How much are you all planning to "leave" ... our planner  has us mapped out to 90 yrs old.. and we'll have a chunk still.. are you planning for a big chunk or is it spend my money time????

I guess that depends on whether you inherited money or not.  If you earned it all vs getting from Family, you probably have a different view of the situation????

For you retired fellas, who still has a mortgage on your primary residance?

My very short term go is to pay off the house.  Actual "retirement" is a long way off...

That was my plan as well, before I got 2.5% interest on my home loan.  I am making more money right now is short term bonds/treasurys.  I have rethought everything at this point.

FYI, I wish a million was enough to retire......haha

Internet is going crazy right now about this.  JP Hoornstra of DodgerNation.com has reported that it's Toronto. Ben Nicholson-Smith and Shi Davidi of Sportsnet report that Ohtani has not made his decision yet and there is no timeline for when it will be made . .

I thought it would be SF, but not sure he wants to play in that weather?  SF needs him the most, they have zero star power on that roster.  He really likes the stadium in Toronto and even has visited their training facility is Florida as well.

As a Dodger Fan, I am not excited to spend that much for a DH next season..........we need pitching bad.

  4. Padres had to do this to have some flexibility, otherwise they would have been handcuffed.  I don't know anything about those prospects, but hopefully one of them is close to a big league pitcher.  I think they just saved like $38 million for this next season, that money can be used for pitching.  I think the Padres did the right thing, not sure Soto really made the team better, he is an incredible talent but the outcomes were probably going to be the same with or without him.  Petco was not friendly to his numbers at all, he was much better on the road.

Padres needs the way I see it, DH, 1B and Pitching for sure.  National League needs to get on board with the DH and spend some money for that position, some teams are and some aren't.  They probably can get Profar cheap after last season debacle with him and FA?

    Are those 235/85 Ribs?

I have 225/75 due to worrying about clearance.

I had an additional 2" block added when I had the ordered the trailer just to clear 16" wheels/tires.

Do you have anything added for height?

I put this same set up on mine without blocks or anything, zero issues.  Upgrading to 16" rims was a game changer

As for weight, mine loaded was near 17k, full fuel, full water, Funco Gen 4, two full sized quads (they were stood up) and an LT80 in the Kitchen.  And it was full of everything for a 5 day trip for a family of 5.  Not much else could get in it.

  6. I started going to the dunes in the early 90's, certainly missed all the three-wheel action.  By the time I got to the dunes it was quads and VW powered cars.  China wall was an all day ride back then, nobody was ever there.

    Now my retirement,

almost 30 years developing software for startups is getting old. 401k is a joke.
we invested in land and building houses. Managed to collect some rentals and it’s looking bright in the next 5 years.
We can’t leave CA cause that’s where we build, but a few hours South of here is San Felipe and that’s our goal.

I have been trying to sell the idea to my wife of retiring. in Baja, actually went and look at houses and property in Los Barillas, we actually came back saying we would be bored.  The thought was to put toys and Moho in storage in SD, and fly up and do our vacations in the states and live in mex....................wife said no.  If she dumps me, I still might do it :classic_biggrin:

  8. I have two friends that have retired in the last 2 years, both 54 yrs old.  One of them still has their wife working (Flight attendant) and he sits around all week waiting for her to get home (she is gone 4 days a week).  The on the weekend it is party mode, he got a 2nd job to afford the drinking (I think).  Their plan is to move to Havasu with the other retirees.  My other buddy, is busy jeeping, camping, going to the beach, never sits still.  His only complaint is how much money he is spending on gas, every day he is driving somewhere.  He didn't prepare for the gas and wearing out his cars faster, but he will be fine.

For myself, I have been in the corporate world for over 30 years and I look forward to not turning on my computer every morning.  Slowing down I will do, I already live in our retirement house, so don't need to move.  Each trip will be longer, time for 10 days Glamis trips instead of 5.  Some golf, some reading, some dog walking will also be mixed in.  Hopefully I am done in the next 5-6 years.

Wow - had always heard stories from the days before the fence, but none lately.  Although last season we saw a group crossing I-8 at the canal and barely missing traffic Frogger style midday.

Before the fence, especially on off weekends they would drive vehicles over and try and make it all the way across.  But then again we rode on the Mexico side all of the time.

Nice! Thank you. We always go to the west of the trees out kind of in the center. As of last year, there are no MH in our group.

Side note, we had three nights where people jumped the fence from Mexico.  All three times it was a family with kids.  We talked to two of them before Border Patrol got there, one family was from Peru and the other from Columbia.  Border Patrol was all over it and super nice. The families were nice as well, we were lucky to have some people in camp that spoke spanish.  We have been camping in that same spot for 30 years, first time we have ever seen this.

Going this week, usually camp out west of Plank Rd. Soft out there as well?

We camp straight south of the trees towards the Trump fence, the entrance off the road was very soft, lots of people getting stuck.  There are some soft spots, but the same old typical ones.  That being said we are all mostly Motorhomes and we still didn't get stuck, but we carry good speed, who needs wine glasses, haha.
