I've been self-employed for the last 23 years and I have an opportunity to work as a specialist and enforcement official in my industry. Just wondering how it is working for the state? Looks like all the bennies are under CalPERS. I thought they were going bankrupt? Or at the very least severely underfunded. Has that changed?

Just looking for some guidance on what to expect working for the state (Department of Consumer Affairs to be exact). The good, the bad, and the ugly. I feel like I've seen a few people here that do work there, so thought I'd ask my dune brothers and sisters!

The offer has me twisted in knots as I find it very hard to quit things. My business has been my baby but over the last 3-4 years my industry has completely changed and burned me out. No love for small businesses here, unfortunately. 

Appreciate any insight you can give me!

It started before 2020 I'll tell you that. It took me almost 2 years to get my replacement machine. Do you know what they told me to do in the meantime? Keep using it. There was a YouTube video on how to disassemble the machines and pull that foam out. Luckily my foam wasn't disintegrating or anything. It was criminal what Phillip's got away with. For that reason I won't buy any more Phillips products, ever..

Almost like clockwork. Why don't people ever come out in a timely manner? I don't buy the scared part. The more "victimized" you are, the more support you get. Especially if you're against a famous right-winger.  Been too many smear campaigns for me to make any kind of judgment until they go to court.

Yeah, there was one sheriff out there, he was a short Latino guy. Everybody was complaining about him. He pulled me and my wife over saw empty beer cans in the back seat of the buggy and told me I was a Effing liar when I told him they were old. Told him to test me but he wouldn't. Kept us there over an hour and then just took off

I was reading in another Facebook group that Dumont was practically empty and that everybody must have come to glamis. My question is, do the Dumont people leave trash everywhere? I can't imagine they do. There were two new types of groups out there,. camp Razor people and Dumont.

And if Polaris is bringing in all these people they need to sack up and have a full-time cleaning crew. You can't come in and make millions and trash the place with all your guests.

I don't hear anybody saying anything about disarming. We can project strength without getting into everybody's business. All Middle East countries know what we're made of by now. Short of a nuke, there are no surprises.. they're not scared, but we sure are.. we're too worried about what the whole world thinks of us.. so why even be there? We've been enduring death by a thousand cuts since 9/11..

Israel can end it alone if they wanted to.. but guess what, they're being hamstrung by us.

You're not tired of this chit yet? We have our own house to clean.. our own borders to secure, our own terrorist to expel.. 

The only problem I have is big business tends to buckle at the knees from special interest groups. There's no telling what kind of deals and pressure they'll be put under and what that will mean for the dunes. 

I know they are a huge corporation with 100 attorneys on and retainer but that doesn't stop people from doing a class action lawsuit for deaths, injuries, or environmental issues. Seems like a whole lot of extra liability when you have a small city out there. Wonder what that looks like on the news..
