  1. I'll confirm pulley sizes tomorrow.  CBM says their alternators are are specially designed for low RPM.

I do call BS because today's cars operate at such low rpm even at freeway speeds.

& yes I know amps do add up.

  2. I have a CBM LS in my Tatum.

On our last trip, my CBM 250 amp Alternator died (just the output voltage)  I had a spare Billet specialties 170 amp (one wire) so the trip was not a bust.

Question... Why do I need  a 250 amp alternator? For the rebuild cost (at CBM) I can buy new Billet or other?

So other than  4 radiator and oil cooler fans, Fuel pump, ECU & Engine, GPS and Radios,  I can't think of why I need that much current.  Question is:

    CBM to repair 250 amp?

    Alternator Shop repair 250 amp?

Buy New from Summit and what size?

    Thanks

    Rick

  3. Newmar builds a great coach.  The King Air is the only product they make they classify as a bus.  I've driven one any they are incredibly  solid.  The "Comfort Drive"  steering (licensed from Newell) is the way to go.   I'm sure you did your research and know the specs

  4. Moved from Commifornia to LHC.  Unfortunately I let my Foremost policy lapse and I just started to look for a new policy.

My old agent in CA said Foremost won't renew.  But now, I find here in AZ they will still write a policy.

Requirements I was told, was the 6 liter limit.  I was asked several times if turbo'd or supercharged.  I am not.  I told them 50k when they asked,  but i just picked this random number. So in addition to the assortment of required pictures they said:

"I will need a written appraisal on a company letterhead, showing the Vin#:, a current date, the verbiage “Current market value is"n appr

I haven't take any action yet.

I don't what the hell guys do with the Big Dog cars unless the can do with cubic dollars or thru a business.

    sigh....

  5. It's about time for my annual River Season List. Enjoy! See you out there.

    Happy Boating Season List

    1. Arrive at River house and get the AC going, then realize you have that Wi-Fi A/C thing and forgot to use it. Then hug your boat for an inappropriate amount of time. (Like hugging a boat is normal)

    2. Hug the Razor or Can Am…or that other brand, so it doesn’t get jealous. Make promises to it, that you don't intend to keep, assuring it that you'll take it out even though it's a hundred billion degrees outside.

    3. Fight off the sudden wave of sadness and anger after realizing you need to go get fuel in the boat and you are so damn tired from driving to the river.

    4. Insert energy drink into oral cavity and consume, like a Boss! (YOU don't have to listen to your stupid doctor!)

    5. Grab a beer from the garage fridge, and rejoice over the fact that it's full of goodies. Tell your wife or husband, or... there is no "or", they are awesome for keeping it stocked. Maybe something like, "Babe, you're amazing" (When you get into your truck to go get gas it'll be more like, "Man, that bitch is bomb!") Don't worry, the beer should also help to balance out the energy drink, right?

    6. Hook up the boat and go pump it full of fuel. Both tanks, don’t be lazy.

    7. Smile as you realize fuel is currently cheap…NOT! “I still did that.”-Joe Biden

    8. Mumble under your breath some sh*t about Brandon for making you pay $300 in fuel to go float your boat.

    9. Yell, but not loud enough for people to hear you, “F*ckin' sh*t!” as you try unsuccessfully to jump out of the way of the fuel that spills out once it’s full…Every, damn, time! (By the way, someone did hear you.)

    10. Fondly recall #5 as you grin knowing you’ll be reunited with the garage 'fridge soon. Then realize you have to pee since you had a beer and an energy drink and you're not f*cking 25 anymore, old man.

    11. Apologize to the wife for “accidentally” forgetting to take the grocery list with you. And yes, she knows you did that sh*t on purpose, but it's ok because you told her she was amazing just a little while ago. (You're welcome)

    12. Return to the house and repeat #5 and get one for the wife. Ok maybe two... three if you think you have a shot with her tonight. I mean. you're tired, but never that tired. Know what I'm saying?!

    13. Repeat #11 to desired level of comfort. (Results may vary)

    14. After being shot down, again, by the wife, go out to the garage...where you're appreciated! Did you hear that, Honey!

    15. Run and hide as you hear the wife come into your man cave screaming, "What did you say?!"

    16. After she leaves "your space", gaze upon your beautiful boat with pride, while filled with boyish glee that nothing is broken, at the moment. (Not including your pride)

    17. Get super angry after remembering that something IS actually broken and you forgot to get it fixed last time due to #11.

    18. Man up, find the wife, hug her tightly reminding yourself you’re a lucky dude, and feel all better.

    Have a great boating season!

  6. At the recommendation of a couple of my Glamis friends who moved from CA to Havasu; we drove out from Seal Beach to check it out.   It just felt like we were back in the OC in the 70’s.

Our friend drove us all around looking at housing and properties.  None of the homes were what we wanted but we found a piece of land that day and bought it.

That was 5 years ago.  For all the reasons listed already, we love it here.  We got a pontoon boat,  Of course we have the Tatum and we ordered a “to be seen to believe” RG.  BTW Robbie says Havasu will be the west coast headquarters.

We love the small-town feel. There are no streetlights or sidewalks, and the speed limit is 35mph everywhere.  Lots of good food except Sushi.  Miles and miles of trails,  some rock crawling, and plenty of open shooting.  I swear there is chit going on every weekend. Car gatherings Thursday nights on main street. Run to the Sun, Desert storm, Super Cats. UTV championships, Jet ski worlds and just down in Parker drag boats and circle/ ski races.

So from the land purchase,  2 ½ years of design and plan check we finally got started on the build.  I am doing it as Owner Builder.

As stated already, everyone including contractors work on Havasu time.  After site prep and retaining walls built, I had my first column footing poured.  That took 6 months to complete the 5X5X13 footing with a well-known and very reputable contractor.  We were still in CA and discovered you could never count on a firm commitment to weekly work plan.  So, we sold the CA home (for stupid money) and bought a home in Havasu to live in while building our dream home.  Shortly after we got here, from another group of Glamis peeps we find out my buddies’ wife had an uncle who was a contractor in Kingman.  He turned me on to a guy (Sal) from CA who had a civil crew.  Wow did they come in and chit and git-it.  In the first month they did 2 more 5X5X13 footings and all the lower garage column footings. Next Sal got me some steel erectors out of CA.  They put up 62 tons of steel in 30 days with 3 guys.  All these guys are cash only and I provided the hotel rooms.

Today I’m 95% done with framing and now I’m ready to start the easy stuff.  Electricians, Plumbing, Stucco, Roofing, Cabinets & Counters, Drywall, flooring, and xxxx and xxxx and xxxx.  All local guys.

I hope I live long enough to see it done.

  7. Ken Block, famed professional rally driver and the driving force behind the Hoonigan brand, has passed away at the age of 55 in a snowmobile accident on Monday. Block was a transcendent action sports star who competed in skateboarding, snowboarding, and motocross events during his storied career. He was also famous for his Gymkhana series of extreme auto sports videos, and he co-founded the DC Shoes brand. His most recent video on his YouTube channel is the final part in a series where Block builds a drift car with his 16-year-old daughter, Lia.
