Just saw Biden on the news saying that it's self evident that Trump was an insurrectionist. That's rich coming from a guy that allows our country to be invaded day in and day out.

Trump needs to be reelected to finish what he started. It will cause the complete and utter meltdown of the left and we need that. I'm willing to bet there will be riots in every major city in the country, and I hope that the Trump administration presses charges against every single one of them.

That's if the election even happens. I seriously have my doubts. (If Trump's on the ticket)

Not that I disagree with you, but we're rapidly headed towards the danger zone on all of this.  There are very powerful people and entities that want this experiment called America to be over, and this would go a long way down that road.

How does everyone feel about the Chinese Lanterns ?

LOL!  I was mostly fine with them...

Until a "neighbor" kept crashing them into my toyhauler.  Nothing quite like a pile of tissue paper with a candle in it to help a toyhauler really light up the night.

Hot dogs?  How does that work?  Is it just a distraction?

In our neighborhood fireworks will go off for HOURS.  Give them each a Tramadol, everybody is Fonzy.

Your dogs will sit through anything for meat humans will eat right? Make them sit through loud ass fireworks noises giving them treats only when they’re calm and sitting. Start with the stereo at full tilt, then move on to other similar sounding items until they give zero Fs about it. Once they start pawing at your leg for treats, job done. Congratulate them/reinforce it every now and again, but should be good.

Some dogs will never do it, but worth a shot and better than getting them stoned, unless you want to analyze the back of a $1 bill together…?

Kinda like this, except hot dog chunks instead of bumpers:

My dog Kegogi is well behaved, hardly moves at all during fireworks, she’s not fond of the crockpot though…

Lol, mine is the pressure cooker. Same deal: make them sit while it’s making noise and feed them hotdogs…

Now she knows it’s full of beef stew, lol

My dogs get sedated.  Just ask the vet.  It's easier on all of us.  I don't need 400lbs of Rottweilers loosing their chit over fireworks.

Tried that (wife’s in the vet field, all her friends are vets). Hot dogs worked better long term, other than she starts begging every time there are fireworks…

For those that live near me who always shoot off the big rockets during holidays and scare my dogs into siezures, I hope you blow your hands off this year!

Had a dog that lost her chit during fireworks. Started making her sit and gave her super favorite treats like hot dogs, spam, something that she’ll sit still for.

Doesn’t like them now, but they don’t really bother her either. Better than shivering and pissing herself in a corner though.

https://www.rover.com/blog/why-are-dogs-afraid-of-fireworks/#:~:text=Research shows at least 40,ring in at 190 decibels.

Bunch of other ideas here, but the above worked best for her.

I’ll bet that there were more collect calls made from that pay phone than any other in the country back in those days.

No need to accept the charges.

One thing I forgot to mention, if you think you need "X" amount of money to retire, you'd be wise to increase that significantly.   You may live longer, don't forget unexpected expenses, upkeep, inflation,  etc...  Medical is a big one most overlook.  Regardless of what the government says or you think you know about Medicare,  you will be paying more than you think.

I've never understood the "save a million for retirement..."  I have WAY over that and I'm not rich by any means.

Maximizing passive income alleviates a lot of this.  Pensions, home rentals, or other things that give you an income without touching the nest egg help a lot.  Parents bought houses, Dad manages them, but has used property management companies as well if it makes sense.  Still work, still not fully retired, but they're also not looking at a dwindling nest egg and it doesn't take up much time for them.  Dad spent a similar amount on rentals homes and with SS (BIG MONEY! LOL) and AF money is making more than he did as a software engineer.

That being said, its not without stress, and you have to be an arsehole sometimes when people start abusing things.  Not for everyone.
