  1. Those cars are incredible, and I will have to get there and check it out one of these days. Thanks for sharing! It reminds me of the museum at Barber Motorsports Park near Birmingham, AL, but that one is almost entirely motorcycles. As a lifelong bike guy I finally experienced sensory overload after about four hours of being continually blown away by amazing stuff. My favorite was probably this one, since I had a Kawasaki H2 750 two stroke triple back in the day. I saw it across the room and got all confused, since they never made a five cylinder. When I got over to it the sign said that some guy in England had cut two 500's up to make it. Anyway, if you are a bike person and happen to be over that way it is something you won't want to miss.

  2. Like my buddy Big Julio (RIP, the guy who got me into Baja racing) used to say, "Don't take anything to the races that you can't afford to lose".

This one seems like it should have been mostly avoidable, but you never know what is going to happen.

  3. And that goes with this. I heard DLR say it on some radio program long ago. I recall "sh!t" instead of "stuff, also that it was right after he said that he had lit up some kind of a "behavioral modification device". Words to live by...

    Don't Sweat the Small Stuff

A wise man once said "Don't sweat the small stuff," I think it was David Lee Roth from Van Halen? He also went on to say "it's all small stuff."

If you look back a month or a year from the time you thought something was devastating, you may not even remember it or it wasn't so bad after all.

  4. Being that it is in AZ, I would recommend going with an abandoned title. I have done both here, bonded and abandoned and if you do the abandoned title it takes a little longer but when you are done it is all yours with no possible chance of someone claiming it (although as others have said, I don't think there is much to worry about with that truck either way). I went abandoned on a 1961 Jaguar XKE and it worked out fine. Not sure how it is now but when I did it you had to fill out a form that you get from DMV and then they come inspect the VIN eventually. The process is really geared towards commercial towing companies but you can do it as a "civilian" too. DMV inspector couldn't believe that the Jag had only a six digit VIN...

The property owner will need to sign the form that they are asking you to remove it, but that was really all that was extra as I recall.

Whatever you decide, that is a super cool truck, congrats! Maybe put in a 426 Hemi in a mid-engine config?

  5. Wally was a stand-up guy for sure - RIP

    • (June Cleaver) "Wally, where are you going?"
    • (Wally Cleaver) "I'm going over to slug Eddie."
    • (June Cleaver) "That's no way to talk, this is Sunday."
    • (Wally Cleaver) "You're right, I'll wait 'til tomorrow and slug him in the cafeteria."

  6. A Detroit Locker would probably be fine in a heavy truck like yours. I had one in a CJ7 and it almost never unlocked, which meant I had to "drive" it all the time on the pavement. On the rare occasions when it did unlock, like a really sharp turn taking off from a stop sign or something, it made a pretty loud bang. So not too user friendly, but it made for good four-wheeling. I bought the whole axle assembly complete so maybe it could have had a problem too.

It might not make sense to you, but it works.  Ive been doing it for 12 or 13 years now.  That is no "small LED Light".  It has two 18650 rechargeable batteries and I can focus it to cover the area I need, it really is quite bright.

it is especially helpful when your under the buggy & all of the shop lights are shining down in your face.  when Im doing a lot of stuff under, I just turn the lights out and use a light on the floor along with my helmet light.

And to be clear............. the goal is not to light up the weld puddle, its to light up the surrounding area so I know where Im headed, watch gaps, gauge thickness, etc.

^^^^ Amen. Miller sells a light kit to fit their hoods and it ROCKS, especially when you are underneath a vehicle. I got mine at a local weld shop but I see that you can get them on Amazon too (of course). One light on each side and they made it angle so both beams come together right where you're looking when you put your hood down. Might work on other brands too, IDK.

  8. Kind of related, they used to have this stuff in the warehouse when I worked at the mine years ago. While not high temp, it is pretty awesome stuff, super handy and sets really fast, very useful for all kinds of home, RV and automotive repair. There are two packets siamesed together and you just rip the end off and stir it up with the provided popsicle stick. I know from firsthand experience that the packets last over ten years. My only regret is that I ran out of my stash and now I have to buy it myself 😉

  9. I had heard that this was possibly coming but I just found out that it passed (it looks like in October):

As much as I like to complain, I guess Arizona started it...

Looks like $30 for the permit, but I'm sure the fine for not having one is a whole lot more. I guess the permit is not for a specific vehicle?

  10. Yep, best to stay right there. Several people nearby also rent out moho parking (and tent camping) in their yards too, have had good luck with that. This pic was from FP1, look hard and you can see a Ferrari. Wondering what Miami will be like next year, but I think I can guess. COTA is great because you can see so much of the track from a given location.

Viva Max! Hammy is phenomenal, but it was great to see someone take it to him this year and make it count.

  11. Double down on the Orion cooker. It has really filled the bill for me, always producing great food and requiring no talent or effort! Seven minutes a pound for a delicious smoked turkey. Also makes great ribs and brisket in a short period of time. All you have to do is to pay attention as to when to take the food out, and even if you miss that by a whole beer it is not a big deal...

  12. I have a Harbor Freight Fortress 2 gallon for exactly the same purpose and it is great. Gets to 135 psi quickly, is super quiet, and small and light enough to easily move around. I also take it to the dunes in my trailer.

  13. You might want to talk to Mueller out of El Paso. They can set you up with an engineered steel building of whatever size you want. I am finally almost done with a 30x50 RV garage with a 14x14 rollup door, 15 foot walls and 18 feet at the ridge. The insulation wasn't that much extra and I think you will kick yourself later if you don't do it. It comes in rolls and gets screwed down together with the tin  I have another 30x40 steel building that has the same type of insulation and it helps tremendously. It stays pretty nice in southern AZ with a big swamp cooler. This new building including insulation was $19K from Mueller, delivered, but I ordered it at the end of last year and I'm sure that prices have gone up since then.
