I had to laugh at this comment, I just told my wife this same thing the other day.  I need a 5 or 6 yr old to start all over with, all the busy weekends filled with sports are starting  to slow down leaving me feeling a little uneasy about what the future will be like.  Maybe start going to Glamis again

Nah, Im not bitter.  Banter between FANs ( Fanatics ) is what sports is all about, makes it more fun.   No Question in my mind that LA is a far superior franchise, we all know that.  Had the Padres or any other team made this deal, We/They would get laughed at.   LA is smart, they will make this work, I am sure of it.  That being said, the CBA will be making some new rules about deferred payments, although nothing new, we have never seen $680 MiL deferred for some serious payroll and luxury tax incentives.  LA found a Loophole and drove a semi truck right through it !

The track coach's team had broke 21 school records on his watch, and he sent multiple kids to college on scholarships. But he told the AD he couldn't be trusted and was gone in 3 days.

Except when he questioned his firing reason the AD told him "I don't need a reason to get rid of you". 

I sure hope this AD gets canned, looks like he's the cancer in the program, and these kids just want to win, and go to college. time will tell, but I doubt the football coach stays even if they reinstate him, why stay where your not wanted to only look over your shoulder every day for someone stabbing you in the back.

 

The problem with all of the AD's is that they have no one overseeing them and can ruin or build a school up in 1-2 years.  This stuff usually manifest itself, but can be very painful for an athlete if he has AD and coaching changes often through HS.  Really cool that you are still involved and care about the future of the program.

He sounds like a great Mentor!  Thanks for sharing the story.

Coaching is a thankless job that not many understand, Especially with HS recruiting and all of the new rules with the transfer portal.   Sounds like your family was lucky to have this coach in your life and its awesome that you can see how much he helped your son.  You taking the time to post this shows how much you appreciated all of his help.  I have seen plenty of Great coaches lose their jobs, and I have seen even more shitty coaches keep their jobs, none of it makes sense, its always politics.

I'm happy he went to the NL West, We will not see another player like this in our lifetime.  LA has deferred a lot of this contract just like Mookie and Freeman so it should not cripple the annual spending on payroll.  Who knows, they might actually win a playoff game next year ! 

We all knew this was going to happen, we need arms and we got 4 of them.  Nothing more than a#3 in the rotation, but it is what we needed.  Now we need to pick up a Power Hitting 1st baseman.
