What an incredible story this is. I remember seeing this when it came out in 2003 and have been wanting to watch it again for quite a while. Don't slow down very often but a few beers and Hershey bars I really enjoyed this today. Excellent. From Amazon prime I got a 7-Day free trial On PBS to be able to watch it. It is also available as an audiobook but the video has lots of great photos that were actually taken along the route. Just amazing all of the stories along the route and the amount of people seeing a car for the first time in 1903.

Are you saying that your work is still REQUIRING you to get a Covid test if you are showing symptoms?? If so, are you REQUIRED to use their Dr. who then sends the results directly to them??

We have a special "bucket" of time off for covid. In order to qualify for it, I need to show proof of covid. A PCB test was the norm but since my medical insurance, kaiser permanente, accepted my at home test and wrote me an order for self quarantine, my company accepted it. I am not required to use their Dr. I am using subsequent testing to know how long to self quarantine. I don't have all symptoms any more however I don't want to pass the virus along to anyone else if I can help it.

  3. I was asked to work a concert of his down in Irvine. Helping out a sister venue. I've worked a lot of concerts and have seen lots of crowds but to say the land sharks were different is a huge understatement. Beers being tossed to us as we walked through the parking lot, conga dancing, and all other kinds of dancing as the tailgaters were getting warmed up. Everyone was happy to be there, there was no rush, and the tailgating was just as enjoyable as the concert. As the concert started and played on, the crowd knew every word and seemed as big a part of the show as Jimmy Buffet was. Later on, I found out that the big jam bands like the Dead and Phish have these kinds of fans. I hadn't seen them anywhere else.

Why vax?  I’ve ‘tested’ positive 3x with the typical flu symptoms…PROUDLY unvaxxed.

I went to Orlando in 2021. That was at the time you could fly without a mask if you had proof of vax. I didn't care much one way or the other for the vax but to fly for 5 hours without a stupid mask was a no brainer. I took the shots and then the rules changed and I had to mask up anyway. :brdflick:

You know they let you in to the really good rides over there once you reach a certain height. DM me once you've grown and I'll tell you the best ones. :elaugh:

  5. Caught covid a week ago. First time and I've had the initial 2 shot vax back in 2020. I still test positive as of yesterday. Symptoms run the gamut of all the usual man flu symptoms. Sore throat, coughing, fever, sweats and chills, and a slightly elevated pulse. I still have taste though. Still quarantining myself. Doc gave me a script for codeine cough syrup over the phone which I would really like to get but I can't get it delivered and can't get into the hospital pharmacy till I'm testing negative. This is Kaiser and I would have thought they had this all figured out 3 years ago but am pleasantly reminded of bureaucratic incompetence.  Just used instacart for the first time and it works perfectly in this instance.

  6. Tipping is out of control. Covid gave a huge boost to tipping in so many areas that never received tips anymore. Half of my Uber drivers (Not Uber eats) mention tips. The ferry out and back from the channel islands last week had a tip jar up. My pizza order picked up in store gave me the option of tipping twice and the boy who brought my pizza out blatantly asked if I would like to tip him. I often tip for unexpected or above average service but almost never for standard service and I have stopped using several businesses simply because of getting hassled for tips. The value isn't there and if the workers can't survive on their base pay, they need to hustle up a better job like I did.
