Greenbacks  with a Queens over 10s Full house

170 Registered cars   130 or so made it out and 115 ish made the group Photo

We will be stepping it up to another level next year

A little tardy to the party but I have the same wobble in my steering. I called Grant and found that the shaft wears in where the bushings are. So replacing the bushings alone may not fix it. Grant said to pull it apart, clean it all up and put one wrap of electrical tape on the bushing and press it back in. I havent gotten around to do it yet but its on my to do list.

Correct , If the shaft is not worn we can machine a new bushing

Just make sure the bushing is not to tight  or it will feel like no powersteering.
