Factor in how much you will need to empty first.  Then the dump charge, minimum is over $80 for most places.  I would go for a dumpster, amazing how fast you can fill with clippings.

$15 min for green waste. They put it thru a chipper and the mulch is free if I need it

Doesn’t Prescott have burn days?  Or have they stopped doing that?

I am in the county area so yes there should be burn days, I may do that as well but for the other 6 months (approx) I need to do something else

Why not have a dumpster at your house? - That's what we do and it's not that much more than traditional trash service...Different counties / states / cities might have rules that keep you from having a mixed dumpster...Thankfully we are allowed to put greens, horse poop, trash, etc in our 1-yard dumpster. It might be worth investigating what you can do if not already.

Also FWIW - We've already thought about buying a trailer and doing what you're asking about if the prices get too crazy or rules change for dumpsters in our area...just not needed yet.

We put trash and recycles in the same can but not allowed to put cuttings/clippings in it. Doubt the wife would like a dumpster either

  3. Now that I have an acre I am looking for a utility trailer to haul stuff. Main purpose is to store/stack cuttings, weeds, clippings etc until I have a full load to take to the dump.

Question, is a 5x10 too small? Is a 12-14x7' too big?

It would be great to be able to haul my sandcar or Jeep once in a while, SxS if I end up getting one but is that too big for its main purpose? Should I just have a dedicated trailer with sides?

I have room to store it so that's not an issue.

Looking for advice from those who have done it.

Very nice.  Been in our house 4 years this month and I haven’t put up a pole yet.  I want a 25’ pole with 5’ in concrete and the biggest flag I can find

    Need one too!

Give him the Caddy you stole from me 5 years ago.

I sold the caddy and she has had a hard life since then! Guy showed up on my doorstep at 11 PM one night asking me to go to Burbank to get it out of the tow yard! Wish I still had it, could have left her in the Az house!!!

Nicely done.  Curious what you think after a year or so, might end up with another duner out that way.

Don't think I'll be disappointed. Ask me again after I experience 4 seasons, looking forward to winter here!

Congrats, welcome to Arizona. Is that out in the valley? Only thing is you will get that dandruff stuff every once in a while, up there.

Off Williamson Valley Road, just outside the city limit, Yavapai County

Grats! That was on our short list as well, my friend moved his whole family out there a few years ago, they own a body shop and an archery shop if you come across the need (-=

Archery you say? Do they do mechanical work too or just body?

  9. Some of you know I have been looking at Prescott, AZ for a while (10+ years) Got serious about 2 years ago and we recently closed on a home!!!

We'll be splitting time between here and Cali for a while as Mom has some health problems and I can't leave full time just yet. The plan is 2-3 weeks in Az and 1-2 in Cali. It will be a lot of driving but worth it. We have some things we want to do right away and the rest will come. Need a good contractor for some interior work. I have been tackling the outside, lots of weeding to get on top of and some tree trimming to do.

We are on .96 of an acre (so I just call it an acre) 2063 sq' brick home, 4 bed / 2 bath, single story with an attached 2 car garage. Bonus is the detached 3 car garage! I have room for my moho on a concrete pad next to the 3 car and my enclosed is on dirt on the opposite side of the house. Got a great view of Granite Mountain. Got flooring to do in 3 of the bedrooms - that may turn into LVP for the entire house, we'll see. Going to open up one of the bedrooms in the front, it will make the main living area much bigger and we still have a guest bedroom and an office that can double as a guest room if needed.

Wish us luck on this new adventure!

Congratulations Sir. We have over a dozen properties here and all on septics and have learned a few things. Most of the answers are spot on with the exception of additives. You don’t really need them. In fact if you look at the labels I believe they still say to use them in a properly maintained system. I’ll put it as nicely as I can… only put into the system what comes out of and off of your body. Septic safe toilet paper and septic safe laundry soaps are recommended. ours is always in good shape.
The fact of the matter is tenants don’t give a crap about the rules and flush everything, so the real answer is to stop worrying about it and have it pumped in 3-5 years. Out here it’s not that expensive, about $500.00, compared to the many $1000s to replace to lateral or leach field.

Good to hear from Alabama!!! How are you and wife?
