    That's awesome.

My boys want to switch to 2 Wheelers as well, I'm thinking a modern 250 4-stroke is the perfect fit as well. Great idea going to dirt, where you did - sand is for the experienced rider no doubt.

If they are going to ride in the Dunes, the 250 won't last, trust me.  But a great compromise is a 350, we have a few in our group on kids under 160lbs, they rock them.  Bigger boys are all on 450's.  We had 22 bikes in our group last weekend, they were fun to watch battling thru the dunes, 3 wide at times.

  2. Buttercup Dunes, easy camping, even on Holidays.  The dunes flow and are predictable, but not a lot of them.  If you are on a quad, there is a lot to explore towards the borders, they are too tight for sand cars.  We go there every Thanksgiving to stay away from the crowds (over 30 years now).  But for us it is more of a camping trip than a riding trip.  It is especially good place to teach newbies how to dune as well.

  3. Facts are the best dunes skirt the closures and it is easy to find yourself inside the closure just flowing with the dunes.  This map is really good and simple, thanks for sharing.  All those people that used to camp in Gordons are now squeezed into Glamis, very sad.

Wonder if your lecture came from the guy that came down to cement flats and started saying we should alter the size of our camp in order to make room for his friends and their 14 rigs that were coming in 5 days later. Kept saying “let’s work together”, but in his mind that seemed to mean give him anything and everything he wanted.  🤡🤡

Could be, He started his lecture by saying he has been saving this spot for ten days.  Must have had 100 cones out, and he made sure we didn't move a single one.  Then is wife jumped in the mixed, very grumpy lady.  I was nice and walked away, outside of the mortars a couple nights later they were good neighbors.

  5. I have never seen camping so crowded, dunes weren't that crowded though.  I have been camping in the same spot for 30 years, and I showed up on Christmas Morning and almost couldn't get a spot.  Then got lectured by my neighbors that I am lucky to camp where I am.  Then they proceeded to tell me that the only reason they are camping there was Cement flats and Gecko were packed since Dec 15th.  The lack of respect by the campers was over the top and we camp off the beaten path.

But on the other hand, I felt the dunes were relatively the same in terms of quantity of people.  We had some good runs, yes it was rough, but a little extra speed helped.  Burned 50 gallons of E85, that is always a fun time.

  6. Fact is, moving at those speeds, the radio only helps the #3 and beyond car.  #2 can't react fast enough and the leader can't relay the information fast enough.  Glad everyone is OK.

Happy New Year, nice seeing you last week as well.

Post on craigslist los angeles and san diego. I got hundreds of calls on mine and it sold fast. Its legal to live on the street in them so lots of people are doing it (not just crackheads too)

Seriously, My buddy has a small dealership, says half of his sales are people buying RV's to put on property for down and out friends and people to live on the street.

  9. I have had a 2013 and now a 2019.  The 2013 is still running strong, my son has it.  No big issues, currently has 150k miles on it.  The 2019 only has 45k miles on t, zero issues.  Cam phasers are known and covered under warranty, but I don't think were a problem back in 2014, only newer trucks?  I have towed my 24' box around loaded with both trucks, both did fine.

I work for a municipality.  Probably pretty similar to state.  Easy work, low expectations.  Anytime someone comes in from the private sector, they usually have a work ethic that blows everyone else away.

After running your own business it'll seem like a cake walk.  Just CYA really good.  As for retirement, you'd need to be in at least 10 years to benefit from it.  Get into any deferred compensation package they offer.  Good benefits as far as medical, etc.

You can always do some side work for extra cash $ if you're able to.  One of my new guys recently sold off his pool business and still does work on the side.

I was going to say the same thing, If you can build a pension, do it.  My wife moved from the private sector to a State (technically works at Cal State San Marcos) job.  The Benefits are unbelievable.  Health, pension are unbeatable, but I think it really pays off if you plan to do it long term.  On paper, the salary will look mediocre, but with everything else added in it is like 25% higher than the salary.  Because of this move she did, we will be retiring before 65 yrs old, due to Health care being paid for............
